It doesn't have to be Allende and Kriel

The convention these days is to treat these chaps as if they were a pair....they have played 3 games together. Right now they are two individuals, their pairing amounts to little.

Of the two Kriel has been the worst on defence, making only 68% of his tackles. Allende has been marginally better making 74%, but then there was that catastrophic miss on Kuridrani. They both get "F"s for defence. But I believe that has a lot to do with structure, when to bring up the line. Both would benefit from Jean being in the mix.

On attack much is made of Allende's attacking contribution as he ploughs through defenders. He is hard to put away. But in four tests he neither scored a try, nor did he get an assist. The practical effect of all that tractoring was to all intents zero.

Kriel by contrast, not only scored two tries but got two assists. If Allende is zero in try scoring....Kriel has created 4 tries for the Boks. He is much more aware of his fellow players.

Simple solution. Bring back Jean to fix our abysmal 72% tackle success ratio and close down space. Use Allende on the wing where his individual play doesn't take away from team opportunities. Help Kriel with his defence and invest in him at 13 for the WC and beyond.

What bullshit given Jean's stats in defence are no better and he adds absolutely zero with ball in hand.

The measure is not how many tries or assists de Allende makes its about how many defenders he beats on the day......the measure of a true centre......the fact that so many defenders are beaten means the tries and assists will stack up in time.....he has only played 4 tests after all.

His ability to beat defenders and impose himself physically means he is a real handful and a must in the midfield, leaving him out on the wing would be a complete waste of resource.

Kriel is the real gem with his speed and dancing feet......as a combo they add a sense of excitement, something we have not seen in ages......why take that away....in the name of bringing in some old injured fart......it defies logic.
