What happened to the tighthead is easier on him...theory? As a loosehead he may have a chance at test level, tighthead was always going to be a struggle. So this makes sense.
Is Coenie a loosehead again?
Yes I think the only reason he was tried at tighthead was because it would be better for him in terms of the kneck injury. If Trevor is now back it will be interesting to see if Coenie goes back to tighthead. I think he would like to play loosehead a position I also believe suits him more
Nkanyane has a slight injury hence not starting over the past few weeks. Coenie wants to play tighthead, Os wants him at tighthead and SA needs him at tighthead. He is the strongest prop in SA and has been good at 3 coming off the bench this season.
I hope he continues with his transition to tighthead as the Boks need him there given the age and decline of Jannie. With Beast only 27, we have many years left in him and we have quality back-ups in Kitshoff and Nkanyane at loosehead.
Malherbe has been very good for the Stormers at 3 this year and looks a good bet for the Bok tighthead spot, but Coenie is on another plain and we need him in the Bok starting side at 3, with Beast at 1 and Bismark and Strauss fighting it out for the hooker spot
Snapster where did you see evidence Coenie himslef wants to play tighthead. He was switched there for medical reasons.
Its old news Beenkop and has been mentioned a few times in commentary this year. But here goes:

Ye sI see h ewants to paly tighthead. I also note the following:
That is one thing I don't want to change, all the people who think they know are always telling you that 'loosehead is the more mobile prop and you will have more opportunity to do something in games' but even if I am playing tighthead I will still want to carry the ball and poach some balls.
"I will always want to put myself in a position to do more than a tighthead," said Oosthuizen.
Well that last bit acknowledges the challenge as looseheads get more opportunity and generally are more mobile. Need more strenght at tight head also.
Coenie has not to date struck me as a huge scrummager at tighthead. Obviously he wil need to settle down there andget fully match fit. He is getting ther fitness wise. However what makes him a compelling playr is his love of driving the ball up and getting go forward. Therein lies his great value.
Anyhow i wish him everyhing of the best wherever he plays he could be a great Bok prob provided his scrumming is proved to be good enough at tighthead.
Well he has scrummed well when he has come on at 3 this year, ask Kitshoff!!
