If we want a new Juan Smith
Now we have another dream who played rugby in SA for years and was ignored by the wonderful Meyer with his idiocy about Alberts. Rhodes I always said was a good loosie - but will he be able to move up to test level? I have my doubts. Will he be another Louw insofar as fitness level is concerned and will he bring some needed pace into the team loosies?
Juan was pretty athletic. Not the fastest, but could be deceptive the way he got away from some backs. Terrific lineout jumper and defender. Legend. Big shoes to fill. However, could be worth a look. I'm tired of these fly weights. We need power. That's what teams feared from a Bok side. Even in the Straeuli era, some teams knew they'd win, but they'd suffer for it. The plastic fan model is to pick gutless, passive softies with the combined intellectual capacity of a mosquito fart.
Rhodes is being courted by Jones and the RFU I believe.
He's been great at Sarries aside from when he was injured.
Sure he wus named in Jones' latest squad . Good player, an improvement on our motley trio.
As per normal Mozart has it all wrong. The loosie combination on Saturday was a serious problem and BB is right about Kolisi. Louw was not up to standard in both tests played.
The main problem is the number 6 position not the number 7. We need a 6 with good linking ability - as well as with proper ball protection and recovery ability and we have none other than Kriel at present and he is not in th squad at present.
We have some competitive blindsiders - but none played on Saturday.
So to go at this late stage of preparation for the WC for a complete 30-year old outsider is in fact sheer idiocy. Rhodes should have been in the Springbok team years ago - and that did not happen - so now is too late to start with him.
This is not a new problem - it was a real problem for years under the previous coaches as well and was the reason for losing of tests in the past. .
Louw literally did all of those things, and well, in game 1. Are you blind, or so prejudiced? Unbelievable.
Bluebok, Kolisi is the Lambie of loose forwards. He may not have such a viciously devoted cult following, but the political backing is just as potent.
AO
Please read the comments on Louw by three journalists - and forget about your distortion of facts. One of the predominant facts is that Louw went backwards in performance over the last three years - FACT/ The 30 year old was still acceptable - the 33 year old is not.
Replace Lambie with Morne Steyn in your sentence above and for a change you may be correct.
I'm not interested in the opinions of a journalist who watched the game casually and could barely comprehend the little his limited attention span to could take in. I'll stick to film thank you. If you want to discuss the game with me, talk about what happened on the field, don't quote a random person just because they happen to say what you like. I noticed that you ignore the journalists when they don't say what you like. Remember the Folau incident?
Overall, I say keep calm Clever Mike, I can see you are becoming very emotional tonight.
I doubt there's one "journalist" out there who studies the game as deeply as some of the posters here. Most of them write their thoughts based on one live viewing of the game. As we've seen many times now, it requires more than that to form an accurate view about a player's contribution.
Tale after tale after tale.
This player is not courted by the RFU: he courted the RFU. He let them aware that he would like to be selected as soon as he qualified through residency months ago.
SA rugby, a den of guns for hire. This guy prefers a 20k£ treat per game rather than playing for his country. Too many quotas playing his position and stuff...
The arrogance of Pakie. AO and Mozart is unmatched and totally based on BS and prejudice. They constantly lies and defend the poor players and criticize the better players.
Mozart have the audacity to say you three identify problems that world experts in rugby has not identified and that in your book make for a charge that you regard yourself as the top rugby brains in the world. LMAO
You can write as much prejudiced crap as you want - it remains the same - BS and crap.
