to follow Kallis's retirement there is one that will be overlooked. The greats of today and tomorrow are often inspired by the greats of the past. Techniques are built and refined based on what's gone before. Jaques Kallis technique wasn't mentored on who played beside him, neither was it based on a generation of players before his, JQ was the birth of a generation who came out of isolation.
Yet technically JQ was close to perfect if not perfect.....that's what makes him all the more greater, he visualised his technique and had the mental strength to not only anchor himself on the world stage but also to cement himself as one of the alltime greats of the game.
A perfect example is his century at the MCG, when all around him were struggling JQ stood tall and etched his name on Australia's finest turf against some of Australia's finest players.
