I cant think of an easier route to the finals than the one you guys had. I know 2007 was very lucky because you didnt play one top team all tourny or in form team so there was better opposition. You guys get to a final having played kiwis, canada, namibia, italy, japan and then a injury riddled wales... that's insane. I cant believe that was even possible. If you guys dont win... you wont... you wont have an easier chance to be champs ever again.
Is this easiest path to a finals ever?
The world cup is always going to have easier routes, until their are at least 8 teams that can have a chance of getting to in the semi's. Same thing happened in 2003 when the Boks were not competitive, and England benefited from an easier path.
South Africa beat England twice in 2007, but as you say England was not a top team in the 2007 edition. Was the score 36-0 in the opening match, yup it was... The final was conservatitive and the Boks took it in their stride. It was a comfortable win, even if the score board was not as convincing as the earlier round.
England's 2011 Mike Tindell Stag do was a comedy in bad taste,
In 2019 the Boks beat the Wales the current 6 nations champions in the semi. Japan are ranked 6th in the world at the moment, and a decent team for a quarter final- based on the 2019 edition. Plus they had home ground advantage.
England beat Australia in 2019 quarter final, but lets be honest the current Australian team are crap. Japan might beat Australia, as would Ireland. South Africa fielded a B-team against Australia in the 4 nations a few months, and won convincingly. The A team was wrapped in cotton wool and flew to New Zealand to do sight seeing.
Englands only good game was against the All Blacks. The All Blacks did not turn up, and make selection blunders that killed their strengths. Instead of Beuden at 10, and a backrow of fetchers, they choose a lock as a loosie - and could not get to the breakdown to compete.
Now we have Liza Page writing twisted garbage on site what a lark.
Carpe diem Mike. It means 'rev jou ford'.
As far as I'm concerned the final was played on Saturday.
Wales beat England twice recently and are the 6 nations Champs.
Now they want to say England were so much better.
Strange how Brew and wee cc conveniently forget all this. Could they be biased by any chance.
The Goats needed an easy path to get to the final.
They also needed a few refs to turn a blindeye to the spear tackles, truck and trailering, constant off-side and of course just being terribly boring.
Being thumped by the All Blacks turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
How else would a third rate side riddled with quotas and poor selections make it to the finale?
Poor CC
Crying onto his son's girlfriend's shoulder.
"Being thumped by the All Blacks turned out to be a blessing in disguise."
Not really a thumping at all. That match could have gone either way, wasn't much in it.

Oh FFS. Don’t you ever get tired of flogging this dead horse? The other “top sides” were not just not good enough at the time. That’s it. Think about it. After being nailed 36-0 in the opening game, did your lot actually deserve a second shot at us at all? And then you have the audacity.
Once again. We didn’t play Australia because they weren’t good enough to even beat you lot who we beat twice.
We did not play New Zealand because they weren’t good enough to even beat France who could not even beat you lot who, may I say it again, we beat twice.
The other “top teams”, Ireland, Wales and Scotland, were not even good enough to make it into the playoffs.
I will be this bold, again, and say that we would have beaten any of those “top teams” and win it in 2007. We were that good then.
And, had the clowns at SARU not gotten rid of Jake White, the ABs May just as well not even have been in the 2011 final. Had Jake and his management team been retained, we could well have had an SA/France final in 2011.
I cannot see why this BS comes up every now and again. What next? Are we going to be put through close up shots of Mark Cueto’s foot and the touch line again?
Too long didn;t read..sorry.
Brew trying hard to find a reason not to worry about Saturday.
In 2007, there wasn't a single team in our half of the draw who had ever beaten us in their entire rugby history.
This was a very lucky draw for us (and the reason I said that losing the opening game wasn't a bad thing for us . . . to much disagreement from the majority of posters here) but it still wasn't quite as easy as 2007.
Nah, this tourny was waaay easier. You faced teams who could actually stand up to you back then... Samoa were pretty physical and competed, Tonga were super physical, fiji were physical and incredible ball in hand, argies were not great but they had a good game going and could hurt you, Engerland really turned it into an arm wrestle in the final. Italy, Namibia, Canada, Japan... there was a massive size and strength difference. They couldnt compete at the rucks and couldnt ge t any phases together. The only other team you faced was the kiwis and they beat you fairly comfortably. Sooo... 2007 was easy to me overall but those were teams who could at least hit back, but these teams now were roadkill and you made a bit of a meal putting some of tem away. Canada fought hard for a long period and Japan made your team look really out of ideas for 50 minutes even exposing your defence. Its the easiest route to a final I have ever seen by far.
Come at me bro had a certain ring to it.
Red Rosie not.
Red Rosie you are s ounding like the whole thing is becoming too much for you!
Mr Bean you sound like youve been smocking too much choom.
Don't smoke Rosie.
I guess the enormity of the challenge is sinking in??
Your Bokkies are going to be hit so hard they'll wake up back in the jurassic period where they can plod along all day to the hearts delight... where they belong. The world will unanimously hold a day in celebration every year as the day the Mighty Roses rid the world of donkeyball.
Mighty Rosie's Bwhahahaha. Your guys are not going to know what hit them. Not long thereafter the jitters will set in and its all downhill from there.
Why do I doubt Rosie is English.
Of course we'll know your guys move like tortoises moving under water. Big slow plodders. Japs made your precious defence look like shit and so did Canada and even a injury plagued wales team. What you think we'll do heh? Its gonna be fast as hell and we'll change hte point of contact and run you dead off your hooves.
"Japs made your precious defence look like shit a"
Yes, the 3 points they stacked up really hurt our pride....go troll NZ fool, or wait till you actually beat us...pre-ejaculation coming up methinks...or is my warning too late?
Your warning!!! Haahahahaha!!! Thats a good one. and yeah Japs totally outclassed you ball in hand and made your defence look so disorganized. Had your guys gased after ten minutes.
