as both Meyer and Lancaster lament a win gone a begging. England were the better team, raising their level with each Test, the experience of playing away against a formidable opponent to this young  and inexperienced side will prove invaluable in the years to come and they'll be highly competitive under Stuart Lancaster once they develop a winning culture. One can only admire their quick turnaround from the joke they were under Martin Johnson. In short they are going somewhere and have a great many things to look forward to in the years leading upto the next WC.

But what of our own? It's great to have won the series with what little preparation under a new coach and I'm appreciative of HM's effort and influence as well as that of the team's but where do we go from here having just witnessed the well oiled AB machine clicking into overdrive? The AB's will take no prisoners. Sure they won't bully us like they did with the Irish and other such teams but I'm talking about beating them both on home soil and away. We have selection issues, our main pivot is under-performing and we haven't found a solution to the problem, furthermore our bench is poor and we're still struggling with finding the right combinations. There's no sense in fronting our main opposition with a bunch of rookies nor is there any sense in batting with plodders like Olivier, MIA Spies and a pretender like Jantjies and shouldn't be a Bok Flip van der Merwe. We need a sustained performance, one test to another, we don't need one hit wonders and plodders. We need drive and energy from our younger hopefuls mixed with the experience of our senior players. Meyer has plenty to choose from and I'm critical that he has failed to do so as evidenced by the bench.

Ah yeah, good one - lets point fingers at Jantjies who did not even get to play, despite how pathetic Morne was and then we have Olivier, our best back on the day being called a plodder - go figure
