Is Du Toit's versatility being abused by Erasmus

Since the start of the tests played by the Springboks Du Toit has been used as 

*    the number 5 lock;

*    the blindside loosie; and

*    the number 4 lock in the test today

It is obvious that he has the capability to deliver top class performances  in any position he is required to play in - but Erasmus stated himself that he regards Du Toit because of his mobility and ball skills as a blindside loosie.  However - is it really wise to not let a player not specialize in one position?

He obviously is one of the first players whose names will be on the Springbok team sheet and only the position he will occupy is in question.   Personally I think he should be used as a blindside loosie - but that does not mean he is invaluable as a lock.

Maybe I should not use the word "abuse" but Du Toit is under constant attack by some members  on site - who claimed he is moved around in the team because he is incapable of playing as a lock and he is endlessly criticized by them  in whatever position he is being used.

Is the real reason for the changes in position what they claim it is, namely inability to perform or is it versatility that makes him a better option of Erasmus to use him on the basis as you outlined so correctly?  I think it is the versatility that makes him such a valuable player in the Springbok team.

Coming from one of the most regular attackers on Du Toit what you need is a lie protector device.
