Here is some comment from the IRB following the first yellow card awarded to Bismarck du Plessis. How does this make you feel?

IRB STATEMENT REGARDING FIRST YELLOW CARD SHOWN TO BISMARCK DU PLESSIS
By SANZAR News Service & IRB

IRB Statement

Following an initial review, the IRB confirms that it was incorrect for referee Romain Poite to issue a yellow card to Bismarck du Plessis in the 17th minute of The Rugby Championship match between New Zealand and South Africa.

Just as players and coaches make mistakes, the decision was an unfortunate case of human error by the match officials, who, having reviewed the match, fully recognise and accept that they made a mistake in the application of law.

"All match official performances are thoroughly reviewed and assessed by the IRB and are considered when appointments are made for future test matches.

unfortunate case of human error by the match officials...

I thought this is why the TMO was invented, to watch replays to confirm any major decisions like yellow cards and tries.

Also no mention about Pat Lambie being tackled in the air when scoring but no yellow card given to the tackler

Sharkbok it is IMPOSSIBLE for a mistake like this to happen- totally impossible. Why did it happen is the real question and who was behind it the very big question. SARU should be demanding an investigation.

With replays etc one could not make this type of mistake. The ref asked the TMO if there had been any foul play. How in the world could the TMO get it so wrong. Impossible really

Good question Beeno. Some Kiwi supporters, and I mean some, they don't seem to acknowledge the fact that we were basically 1 player down for that amount of time, and a disadvantage for a team as a whole. Our scrum suffered as a result, and we lost the momentum.

Guess what - Poite just reffed his last test match on Saturday. He will do a BL and be promoted to a soft job

Great News Mike. However, I still think IRB should have known better. And the bottom line is that the Boks lost the match because of him and nothing will ever change that.

Nothing though answers the question. WHY WAS THIS ERROR MADE- IT DEFIES LOGIC.

Brother Bueno i think the ref thought it looked like a shoulder charge and could'nt understand why their was almost a punchup. Why would so many players go running in. Defies logic.

Steinlager Sorry - but you are talking crap here. A player is tackled legitimately and his teammates started a fray - that is for the referee to handle - and the outcome should have been a penalty against the teammates who started the problem - not the opposition. who in fact was attacked. There is no law that says Carter cannot be tackled legally - so the AB's should get warned off at least and penalized for their unlawful conduct. End of story.

Clevermike its all about first impressions as now we have the benefit of hindsight,

May i direct you to the Springbok VS ABs live thread where Sharkbok states he thought Bismark was offside.

So if your own fans thought that he was offside then you can understand how players may have come to the same conclusion.

As the newspapers have stated after the event there was also a hint of a shoulder charge . So if the press is saying it was a shoulder charge after the event then it obviously looked like one at the time. Thats what happens when players decide to tackle high. It creates doubt as to the legility of the tackle.

@beeno1 aka storminged,

u have entertainment value and nothing else, why else do u think u get such little shit thrown at u for asking if a NZ ref was officiating the All Blacks game??? its cos its u beeno, its the type of question one expects from a colour book alumni such as urself.

like i told u many times before, leave the grown up talk to the grown ups, ok???

What the ref said (and I can be wrong because I'm not fluent in English but I think it's very clear) is that he has the decision made about the tackle and then asked to the TMO if there had been any foul play AFTER the tackle, when the players began to push and shove. So the TMO only answers about this not about the tackle of Bismark.

well, if the IRB thinks that way, a call has to be made, and that is the match was a draw. That would mean no one would feel hard done by the whole situation.

Perhaps all those who said it wasn't a legal tackle should apologize. After all they had the benefit of replays and expert opinion and still got it wrong. I would hate to think AB fans were stupid.

Well thank goodness the IRB came to the only logical conclusion but as many have said we were all robbed of an epic game. Hope the guy never refs a rugby game again -  maybe he should be demoted to reffing a food eating contest & even that is debatable!

Beeno1: (aka it’s the ref’s fault) In recognition of your new reinvigorated passion of blaming the ref I think we should upgrade your emoticon, this new one seems appropriate – for a time at least, lol

Well this time almost all agree that the ref got it seriously wrong on the first yellow card. But on some of your other conclusions, well, they are best described as classic Beeno & I will leave it there lol.

As many have said we will have to wait until the game at Ellis park to get answers about the Boks. I am still not convinced the Boks are there yet. Too many questions about player selection and also about the game plan. But the team is much improved IMO and there will be not shortage of motivation - not that there ever was.

Get real its in the books its done its over ,like 95 and 2007 crying aint gonna change it and nor should it !

All teams have shit days from refs but it evens out in the long run .

Call it a draw ? Sheesh !

Oh bollocks Daddy, in '76 Craven  made NZ the offer of having neutral refs but you bloody fools said no thanks .

Amazing how you lot have an excuse for every defeat you suffered during that era .

LOL Deliberate foul play from the ref? Cool story bro. Watching it the first time the hit was so big that I assumed it was a shoulder charge too...so did the crowd. So I feel for the ref a tiny bit. That said, he had the tools at his disposal to make an informed decision (side line officials and TMO). Great tackle, unfortunate yellow card, stupid elbow, unfortunate game thrower.  Can't wait for the next game vs SA. Hopefully we get a fair contest.

With the 2 best teams in the world going at it with much at stake, they are seperated only by moments. That was the defining moment in the game. Lets take away the fact that we lost our best player on that field during this game. We also lost a very key man in our gameplan. Willem Alberts. Our whole game plan and team dynamic changes when you lose two men as key as Alberts and Bismarck.

At 17-10 and the Boks looking more likely to break the kiwi's defence, this was a huge game changer. We had some good ventures into their 22. We can not say the Boks WOULD have won and thats not what im saying but we were getting stronger and settling into the game nicely. I guess we will never know.

Considering the bearing this had on the game, more should be able to be done in terms of declaring it a "no contest" as that is exactly what the match was for 50 mins. Bismarck was huge at the breakdowns and Willem made some strong carries. The ref robbed us in the stadium and everyone else watching of a massive contest.

Basically every try scored these days, the refs leave it up to the TMO. Why did Poite not use technology at hand to view the play from the 22m drop out until the collision? This would have ensured a fair game. Something you dont often get in NZL.

@ Blobbok, that's a very good answer. @ Warda or Warduck, your posts here shows me how limited your rugby knowledge is. You've been going on about Bizzy deserving that first yellow card when in fact everyone, except you thinks otherwise. I was under the impression that your posts will contribute in to the board by posting something that make sense, but so far you've proven me wrong. And your filthy language has been totally unacceptable. WHY do you feel the need to use prevocational language towards other members on this board. Use common sense or stay out of it. Your lack of respect will get you no where

Yes blobbok we were fools to trust you to do the right thing eh ? Does that mean those refs werent deliberate cheats ? no ! As in " I have to live here " ! like saturdays game its done and dusted and aint all the whining in the world going to change it . The ABS didnt have anything to do with the refs decision so get over it .And ntanga I dont give a toss if he got carded ,its his problem not mine,as for language take some of your own to task with your holier than thou crap .If I think he deserved it thats my right to say so

All I see from you ntanga is whining about something you or I or anyone else has control over and at first I thought he was a little harshly done by .Then I see his intent was to injure and given his grubby eye gouging history its no wonder the ref pinged him .And then I see bok fans blaming the ABS for it ? And face book rubbish ?

So kiss my shiny metal butt !
