Lambie at flyhalf Reinach at scrumhalf Mvovo on the wing Serfontein/JJ as our centre combo Coenie at tighthead Lood at lock Labuschagne at flank Absolutely....there you have a series of disaster selections, based on prior international form, current form and physical/mental potential. Yet those selections are what many who call Meyer nuts are calling for.....it takes a nut to see a nut.

What is nuts is Alberrts at no 7, Kruger as a lock, Basson as a wing and Kirchner at full back - and 1000% crazy is Steenkamp at prop. What has the above produced when they played for SA over the past year - NOTHING - and that has been proven by statistics which you quote when it fits you and ignore when it does not fit you. At least the top-rated flank in all squads in 2013 was Labuschagne - higher rated than even Reid and all the other loosies in the teams. What about Alberts - he was zero effective in the 3 games he played in and the mighty ball carrier making 1,5 meter per carry last year in the tests and missing tackles left, right and center - even in the Samoan game - because his speed is about on par with that of the hugely over-weight Steenkamp - who cannot make the starting line-up of Toulouse. De Jager was much better in Super 15 than Kruger and that is also proven by stats. I will also lay a bet - Morne Steyn will be replaced at flyhalf before the end of the Championships - he will self-destruct like he did last year. Lastly - Pienaar has been average to poor for Ulster this year and he has noit been the scrummie he was even last year. Reinach is 100% better at this stage than him. What is nuts is the list of names provided by you - that shows that you do not know anything about player evaluation and fabricate statements to cover up the shortcomings of players you like.

Beats the hell out of Morne at 10, Vermaak, Pienaar or du Preez at 9, Basson on the wing, Jean at centre, Jannie at tighthead and Kruger at lock

There you have it.....sure, let's select : A wing who Digby skinned and couldn't take kickoffs against the Bargies A flyhalf who has lost all confidence. Two newbie centres who got outplayed by the Stormers A scrumhalf not even as good as McLeod A tighthead who was destroyed by the Brumbies A lock who is just out of nappies And a flank who is at best a phase tackler and disappears against big packs. And that folks, the failure to make those selections...is what damns Meyer in the eyes of all the naive blokes above . Rather than the fact that Basson and Kirchner define a bankrupt style of play.

Wrong Moz, Mvovo has been good all season and a far better test wing than Basson who we all know is useless. There is no way in hell the Stormers centres outplayed the Bulls pair. JJ has been our best 13 all year, by a country mile. Serfontein is our best 12 by some distance, we could stick with Jean if we wanted a bit of the same old. Morne is a proven failure, Lambie has been solid not poor in a poor Sharks side. He offers so much more than the average Morne. Reincah is twice the player McLeod is, you are alone there, but the selection should be v/Zyl not Reinach. We have been through the Brumbies v Cheetahs game and Coenie was not destroyed at all bar the first scrum thanks to an early hit. For the rest of the season Coenie and the Cheetahs scrum has been rock solid. That lock out of nappies has more grunt in one leg than powder puff Kruger or v/d Merwe Alberts spends his life on awol, Labascagne has had a great seaon, not really physical enough for 7 but a far better rugby player than Alberts.......but the 7 should be Elstadt

Mozart You are the4 only dud that says Labuschagne disappeared - when did it happen? In which games was he not prominent? You shout about one kick-in more than a year ago missed by Mvovo - not recognizing the fact that he improved in that phase of the game. Then another one incident where he was beaten in defence - but how many times were your favourite players beaten in that department of the game. A one incident maniac who believes that a single incident in a game is career-defining. Reinach was injured and was the top scrummie until then - McLeod being the supporting one. Not realising that one? Reinach will be the top scrummie for the Sharks in CC and should be in the squad. You have in your team duds like Alberts and the useless fat Steenkamp - the latter cannot make the starting line-up of his club team - yet you support him. What a nutcase!!!!!

Well seeing as Serfontein didn't play against the Stormers before the play offs I fail to understand how he got outplayed...

Now I could kick up a fuss about how I 'lied' about the Du Preez selection and how Reinach is not in Meyers plans, but I'm not because that's petty.

"Well seeing as Serfontein didn't play against the Stormers before the play offs I fail to understand how he got outplayed..."

Pfffffffffffffhahahahahahahahahaha!

That puts the rest of Moffie's hopelessly biased and just plain stupid observations into perspective . . . but there's always the possibility that the pompous old windbag can't tell the difference between Francois Venter and Jan Serfontein. After all, it wasn't that long ago that old egg-face couldn't even tell the difference between Jaco Taute and Francois Hougaard. Wehe!

So let's see Dave agrees that Labuschagne is not physical enough and that Reinach is behind van Zyl in the pecking order. - OOm Maaik by contrast says Labuschagne is the top rated loosie. - Cheezer and the Muncher affirm their support specifically for Coenie, JJ , Reinach, Labuschagne and Serfontein......but presumably not for Mvovo, Lambie and Lood. - So between the 4 members of the youth brigade we have eliminated Mvovo, Lambie, Lood, Reinach and Labuschagne in at least one case.....leaving only Serfontein, JJ, and Coenie as consensus picks. But I seem to recall Ou Maaik saying Coenie is really a loosehead and Jean is still our best option at 12. - So in effect we are down to one player in that group I mentioned who is a concensus choice.....JJ. And even there the good OOM has argued from time to time he should be on the wing. - I'd like to thank you chaps for participating.....helping to show there is no concensus around the youth selections. Even you chaps, wearing your most rose tinted glasses can't agree. It's been informative.

Your deductions are not logical and in the normal Mozart mode of utter disorientation. Their is largely agreement that players on your list are better performers than those crazy selections of Meyer strongly supported by you. The whole topic is farcical and your deductions even more so - that remains the issue at stake.

On the contrary I'm just taking you all at your word. It appears you think you all agree with each other, but you all believe different things....there is no consensus.....only that you don't like Meyers team.

Moz the choices are easy, you can stick with the likes of Basson, Jean, Morne, du Preez, Jannie, Kruger and Alberts and be sure that the Kiwi's will beat us both at home and away and that the Aussies will pretty much do the same.

Against the Argies we will struggle for a draw away from home once again.

Mvovo might have been beaten by Speight, but then Speight was taken apart by JJ, it happens. With JP unavailable we have to do better than Basson on the wing. Mvovo, v/d Heever and Rhule are our only options.......Mvovo has been the best of these three this year.

Jean vs Serfontein.......we have experience vs the next big thing, if we want more of the solid same we select Jean and waste a year of Serfonteins class in the midfield. You select Jean, I'm with the new in Serfontein. One thing we cant do is play either Jean or Serfontein at 13 as neither will have the impact JJ has with his pace. JJ has set the benchmark for 13 play amongst SA centres and that is purely down to his out and out pace and great feet.

Morne we have done to death, we are not going to win big test matches with what this guy has to offer. We needed to move on last year and did, why on earth would anyone want to resort back to those mediocre offerings from a test 10. Lambie might not be in the form of his life, but he has hardly been poor and proved his mental metal at test level some years back. Goosen would have been ideal, but Lambie is a far better option than Morne.

Vermaak is no way a better 9 than Reinach or v/Zyl, he is good but not better. Pienaar has been average on the EOYT and the same in the tests this year, its time to move on. Selecting du Preez is laughable, he was past his best when he left and has not played top flight rugby for two years, v/Zyl would have been my choice.

I'd be happy to see Jannie retained if he had, had a stand out season but he has not. I'd keep him in the mix but would prefer to see Coenie starting at 3, but then again as the Bok coach I would have insisted he spent the S15 playing tighthead instead of hindering his development by playing him on both sides each game.

de Jager might be 20 but he makes far more of an impact each game than either Kruger or v/d Merwe do. Both are not test standard locks so why on earth would we waste our time with them. They sell us short. The Kiwi's play two rookie locks in Retalick and Whitelock, so can we. I'm sorry but there is no way we can continue with Kruger in the engine room, he lacks grunt and offers nothing with ball in hand. de Jager has been one of the finds of the season. The 125kg monster would be a great partner for Eben until Steph du Toit recovers. Hell I'd play Baby Bok Jacques du Plessis before I played Kruger or v/d Merwe and that is not a joke. This kid is as good as Eben and PSDT were at the same age.

Alberts blows hot and cold, more cold than hot these days. I'd prefer to see investment in Elstadt who for some unknown reason as never made a Meyer training squad. Says it all when it comes to Meyer.

I am a big fan of Labascagne, has good skill, but at 105kg where do you play him. He is not an openside and realistically not big enough for blindside. 8 is probably his best bet, as it is for Coetzee and Arno Botha. But having said that, one could concede on the size thing and rely on their skill and commitment to make an impact at 7. Its about finding the right balance and getting the best 3 loosies as a trio. I for a start dont buy into Louw as a 6 at all, too big and better suited to 7 or 8 much like Schalk was.

Brussouw and Fourie should have been in the squad. What is Kolisi doing in the squad, I understood he was out injured for the rest of the season.

Sorry Moz, I could never buy into the retention of the likes of Jean, Morne, Pienaar, Kruger, Alberts and co......these guys under Meyer have brought us nothing and its time to invest in the new generation of Boks

Dave all I am trying to show on this string is....there is no concensus. Meyer's team is just one of many unacceptable teams to the individual poster....whose own team is the one that so obviously should be selected.

Yeah but I think the consensus on Kirchner, Basson, de Jongh, du Preez, Steenkamp, Kruger and v/d Merwe are shared. When it comes to alternatives.........choices between Reinach vs v/Zyl are marginal for instance......both better than the options selected........same can be said of the options over Basson and Guthro. This squad is one of the worst I have seen in ages, hell even PDV did a better job. Makes my blood boil, the Boks don't stand a chance thanks to our coach

Saffex I am fully behind you in this one. The game has moved on since 2007 and is played at a much higher tempo than it was then. The law changes favoured mobility and ball handling skills more and more. The AB's and Wallabies have moved on with the time and even the NH teams have changed their game plan considerably. However, Meyer has gone backward and is still in the 2005 mode. That being the case our rugby has gone backwards as well and I agree with you - we have no chance this year bearing in mind the crazy squad selections of Meyer. I always differ with you about White and thought that P de Villiers was a joke in bad taste. However, both have been miles better than our present coach - a real disaster if ever there was one. His selections were crazy and last years EOYT a joke. Mozart and Beeno shout and scream because we have beaten all three teams during the EOYT - but was that really a case to shout and scream about? We barely managed to beat an injury-weakened Irish team. We struggled badly against the Scots - whom the following week was easily beaten by off all teams TONGA. We came up against the POMS and they had an off day. A fluke try gave the Springboks the advantage and the English captain made some weird decisions on that day. Anyway dolts like Morne Steyn was not playing in the EOYT and is now back in full force - because Lambie did not live up to the prime target of Meyer - namely a kicking flyhalf - even though he tried hard, thus ruining his normal game. We are in a serious mess and I really believe that this must be the final year of Meyer as coach. If we do not perform - like happened last year - he3 should take a ride and go back coaching his beloved Blue Bulls - no other team would have him as a coach.
