- SANZAR: No Kings suspension
Durban - Springbok back Francois Steyn has been axed from the Sharks' starting line-up and is one of a massive seven changes made by coach John Plumtree for the Super Rugby clash against the Rebels at Kings Park on Saturday.
The Sharks were thumped 29-10 by the Brumbies last weekend with the coach promising changes when he addressed the media earlier this week.
There are three in the backline where Steyn has been replaced by Meyer Bosman at centre, while Lwazi Mvovo and Cobus Reinach return to the run-on XV having played off the bench last week. Odwa Ndungane drops out of the match-day 22 altogether, with Charl McLeod and Steyn moving to the bench.
“There have been changes because of what I saw as poor performance,” Plumtree said on Wednesday.
“Meyer Bosman deserves an opportunity and we've taken Frans Steyn out to give him quite a big week of conditioning."
Among the forwards, Springbok prop Jannie du Plessis appears to have recovered sufficiently from a knee problem, although he only makes the replacements, with Wiehahn Herbst coming into the front row.
Another player carrying a niggle after the Brumbies loss, Anton Bresler, drops out of the squad, allowing Pieter-Steph du Toit to be drafted in. Kyle Cooper and Jacques Botes come in for Craig Burden and Ryan Kankowski respectively.
“I was really happy with what Pieter-Steph du Toit brought to the team last week and we're continuing his development by giving him a start, it's the same with Kyle Cooper,” Plumtree added.
“Jannie has a bit of a knee injury and his wife is about to have a baby, he's had a difficult week so Wiehahn Herbst starts at tighthead prop.
“Jacques Botes has been in great form so he gets a start this week and Ryan will get a rest, the same as Craig Burden. They can show me what they have when they come off the bench.”
Kick-off is at 17:10 on Saturday.

its official: Sharks drop Steyn for Rebels
Many were calling for Frans Steyn to be dropped after his performance over the last 2 matches.
-
They have put Frans Steyn on a conditioning course for one week.
(What is that?- lock him in a cuboard so he cant eat for one week?)
-
Steph du Toit and Kyle Cooper are starting which will bolster the pack. Will be interesting to see Du Toit playing at lock and his contribution in the tight phases.
Eish..For this game, I maybe would have just gone with the biggest pack we could field and blitz the Rebels to ensure a win. 4 from 5 heading in to the bye week would have been a nice platform to re-assess.
Maybe switch Steph-du Toit with Marais at 4 and switch Daniel with Steph du Toit but move Coetzee to 8 and du-Toit to 7. Botes has been in good form so will keep the 6 jersey but go hard at slowing ball down and empty the tank in 50 mins. Daniel to replace Botes after 50mins to ease him back in to it. He did not look match fit last week! Once he is back into it, Daniel is an automatic starter but for this game, we wana take the Rebels pack out of it from the word go.
I have a feeling the backs will have more flow about them this week but we will see how things go. Sharks must not get ahead of themselves if they do give the Rebels a nice little smack because, at the end of the day, the Rebels should be a much easier task especially at home. Our real leveller will come after the bye week when the Crusaders arrive. If we lose to the Rebels, we are worse than I thought!
I do not think this is negative recourse or punishment...I believe Plumtree has enough intelligence and experience in handling and motivating a team. This is not a stalemate to Francois but a constructive rebuilding platform of the team, Francois is included but he has been given time off and a personal consideration to get his abilities together. Plumtree is no fool and has been around this game for years...he himself played for NZ and Natal,,,he understands the game and pressures as a human being and does not see the game as a bench warmer or biased spectator. He has been in the army and in the battle and not just a pew warmer listening to a false gospel...he knows the truth about rugby and it's tricks and unpredictabilities. No game is more unpredidictable than rugby...the French have proved that so many times.
players get dropped to the bench all the time, things to take into consideration is the quality of the opponent 7 other the fixtures in the immediate future.
sharks have a bye followed by two super hard matches against the cursaders rs in durban and stormers in newlands, this is the ideal opportunity for plumtree to rest his key players in preperation for those matches.
i would only start making noise about f steyns bench relegation if he is dropped for those matches.
and anyway, by all rights, if plumtree was going to bench players due to their performance, we would be saying good bye to the whole sharks, most overrated and underperforming team in the comp so far in 2013. yes they have only lost one match, but IMO theyre not playing in the finals if they continue with their one dimensional, mind numbingly boring bland of rugby.
Sasuke your comment is right..."and anyway, by all rights, if plumtree was going to bench players due to their performance, we would be saying good bye to the whole sharks"
This has got nothing to do with a negative assessment of Francois Steyn...I do not know Francois or John Plumtree at all but I have young friends and connections that do. They speak huge positives about the strength ,character and committment of these 2 individuals,
Indeed if you in the spotlight you tread carefully with news but the truth is that strong, ethical and good coaches are not affected by hearsay.
This is merely a simple transaction in the strategy and plan that lies ahead of the competition...you all know that. People tend to read too much into a situation.
Let's support Plum and his players just as we should Ludeke,Droske and Coetzee and even Cheeky as we want the best side irrespective of our fickle sentiments.
The players know it only only too well that they are not meeting their personal standards let alone what the public think and write.
If you love any sport whether it's rugby, cricket or simply fly fishing you obviously have your heros but they are just people nothing else...not better people in a whole sense.
NEVER put anybody on a pedestal...only a fool does that. Respect, yes but that's another entirety.

I must say I admire your post and I doubt not that Steyn is a fine person and an example to many. I was harshly critical of his performances as a player since his return from France. He was not the player I thought so highly of after he came on the scene. I never met him personally - but saw him at close range on a flight back from Perth in 2008 after the Springboks played a test there. He was extremely friendly laughing all the time whilst in conversation. Physically he was tall and rather slim - but that was visual and not really reflective of his strength on the field of play. He at the time weighed approximately 98 kgs according to th reci=ords of those days. At that time I really was a great admirer of Steyn and would say nothing negative about the guy.
I then started following his career and wnet so far as tow watch all the games I could get - whilst he played in France. Something went amiss and one thing that became evident was that he was much heavier in weight and slower in speed than he used to be. He still was a strong player that could on club level break tackles - but that was not a common feature of his performances - since he ran straight at defenders.
On his return to SA he was even heavier in weight than he was in France. Plumtree said recently that Steyn weighed 118 kgs two months ago. In te tests last year he seems to be fat and slowed down. I think he probably weighed about the same weight of 118 kgs when he played last year in the tests and it showed in his performances. In February I specially went to PMB to see a warm-up game of the Sharks and seeing Steyn from quite nearby - he looked slimmer than he did in 2012 and he seemed speedier as well. At the game - whilst talking to soe youngstes who were obviously playing rugby - one of them said that he was weighing 115 kgs. That may in fact have been the case - since it was 3 to four weeks into the two month period mentioned by Plumtree. Be it as it may - he is now down to 110 kgs and Plumtree mentioned that he should be roundabout 105 to 106 kgs in weight.
I have to agree with you that the performances of the Sharks as a team is questionable - and I hink that Plumtree ha taken drastic action after the loss to the Brumbies in particular. Although a number of playes performed poorly - it cannot be argued away tht there was specific prolems with Steyn's performances in particular. I think the main problems stemmed from him being over-weight and rather slow. It is essential that something drastic was required and the actions now taken by Plumtree would for Steyn point to danger signals foir his career that needs to be addressed. In fact i am delighted tht the problem was identified and measures to overcome it was put in place already.
I for one wish the guy all the best in getting back in the team. It is bound to be difficult - espiecially losing the required weight and building up his muscular strength to what it used to be. If he gets the latter two issues right - his speed will also come back and he to my mind would be an excellent selection. The question is in what position. I believe that he was a magnificent Full back when he started off with his playing career - the guy just was magic. Is he a good center? I am not ure at all. He moved to that position after De Villiers' injury in the 2007 WC - where I saw him play regularly in that position. I think he was a fairly average performer at that stage and I would not say he was the best 12 around. In essece I would say that he is in my perspective and from what I have seen a much better option as a full back than he is as a center.
Saffex says that his speed is not sufficient to allow him to play at full back - but I believe that if he gets his weight down to the level Plumtree believes it should be - his speed problem and present kicking deficiencies will also be solved. I myself would like tosee him play at full back and if he is anytime as good as he used to be in that position - he would be an excellent full back for the Springboks.
I hope the above clarfies my stance insofar as Steyn is concerned - I don't know the guy and he is from reports really an example to people - I was harsh in respect of what I regard as under-performance on his part - and I wish him well in his efforts to get his game back on the road. .
Boklogic it defies belief that Plum has selected the pack he has. No ways should that be the loose trio. Had he played that pack against the Brumbies it would have been even worse. The man has learnt nothing. What is worse if the sharks beat the Rebels he will be confirmed in his wrong notions..PATHETIC STUFF FROM PLUM.
The backline is fine so no complaints there.
He also was correct to drop Steyn whose major problem is attitude. The message has to be shape up or ship out. They clleary are going to work his case next qeek. Steyn better put his heart into it. As he is heading for ahuge fall and it will eb his own fault. I cannot believe that talent like he has can vanish into thin air as it appears to have. This is crunch time for Steyn.
Mike Frans is good enough to play 12 or 15 for the Boks or even a world 15. However in his current condition he is not Vodacom standard.
He needs to get to work and throw everything into it. Its an attitude problem and has been developing for a couple of years. He has not been the same since coming back from France andhas got steadlily worse. Can he turn it around. I believe he can if he gets his mind right. Bleating on about how Frans cant play 12 and maybe he can play 15 is really to missthe point. He cant play anywhere right now and could play in either positions with distinction if he does the necessary.
Any backline player who ballooons out to 118kg clealry he has huge problems with pride in performance etc. Even when off due to injury one does the best possible to keep in shape. This is an attitudianl issue which has to be solved before one can argue where he should play - thaty actually depends mostly on where the Boks need him most.
Folk say he is slow. man he has played on the wing! He is slow now though.
Beeno
I don't think Steyn picked up all the weight during his injury period- he ws already near the 118 kgs mark when he came back from France and it showed in his performance during the tests last year. I sw him at the match in February when he was down to 115 kgs and he looked much slimmer than he did last year in the tests.
Yes - it is indeed an attitude problem and he will be well advised to work on his weight and speed. However, I differ from you - I believe in his hayday Steyn was a better full back than a center - but each onto his own.
During the week, Plumtree is quoted in the media as saying: "It does not take a rocket science to see that Frans Steyn is not in form".
This is hardely player rotation. It is a massive concern as he is not playing at the levels he once did. What happened to even his pole kicking when he was the best drop kicker from distance in the world. Surely his weight cant make to much difference in this?
Milke I am not sure where is he better. But do think the issue is where does he want to play and also where do the Boks need him. Hopefully those two matters coincide.
All this is hugely disappointing and its difficult to believe the coach has made no attempt to get it right. Dropping him however is making a clear statement. One just hopes Frans responds correctly.
Yes Sharkbok I also wonder why we dont see him taking some long distance penalties.
Please remember ou snapster is not a rocket scientist he just never makes a mistake rugbywise!! Hahahahahaha.

Nobody would know - what bothers me about Steyn playing t center is that there needs to be an adjustment in his approach - he will have to start distributing balls better an read the game properly - thus determine what he as to do to best advantage ofthe team. Can he do it? I don't know and neither does Saffex.
As to his kicking - both strategic and at goal - I think it deteriorated because his stomach got in its way and he could not see the ball he is kicking properly. LOL. Seriously though - one of the most remarkable things Steyn did last year in the test against the English was a relieving kick he made about 5 meters from the goal line - it rolled along the ground and he had all the Springbks off-side. The POMS pounced and scored a try as a result. Last Saturday another relieving kick - straight down the middle of the field. Mogg picked it up - result a try by the Brumbies.
He also missed kicks at goal from long distances out. The last one he tried was about 16 meters short of the target.
In essence I think he needs conditioning badly - if that comes right maybe his kicking game will also improve.
I have got nothing wrong. One certainty is that I would not have dropped Frans for the average Bosman. Frans clearly needs game time and in the last two matches has been no better or worse than his team mates.
The only selection changes that should have been made, was Cooper for Burden, JA Marais for Bresler, Steph du Toit for Franco v/d Merwe, Reinach for McLeod and Mvovo for Ndungane. Bresler and Jannie are injured, so Herbst for Jannie makes sense.
The Sharks side I would have selected would have been: 15. Ludik 14. JP 13. Jordaan 12. Frans 11. Mvovo 10. Lambie 9. Reinach 1. Beast 2. Cooper 3. Herbst 4. Marais 5. Steph du Toit 6. Daniel 7. Coetzee 8. Kankowski........the loosetrio could have done with a bruizer at 7, but the Sharks dont have one, given Alberts and Deysel are injured.
Saffex
You still dont understand that there is something seriously amiss with Steyn - he is and has not been up to stndard from the start of the Super 15. The guy should get his body in shape ad also his mind before he can be continued with. At this stage a bad Bosman is better than a good Steyn - if you get my meaning. We hall see on Saturnday whether the change worked and whether Steyn was really as sub-standard as many people claim - a view seemingly also held by Plumtree.
Mike I dont give a toss what you think and you know it. Frans was the best SA 12 in the first 2 rounds of this years S15. Bosman is not good enough to play S15 rugby, I would never select him.
If Whitehead was fit, I'd have no issue with him being rotated with Frans and Jordaan, especially considering Frans needs to get into shape.
I would NEVER select Bosman, the guy has no skill other than a nice flat pass. Playing Bosman at 12 is much like the Boks playing Braam v/Straaten there many years ago.
Saffex
Get this into your head and don't keep on pretending this was not so. Steyn came back from France grossly over-weight. His physical condition was bad and not up to stanndard, It was clear as daylight to evwryone that he was MOT up to standard. . He did not put on that weight while he was injured - he had it all the time - It was not even remotely on par with the other centers that played in position 12 opposiite him. Steyn's performances were obviously due to his physical problems as to weight and speed,
Let me be blunt - there is statistically and otherwise no evidence that he went off form suddenly in the last two Super 15 games, He was off form from the start when he came back from France - matter of fact he is now in better physical condition than what he was in last year. You refuse even to look at problems in performance - and continuously said that Steynis the best 12 in SA - without anything to back up that claim.
There was no evidence to remotely suggest that Steyn was the best 12 in the first two rounds in SA. You say so - but it was not so. Steyn's main problem then was and now is that he kills backline attacks. You cannot have that in a 12 and there was no change since last year in the way Steyn played. Nothing change in respect of performances since the first test last year until the Brumbies game,
There is a difference in the play of Bosman and Steyn - and that was the reason why the Sharks backline functioned better with Bosman at 12 than with Steyn in that position. Bosman never crashball - he gives various passes - also flat passes and the ball keeps moving. Steyn crashball far too often and his passing game was no good However - all will be revealed on Saturday .so lets wait and see what happens.
Mike you are speaking your usual kak here, what you see when it comes to rugby is laughable - evidenced by you informing Moz that de Jongh had missed Jordaan.......when its clear de Jongh was not the culprit.
Frans made the SA S15 side of the week after his first match and the made the S15 side of the week after his second game - that does not happen to a player who performance is not remotely on par with the other 12's as you say.
Mike you are just speaking complete kak, you cannot say what Frans weighed when. We do know he weighed 118kg two months ago, we do not know what he weighed 4 months ago though - stop making things up.
Bosman is useless and the Sharks backs did NOT improve when he came on - nothing changed, they were still crap and Bosman was poor. His player rating against the Brumbies:
'21. Meyer Bosman. Did some decent things on defence, but failed to spark much of anything with ball in hand. 3/10'
To prove my take on Frans, here are his player ratings for the first two games.....read and weep
The Sharks recorded an opening round victory over the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein, leading by 21 points at one stage and then letting it slip and allowing the Cheetahs back in game. Let’s have a look at the individual performances.
1.Tendai Mtawarira – Was good in the scrums, giving whoever was in front of him a lesson. Completely annihilated Coenie Oosthuizen in the second half – 8/10
2.Craig Burden – Formed part of a dominating tight five, but was not as evident in the loose as we have come to expect from him. His line-outs were good, but should improve as the season continues – 7/10
3.Jannie du Plessis – The anchor in this Sharks front row, looked in good shape and one of the better matches from one of the leaders in this Sharks side – 7/10
4.Anton Bresler – A good start for Anton, sporting another classy mullet. The lineouts worked well, but will have to make sure of every call against the Stormers – 7/10
5.Franco van der Merwe – On debut, Franco made his presence felt. Strong in the loose and again, the lineouts were a much improved effort from what we saw last year – 7/10
6.Jacques Botes – I bet he was not expecting to start many games this season, but he took his chance and had a busy game. His work at the breakdown is exceptional – 7/10
7.Marcell Coetzee – Had a good hit out and popped up in the backline for his normal barnstorming runs. Defensively, as good as always, and scored a good team try to boot – 7/10
8.Ryan Kankowski – Was good to see the Hoff back in black and white, but had a quiet game by his standards. He will get used to the pace of the game outside Japan – 7/10
9.Cobus Reinach – Classy little scrumhalf this, his clearance is speedy and he quick to the breakdown. The only thing I would say he has to work on is his kicking from the base – 7/10
10.Pat Lambie – Gave a kicking masterclass, scoring 19 points and winning the man of the match award. Took a massive step towards owning the Springbok 10 jersey – 9/10
11.Lwazi Mvovo – Scored an opportunist try, but man does he have some speed. He seems to have shrugged the ‘lazy’ tag, getting involved and looking for work – 7/10
12.Frans Steyn – Newly appointed captain had little to do with ball in hand, it seemed that he never received a pass. Defensively though, he is a machine. One has to give him credit for pulling his team together and getting the win – 8/10
13.Paul Jordaan – Another speed merchant! This kid sure has the nose for a gap. In an open game, he will be very usefull. Surprised me with his defence, it seems the Sharks have made huge strides towards defending well – 7/10
14.JP Pietersen – A rather quiet evening for JP, not really getting opportunity to run with the ball, and was not called upon a lot to take crash ball either – 6/10
15.Louis Ludik – Good game for Ludik, again, a bit quiet in terms of his usual game, but was there when Goosen or Daniller kicked long – 7/10
Sharks v Stormers
Once again, the Sharks divided opinion in dishing up a performance against the Stormers that fell somewhat short of expectations, yet nonetheless delivered the most important result: four ore log points. While they will concede that they failed to fire on attack against perhaps the best defensive outfit in the competition, there were still areas of the Sharks’ game that stood out as positives. Let’s rate the individuals concerned.
My rating for the team over all this week is something around 6/10, so use that number as the benchmark against which you measure the individuals.
1) Beast Mtawarira. Gave away a few early scrum penalties, but otherwise turned in a virtually flawless display; had both Frans Malherbe and then later Pat Cilliers under huge pressure at scrum time and also made all his tackles count this week. 7/10
2) Craig Burden. Some careless handling, which saw him turn the ball over on no fewer than five occasions, detracted from a fine set-piece display. Burden threw the ball in with precision at line-out time and appears a different player this year when it comes to this particular set piece, which was the Sharks’ downfall in the latter stages of the Currie Cup last year. 5/10
3) Jannie du Plessis. A fine scrumming performance, but perhaps not quite as much of a contribution in open play as we saw from him the week before. 6/10
4) Anton Bresler. Strong on defence as always and sure of his line-out ball, but needs to show a little more in general play than we saw this week. 6/10
5) Franco van der Merwe. Showed up reasonably well in the middle of the line-out against the huge Andries Bekker, but otherwise had a quiet game. 5/10
6) Marcell Coetzee. Another whose hands let him down badly on the night. A fine defensive performance, as always, but much attacking momentum was lost as Marcell committed far too many individual errors. 5/10
7) Jean Deysel. A very good showing from a man who is clearly desperate for regular rugby. Deysel looked like the player of old and used his formidable strength to good advantage. Also a few trademark steals, one of which probably saved a certain try. 8/10
8) Ryan Kankowski. Another good, physical display from Kanko. We’re still waiting to see him get into his running game, but this was not the match for that to happen 6/10
9) Cobus Reinach. A bit of an uncertain display from the scrumhalf, who seemed to struggle a little both in terms of decision-making and execution. He’ll improve with more experience, I’m sure, but my feeling is that Cobus transferred too much pressure onto the rest of the backline by not being clinical enough in what he did. 5/10
10) Pat Lambie. Superb goal-kicking, as always, which spared the Sharks the blushes that many felt were their due. wasn’t quite on song in terms of options, though, with far too much ball being aimlessly kicked away, rather than entrusted to the safe hands outside him. 6/10
11) Lwazi Mvovo. A great game. Concerns over work rate are a thing of the past and Lwazi finally seems comfortable wearing the mantle of one of the country’s finest wingers. 7/10
12) Frans Steyn. A very solid performance, marked by a few brief glimpses of magic. Didn’t have enough ball to be really dangerous, but was a rock on defence and did what he could on attack. Leadership was a step up from last week as well. 7/10
13) Paul Jordaan. Impressed with his defence and showed one or two brief glimpses of what he can do on attack. Needs to improve his options with ball in hand, though, because he doesn’t ever seem able to link up with others once he’s made a break. 6/10
14) JP Pietersen. Little to do on attack, but was composed and assured on defence. Also showed the improvements in his kicking game, which was nice to see. 6/10
15) Louis Ludik. The best “buy” the Sharks have made in recent years, bar none. Ludik remains unflappable and steady on defence and plucked the ball out of the air with consummate ease. Probably the player who came closest to scoring for the Sharks on the day as well. 7/10
I know that I'm a bit late to this post, but I posted over the weekend that F Steyn was fat. Plummers come out and confirms it. Jeez 117 kg, he should go play prop at the rate that he is going.
Saffex, I have to disagree with you. If we kept selecting players because of past reputations and potential we would never win any games. If players aren't in form then the should get the boot. No grace positions where they just ship them out wide because they don't want to dent the poor chaps ego. We seen it with Hougaard, his service at the base have been absolutely shocking and never seems to have any awareness around him. Almost like a blinkered horse. What really bugs me is the fact that he then just gets shipped to the wing. Both Steyn and Hougaard should earn the rite to play and the same goes for the rest.
King, you are speaking complete crap. Check Frans's player ratings above for his first two matches this year, he was our best 12. He and the rest of the Sharks players have slipped since.
As for your take on Hougaard's service, its the biggest load of shit I have read in ages. Hougaards service to Morne this year has been crisp and accurate, its the one thing he got spot on. He offered nothing on attack, which is unlike him, but one suspects that the Bulls gameplan dictated that.
His service was the best of all the SA 9's and partly accounted for Morne's revival this year as he had more time on the ball
Saffex
I am more and more amazed at you - you are indeed gullible. Let me just remind you of the following comments you yourself quoted:-
"12) Frans Steyn. A very solid performance, marked by a few brief glimpses of magic. Didn’t have enough ball to be really dangerous, but was a rock on defence and did what he could on attack. Leadership was a step up from last week as well.| 7/10
The above sounds indeed good - but it is bullshit. His stats in the game was as follows:-
Steyn 0/0 0 0/7/8 23 1 2 2 2 5/0 0/0 1 0/0He got the ball 15 times during the game - pass it 7 times and crashballed 8 times. "Did not have enough ball to be really dangerous" - my ass. He got the ball more than enough times but did preciously little with it. Now lets look at the rest of the statement:-
"Was a rock in defence":. He made 5 tackles in total - the players on either side of him made more than that. What were they - mountains in defence??????
Lets look at the stats of Jordaan whom you said is not good enough:-
Jordaan 0/0 0 0/3/7 54 3 1 1 2 7/0 0/0 0 0/0
That is much better stats than what Steyn produced - not so> Steyn 8 runs making 23 meters : Jordaan 7 runs 54.
My advice - don't listen to the crap written by journalists - use your own eyes and be realstic in doing so - not on cloud 9
That quote on Bosman - was that for the Kings game? I think not - in the Kings game Bosman got the ball 9 times - he kicked the ball once , passed it 7 times and ran with the ball once - followed by an effective off-load in tackle situation. No crashball in sight. Perspective .- Bosman did not kill the backline like Steyn did. The effect was improved backline performance - capice?
The facts of the matter are that following Steyn's ankle injury last year it was impossible to put in any proper conditioning training during the off season, thus his weight ballooned to 118 kg's. A lot of effort was put in to rectify this and he managed to bring his weight down to around 110kg's. However, the emphasis on conditioning meant not much skills training was done in the same period. The fact that he was able to put in two decent performances in the first two games shows what a great player he is but the circumstances have caught up with him.
I can guarantee you there is nothing wrong with his attitude. He is a team player and will give his all for the team and his team mates. Anybody involved with the Sharks will confirm that. Did you know he also serves as mentor for Lambie? Fran's problem is that he takes the team's poor performances personally and blames himself when things go wrong.
He will be back. That is a certainty.
Super Pat I think Steyn is a very gifted player and one that could hav helped us regain top spot in world rugby. However there is no doubt he is not playing to potential or even well enough to command a starting place at the Sharks.
What I find disturbing is his attitude. As a professional athlete you dont allow yourself to balloon to 118kg regardless!!!!.
Dropping him and insisting on conditioning etc was the right move by Plum. Hopefully it will get Frans back on track.
Mike, catch a wake up, they are not my comments on Frans - those are not my player ratings, they are from the Sharks official supporters website.
Yes that rating on Bosman was from the same site and they are correct, he did stuff all on attack - the guy is a useless player.
The player ratings on Frans mirror my take on him, he was good in the first two games as the ratings show and added to the fact that he made the SA S15 side in week one and the S15 competition side as a whole in week 2 - this all points to the complete and utter rubbish your take on Frans is.
Your rugby knowledge is KAK
