I think you might find HM has never selected Bakkies or Victor over Etzebeth or Steph du Toit. But don't let that upset your argument.

Rather imagine how clueless a coach would have been that selected, Etzebeth, du Toit, Lambie, Goosen, etc for the recent test series...
So, we then have "Meyer clueless" who covers for injured players by preferring experience.
And "Saffex clueless", who would play injured players, just because they turn him on...

Saffex
There is no way that Meyer would not select Matfield as a lock despite his zero ability insofar as grunt is concerned.
I was watching the Craven Week today and there are tougher locks than Matfield in the Under 18 teams. He is a joke in bad taste that one.
Experience who does not perform is not clever at all. We have seen non-performing experienced players far too often when Meyer is selecting teams. Besides that it is not only the injured layer substitutes that is problematic - it is the selection of dolts like the Stade Francais Reject that is extremely questionable.

I fear Meyer is so hypnotised by ou victor we may see him in the RC. Under 18 tight forwards certainly have far more grunt. It would be complete lunacy to select victor.

Meyer will select Matfield and we are going to get smacked against Oz and NZ next month.......but will this clown learn from this - I suspect not - too bloody conservative and out of touch

Look we can just about get the edge on the nz tight five with our tight 4. You know how pap they are. However we need a tight 5 to dominate. Everything thereafter slips into place. The untutored dont understand rugby's fundamentals.
Meyer has got this bad blind spot.
