Italy's lock Federico Ruzza has put out a call for precision as the Azzurri brace themselves for a clash with the ‘unpredictable’ Springboks, following their noteworthy victory over the Wallabies. Fresh off a 26-19 triumph in Udine, Italy is now gearing up to face the world champions in Turin at the Allianz Stadium this Saturday.

The Springboks, notorious for their robust gameplay, recently demonstrated their mettle by overpowering France 32-17 in Paris, despite being a man down in the second half. This year has seen Italy and South Africa face off twice already, with the Boks securing wins in both encounters. However, those matches saw an Italian side missing key players—a different scenario from the full-strength team that bested Australia.

Federico Ruzza, the towering Benetton lock, emphasized the need for enhanced accuracy in their upcoming game. “The win against Australia was a quality performance, but we can still be more precise,” Ruzza remarked. He also noted a personal moment of lapse, adding,

"We’ll need to be even more effective against South Africa. They punish every mistake."

Italy’s recent performances have shown a team that's both resilient and cohesive. Reflecting on their victories over the Wallabies, Ruzza highlighted the similarities in those matches. “Both games had something in common: we stayed united, focused and showed the right attitude. Against Australia, we reacted well to a tough moment and stayed solid and determined to take back control of the match,” he said.

Despite South Africa's reputation for physical dominance, Ruzza pointed out that their real challenge lies in their unpredictability and tactical variability. “We all know about South Africa’s power and consistency,” he observed. “But they’re also an unpredictable team. They always bring something different to every match. The key for us will be clarity – staying clear-headed and adapting quickly in every situation.”

As Italy prepares for this high-stakes match, the focus on mental clarity and precision under pressure will be crucial for them to have any chance of upsetting the formidable Springboks once again.
