Pollard looks to be physically much more ready than Goosen. He is a big boy at 96 kg and will be near 100 kg by RWC time. He is very calm and does not mind the physical stuff, seems to revel in it.


Huge boot and good turn of speed. He looks like a great in the making.


Surely both him and Reinach should get a shot against Scotland even if its only off the bench.

We know what the other okes can do. These are brilliant youngsters give them a shot.

Also play Marcell van der Merwe. Strauss will possibly be back so play him and Guthro.

Play Loodt and Flip. 

I would like a pacy loosie in the squad.


Give Jordaan a shot as well. You can have all your experience on the bench if needs be.


I will be very disappointed if Meyer doesnt give the youngs guns more of a chance.

 Don't hold your breath hoping for Meyer to improve.
Originally I though he was the man for the job but he has been disappointing thus far.
On the Pollard issue ....he will be test material after at least after the Currie Cup competition if he gets to start and is not injured.He is a classy player and leader as shown in the junior worlds.

Same ol' story fans will start calling to bring in a young guy rather than develop him. Big mistake but I doubt Meyer will do it anyway.

 JW one has to assess each person individually. Some mature quicker than others.T ake your own case for example!
Isee though he has been called up. Could AJ be wrong.

If he is used it should be off the bench but it is good that he is in the camp. Anyway wee willie can always play with steyn & slip in as first receiver .

Some may say Pollard is not capable of doing well at high level test rugby for the springboks or he has been introduced too early but in reality he has proven throughout his career that he has what it takes, there is really not much else that he has to prove. I do think that Meyer needs to manage him right and understand his way of play before starting him, he has a lot to learn at test rugby. I would like to see Pollard involved in the WC next year but I wouldn't write off Goosen and Morne they still got key assets that we need in the team.

Its injuries that have blown us out of the water a bit. Can Goosen stay injury free. Is he physically ready or does he need another year or two before playing international rugby.Time will tell. Anyhopw he is off to France and will braoden his horizons .
Morne is a good flyhalf but like all flyhalves plays better behind a dominant pack.

 We will see on Saturday what stuff Pollard is made of.   He can have an average game and will still be better than the clueless Morne Steyn.
I think a backline consisting of Willie; Pietersen, De Allende, De Villiers, Habana, Pollard and Du Preez will be fine.  The bench should be Reinach, Goosen and Lambie and I would have Serfontei, Hendricks and Mvovo in the squad as back up players.    
At the moment we are suffering from having only two playmakes in the backline - Willie and Habana.   The above backline will include 5 playmakers - namely Pollard, De Villiers, De Allende, Habana and Willie.

There is a massive difference between U20 and Test rugby. As good as Pollard was these last few weeks, he never really set the world alight in the Super 15, did he?
I believe he has the potential to be a great Bok in the future, will possibly even lead the team, but for goodness sake, dont rush it. Bring him into the squad, let him learn the systems, put him on the bench for one or two games on the end of year tour but dont even think of starting him against the All Blacks or Australia this year. He will get broken.

 Mance he has in fact been impressive at Super 15 level. Its a reason why he may be ready. He is different from Goosen as he is physically much more solid.Meyer will probably give him time off the bench.

He had his turn had one or two good games and then faded...pity but its over for him.
Pollard is the new kid on the block.........
My backline:
Willie, Habana, Serfontein, De Allende, Pollard with a toss up for the other wing berth.
Bissy as captain.
Reinach at #9.
