Bulls Throw Weight Behind Joost

Roughly one year ago, 41 year old former Bulls scrumhalf Joost van der Westhuizen was diagnosed with the fatal illness known as Motor Neuron Disease (MND). In an effort to aid those suffering from the same disease, Joost has established a foundation that he hopes will encourage friends, family and fans to support the quality of life programmes available within the foundation.
True to the company values of honesty, support and brotherhood, the Blue Bulls Company handed over a cheque of R20 000 to Joost after the Vodacom Bulls match against the Blues at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
Blue Bulls Company CEO Barend van Graan elaborates;
“Joost will forever remain one of the greatest scrumhalves of all time and with 89 Springbok caps to his name he served both the game and his country with pride. This is a small gesture to show Joost of our thanks for all that he has done for Blue Bulls rugby over the years and to wish him well with his J9 Foundation.”
At the time of retirement, Joost was the most capped Springbok of all time. The rugby legend urges everyone to carry his J9 logo as a symbol of a true legend and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
