Is it time to choose between Louw and Coetzee?

As much as I rate Louw, Coetzee has turned on the afterburners and put in one big performance after the other. They are both number sixes. Are we now stuck with two flankers who are so similar in style that they essentially cancel each other out? Has the time come for Coetzee to replace Louw at 6 and for us to play a specialist number 7? Or is this combination working well enough to persist with it?

 Simple choice Coetzee by a country mile and select an enforcer at 7 like Jacques du Plessis or PSDT

 Coetzee must stay and we cannot afford Alberts back with his lack of pace and low work rate. I suspect Louw was injured early on. He has had many a good outing for the Boks
Wonder how Coetzee at 6, Whitely at 8 and Vermuelen at 7 would go. Once you get your dominant tight five in place it' s a possibility.

Marcell Coetzee at #6 and Jacques du Plessis at #7 would be my call as well.

what is for sure is that taking injuries out of the equation there is little doubt Meyer can select an amazing pack  - far beyond anything the wee abs can muster.

Looks like Etzabeth is washed up already - shame he showed some promise Matfield out played him again this weekend.

 Well Louw played acceptable last year but not so much this year, he didn't make a impact and doesn't correspond with the other players abilities around him. In the short term I do not expect a change in the backrow from Meyer but perhaps in the future. The setback of Alberts and Louw opens up a chance for the others to make amends. My back row would be 6.Nizaam Carr, 7 Marcell Coetzee, 8. Duane Vermeulen. In my opinion it doesn't get any better than that. To some extent I regard Vermeulen as the best number 8 in the world and I think he has proved it therefore I wouldn't drop him. Nizaam Carr is a versatile player that can in fact play number 8 or Flanker, I can't see how that backrow combination would fail. Its the best option.  

Vermeulen was huge in the game yesterday.

6. N. Carr   7. Coetzee   8. Vermeulen

and Whiteley or van der Walt on the bench.
Jaques du Plessis has a high workload, makes many tackles and runs per match but produces few. This has been his first SR season yet so may be in the future when he learns to run better angles, to offload, to create space and gaps,... but i dunno if the Bulls is the better place for it

Vermeulen had an excellent game yesterday and he's probably the best...........  after Read

Vermeulen is better than Kieran Read overall, in general play and at fetching in the ruck. Read is not too far behind though, a great number 8 also.

The strauight answer - Louw was injured early in the game and was afterwards not  uo to standard - perhaps that was the reason for a below par performance.   I like the vermeaulen, Coetzee and Louw combination as a loosie combination - bu think that back up could come from Nizaam Carr.   

   

Coetzee is adding tackling and some on the ground work. Louw is better on the ground and a better ball carrier. We are missing a really authoritative ball carrier. Perhaps as Sapp suggest Engelbrecht could be the answer, but I wouldn't give up on Alberts up north.
Balance is always a debate....two ball carriers and one fetcher....or two fetchers , one of whom is a decent ball carrier...and a classical number eight? I wish we had a young Joe van Niekerk.

How many "authoritve ball carries"  have Alberts made this year?   One can count it on ones fingers.  You cannot have a low work rate player - because he makes a few "authoritive" ball carries gaining less than two meters per carry.    
Whixch Engelbrecht are you referring to here?   You want to play JJ at loose forward?
