Neither is a devastating runner. Their goal kicking is excellent in both cases.  Cat is at least as good a defender....but probably stronger in the tackle. At this stage I would probably give Lambie the edge on decision making.....but that's just a guess.

So as we see Jantjies continue to struggle and not even be entrusted with the kicking, one can't help but see the Cat trade as a mistake and wonder why some guys get the inside track, and equally good players are left with crumbs

The real question is why cant Lambie run the ball anymore? Why at still a young age is Frans not the player he was.

Lets be realsitic here the sharks took a hammering last week and were not up for it.

I will give you an honest amswer on this one.  On performances todat I would say that the order of flyhals today was as followsL-

1 Goosen

2 Catrakilis

3  Jantjies

4  Lambie

Jantjies had a much improved game today - I have to give him credit for that.  You may not think so - but Goosen stood out today as the superiror flyhalf of the lot.    He now played in three games since his return from injury and seems to be getting matchfit and getting going.   It would be worth our while to start following him in future and see whether the improvement is being sustained.

In laymens terms - somebody should put a rocket under Lambie and wake him up - he is playing likr an unhinking robot.

Never saw that game Mike....the middle of the night....but I noted Goosen kicked well. The runner seems to have been Sarel Pretorius though.....107 metres to Goosens 16. Did Goosen do much beyond making his kicks?

Goosen was good but so were the other 21 Cheetahs. Dont get me wrong, Goosen is a great player but its much easier to look good when your team is an a devastating mood as the Cheetahs were. Lambie is just not running the ball..Will he get his confidence back when the team comes right or is this just him now?

He needs Alberts, Daniel and Bizzy there getting them go forward and on the front foot. Our backs are not getting good ball and I think thats why Lambie is having to kick so much. Alberts, Bismark and Daniel are our 3 best forwards. Its a massive loss. Lambie looked good with Deysel on the park as we got go forward ball!

Beeno wants an admission that Stormers are better than Sharks but he wont get it here. Sharks fucked the Stormers up just as much Beeno. Wait until Alberts, and Bizzy return too!!

There are a couple of factors I think that is missing from the Sharks and there is one issue that keeps haunting them and that is the form of Marcell Coetzee as well.  I am not really sure that he is the player he was in Super 16 last year.

The other issue that had me fuming is the number of penalties given away by the Sharks.   I think they gave away 15 penalties.   That showed either rank stupidity or poor discipline - mostly the latter and this is where the problem lies.  Francois Steyn himself gave away a penalty,    I think Plumtree  by now realizes he made a mistake with Steyn as interim captain.   His play is shit poor to be quite frank.

Yesterday Steyn made 3 runs beating two tackles and Mae one thing h did not make in a long time - he made 1 off-load in a tackle situation.    I would not call that as acceptable in a center.   His problem is he is slow off the amrk - something I have identified early in the tests last year. The detrimental affext of that on theakline as a whole is really devastating.

I agree with boklogic the Cheetahs as a team was awesome.   Their backline was twice as effective as they were in the past and I think that Goosen played a major link roll in that.  He kicked seven conversions at goal - and nevr missed a single goal kick.   That in itself was really a sign of the all-round improvement in his game.  f you can get a replay of that game somewhere - I would encourage you to try and find it - really was a classic.
