Now the bulls have Matfield as the attack coach as well.

@sharkbok its a complete farce really i dont know what to say. i am for once just not sure what to say anymore. the level stupid has reached a all time high. victor is a great line out tactician and mind but attack ???? not disrespect but that area is a specialist role much like a forwards coach and scrum coach. it just shows where the mental mindspace is at the blue bulls/bok camp and it worrys me to no end.

Are backs the only ones with the brains to know something like attacking in rugby? This has more to do with attacking tactics, if you ask me. The forwards have nothing to do with attacking?

Let me be quite frank in this case - the forwards formed the firm base for any attacking play to succeed.   In other words affective attacking is basically a joint effort between forwards and backs.   You cannot have a forward coach that moonlights as attacking coach without a proper backline coach.   In theory it is possible to have a forward coach doing the job.   In this case we have a nonetity as backline coach so a forward coach as an attacking coach can never work.

However, this is a Bulls scenario.   The backline outside of the flyhalf is there to make up numbers and even if the ball gets to no 12 - he is expected to crashball and bring the forwards into play.   So the system is not really aimed at a comprehensive attacking program at all - hence the present disastrous format of play.

Mattfield is now the Bulls attacking coach - no other framnchise would have it - again proving that it is a Bulls thing only.   Not that Mattfield was really a forward in his playing days - he was moonlighting in the backline frustrating effecient backline play far too often.   That one is a real problem as well.

In the present Springbok environment the situation is ridiculous - no effective backline coach and a forward coah in charge of attacking.   Any reasonable person  would find that scenario as utter bullshit of the first order and I think Meyer should correct the situation asap if he ever wants to be successful as a coach.

How long will it be until Matfield becomes Bok backline coach?

and derick hougaard is the skils coach ????? the bloke that hokes up and unders like there is no end to it. the only skillset he had is the ball leaving the hand to the boot. i am sorry but this is a complete joke.

the boks and bulls setup is backward and will dump the whole of SA rugby into joke like state. the cancer of poor attacking play will grow even stronger now

You are a backward Stormer Fan - how dare you make disparaging remarks about Hougaard - was he not the one Hofmeyr sang LIEFLING for every time he had a conversion on Loftuis Versveld?   LOL.

That is about as much skill Hougaard can bring to the Bulls backline.   I disagree with you about Mattfield though - he would  be an excellent backline coach.   He was moonlighting in the backline more than he played at forward - so I do believe his forward coaching would be a problerm - while his backline coaching would be quite a lot better.  LOL

Nasty comments - but a Bulls cancer has a very huge chance of spreading to the national squad - especially with Meyer around.

hahahaha a stormer supporter hahahaha good one mike :)

i find it rather ironic it almost like our sides dont want to perform ??? and it shows by the coaching selections. i reckon we might need to audit some bank accounts. old beeno is a CA or so he says so i reckon might need to see how and why certain "weird" choices are being made because nobody in there right mind would make such rubbish selections in a sane state of mind.

even the bloody queens has a better skills and attacking coach and i do now from personal exp that sexton is a great coach that is attack minded so if the rather under strength queens has structures does that not even show ups the bulls and boks even worse ????

well to be honest i do not know...as they say in the land of the blind the one eyed is king. does not mean that you have one eye your better than does that have 2 hey :) hahahah

bulls and meyer have the best super rugby record fine fair enough but the game has changed since meyer has been in charge and while other international teams move on to bigger and better things we are stuck in a mindset and playing pattern that wont bring us the cup in 2015.

This is one reason why the Boks backs don't fire. FFS hire a qualified coach...Carlos Spencer is avaliable.
