After sending a query about the injury situation at the Stormers I received the following response from them:-

"Hi there - thanks for getting in touch.

First of all apologies about the lack of information around our injury situation. This has been complicated by having the Stormers on tour in Argentina and Western Province playing in Cape Town this weekend.

We hope to release a full injury report on Monday, which I can personally forward to you if you wish.

On Monday we released a list of 12 names of players that would not be able to make it to Argentina with the Stormers due to injury.

Three of those players have since proven themselves fit to play for Western Province in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge quarterfinal on Sunday. They are Juarno Augustus, Scarra Ntubeni and JD Schickerling.

For some players it is very tricky to give timelines on when they will play. Eben Etzebeth is a good example of this. He recently had a setback and it is not certain when he will be ready to play.

Thanks for your understanding and continued support, it is most appreciated.

Kind regards

Michael de Vries

There is a serious problem and that relates to Etzebeth.   As seen above he had  a set-back and I am beginning to wander whether he will play any rugby this year.

The better part of the news is that Schickerling is ready to play again -  he really is a top class lock going places and since he is better than Snyman and streets ahead of Orie and other potential contenders  I hope he will be in the RC squad.

Augustus is ten times the loosie Carr would ever be and his return is really good news.

There was nothing yet on Willemse and I will ask for the report Mr De Vries is referring to.

That may give further clarification as to what is going on with the players mentioned.

I feel sorry for Etzabeth but it looks like he's overdone the steroids.

Hard to judge at this point, two fine locks. I wonder if Etzebeth's nerve damage will really get fixed....it's completely different to muscles and not caused by steroids JW. It's largely unclear whether steroids help muscles that have atrophied because of nerve damage....although there have been modestly positive results in controlled experiments on rats. Next test no doubt will be on NZers.

Taking Kolisi & Du Toit to Argentina is stoopid ....more proof that the franchise holders don't give a fck about the once-mighty Bokke .

BB

After todays game the Stormers will play only one more game in Super Rugby this year.   I think the SA squad members will then have 6 week off before the RC starts.
