It evidences the sad state of our game - all the washed up has beens are returning as it’s the only place where supply and demand don’t quite stack up.

Aug stop speaking out your arse. Frans Steyn has been average for the past 3 seasons you clearly have not seen him play in ages.
I can’t recall when last I saw him at 12, Montpellier has been playing him at 15 because Jan Serfontein is their premier 12.
You speak so much horse shit.
Serfontein, de Allende, Esterhuizen, Vorster, Janse v Rensburg, Odendaal, Frans Venter and Louw are all better options at 12 than old man Frans.
Great in his day but long long past it

The truth is Serfontein was always bog ordinary, Allende is a rugby moron, Vorster is completely untalented, Janse hasn't fulfilled his promise, Odendaal is bog ordinary and Frans Venter is a nothing burger.
In truth I'm surprised our talent flow is non existent. But it is, and so Frans even well past his best still towers over these midgets.

Moz you are speaking utter crap. Frans was good in his day but has never been better than Serfontein or de Allende and that’s a fact.
Right now he is one of many of clueless Rassie’s poor calls.

Frans was unfulfilled potential, he left far too early and was messed around playing various positions.
For me his best spot was without doubt 12. He was not quick enough for 15 and his hand to foot was too slow for 10.
But to bring him back into the fold at this late stage is just plain bloody stupid.
For those who have actually been watching him play over the past few seasons will know that he is only a shadow of his youthful talent.
There is a reason we see him at 15 for Montpellier these days it’s because Serfontein is their first choice 12 for good reason.
Rassie has no bloody clue just look at his loose trio combo for this weekend it’s insulting.
We have old man Elstadt a 7 playing 6, we have a class lock in PSDT playing 7 and a neverbeen old man in Louw at 8 who is meant to be a 6.
Not to mention the utterly useless Orie on the bench - how insulting
Rassie is clueless

I am not sure when Frans Steyn had knee surgery - but it was after that he slowed down - and also got bigger.
He lost much of his kicking game, and no longer score drop goals from within his own half - or even long-distance penalties.
He changed his game to more to be a power player - and played more at inside centre. He no longer has the pace or step, but he pulls in lots of tacklers.
