 Totally sensible stuff from Jake
1 Select players in their right positions
2 Have a commitment to an evolving team that is handed over to the next coach
3 Give the incu.mbent player the benefit of the doubt
4 Make it hard to wear the green and gold, every two match only Bok sets back your planning.
5 Experience has a value.

Simple but accurate. We have shot ourselves in the foot by effectively banning Jake from a role in Bok rugby.

When did that happen?  As far as I know he was never a candidate for coach selection since 2007.

Man you are naive. Jake loves Bok rugby......he would always have accepted the Bok role. Petty, jealous men made sure that couldn't happen.

Did he apply for the job when it was advertised in the past?   I do not make assumptions about what is not known.   What ultimately cost White dearly was his stint in the Sharks.   That was a nail in his coffin if ever there was one.   Whether Jake loves Springbok rugby is not always evident - he tried to be Aussie coach and failed -  he tried to be England coach and he failed as well.   That does not necessarily mean he loves Springbok rugby - rather that he loves ambition above everything else.   I am not against White as a potential Springbok coach - but without a decent backline supporting coach he is a dead loss.

He was never going to get the job...if you were in the real world rather than provincial government you would have a better grasp.

There is NO indication that White would have been considered for he job and it is wishful thinking to think otherwise.   Jake is a better proposition than Coetzee - but far away from being an ideal coach.   His deficiency always has been a seriously defective un ability to coach backline players.

Nope.....he simply didn't give flavour of the day fans the newbies they want....no Bok coach has ever been dinged for style of play as long as they win. The mob still howls when a rolling kick finds touch 10 metres out.....Bok fans are starved for success not aesthetics.

He was ditched because of the non-usage of the backline - he goes for 10 man rugby and that is why the ultimate prospects for that type of play is limited.   Nobody wants aesthetics - everyone wants sensible professional rugby - not the type of aimless kicking game used by White for the Sharks.   Remember he had to take Eddie Jones in 2007 - because both he and Coetzee were clueless about backline play.  At the Brumbies he had Larkham - at the Sharks nobody - hence the sel f-destruction on his part.

He selected a team against Oz back in 2006 who couldn't score a single point against the Wallabies.
49 - 0 ... I think it was.

It wasn't a bad team either. Makes one wonder about the game plan though.
Now he's mouthing off as though he knows what he's talking about.
Exactly what success has he had since 2007. It's 9 years later and still all we see from him is a sub standard coach sowing division where ever he goes.
Is it any wonder he wasn't offered an extension?
He should rather be grateful for the easy passage he had to the WC final and shut his pie hole.

@CC, White actually took full responsibility for that result. I can clearly remember the the interview they had with him after the game. He explained that he tried something that did not work out at all. It was Pierre Spies' debut test, IIRC.
I think there could well be a clip of the interview on YouTube. I will see if I can find it.

CERADUNCE - HE TOOK FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RESULT - wh the hell else must take responsibility.  White had the team play JAKE-BALL not rugby - and the result was a disaster.

He was fired for political reasons but the Sharks in 2014 were much more succesful than in 2013 the year before his tenure .....and much more succesful  than 2015, the year after his tenure.
The facts are not in dispute.

Mozart  - you are a dismal idiot.  The Sharks were Super Rugby finalists in 2012 and was seriously effected by multiple injuries in 2013.  Of their 36 man squad 17 was out with longer term injuries - so bad they even had to borrow player from the Lions and even some of those were injured.   In came White and the Sharks by a fluke got the top SA log and got to the semi-finals, where they were demolished.    What the hell is this about "political reasons" leading to White's firing by the Sharks?  Another lot of junk dream t up by  you?

The Sharks went downhill the moment this idiot came in.

I think the word Mozart's looking for is incompetence.
Nothing political about it at all.

No the Sharks went downhill in 2013 and back uphill in 2014 with Jake and downhill again in 2015 and 2016 after he left. Those are the facts, always assuming the objective is to win the most matches you can.

Listen dim one can you read English.  Read what I wrote above and see what was said.  The harks had their full squad in 2014 - but Jake wanted them to play Jake-ball - not rugby - and he caused havoc in the squad and was FIRED - end of story.   What "political reason" was there  in this particular case?

Oh I see getting to the final wasn't good enough. If that's the case how come 16 of the 18 Super coaches aren't fired every year?

White got fired for a variety of reasons listed in the media.  The main one was a public rebellion against the team playing Jake-ball and no rugby  -  costing the franchise millions as a result of spectator stay away from games.   The players refused to renew contracts i f White remains the coach,   The main problem in the relevant regard was that White ably assisted by Fat Fransie destroyed the team spirit in the team.  All=round havoc and White got the boot,

 Well ... isn't that funny.
The Lions managed to get into the Super Rugby final ... a mere three seasons after being kicked out of the competition ... having to start from scratch ... yet their accomplishment according to Mozart isn't much to celebrate.
They're useless. Not Bok material.
The Sharks on the other hand are haled by him as champions under White. They reached the semis ... ooooooooooo ... and even though they were comprehensively rogered by the Saders, White's to be celebrated as our best option for Bok coach.
This pr!ck who favours sowing discord and division ... who has no qualms breaking contracts whenever he doesn't get his way ... including his marriage of over twenty years ... is to be trusted with the Boks??
Have you lost your mind??
How many times have the Boks been thumped to nil in their history? I only know of once ... any idea who the coach was?
Nah ... the man is without any form of integrity ... he's completely self obsessed ... narcissistic ... and totally ignorant on backline play.
We can do better

So a divorced man can't be an international coach. Gosh Carbuncle you really are a naive lump aren't you. Do you think Patton or Monty were nice guys? And many succesful professional coaches....Bobby Knight in basketball for example ......are lousy humans. They get results......that's what Jake does. But people who have posted on these Boards and met Jake have said he is good company.
The only other name worth mentioning is Ackerman, but his losses with the A team are hardly encouraging.

Ackerman was given a team consisting of some real duds to coach on a Monday and the first match was on the following Friday - not much time to coach that one.   The second game was a weak later.   Do you ever think objectively before writing garbage on this site?

Oh Ackerman was given duds and Coetzee picked duds. Okay so duds on both teams. So who were the world beaters who were left out? I'm open to hearing about them, but from my vantage point Ackerman given a new team like Coetzee, was even worse than Coetzee.

The du Plessis brothers, Fat Fransie, Catrakillis, Williams, Jacques du Plessis Mong, White and a string of other players.    Matter of fact White terminated the contract of I believe 15 players from the previous squad and did bring in other players already playing in Europe as well.  In one of the games for the European Challenge Cup there were only THREE French players in the team.   White has one advantage  - the other French teams are weakened badly during test season - because Montpellier has no players in the French National team and the other teams have to give up some of their best players for national duty.
