He must rank as the oldest Springbok captain in the world at 37 years old. A solid choice though, the Bulls were lost without him against the Lions over the weekend

I expected this and the stupidity is rank favouritism by Meyer. He cannot forget about the past association with Matfiled and the bugger is a showpony as Beeno said = does nothing in tight play and moonlights in the backline . With that kind of selection we will be dead certs to lose in the championship and the excuses will be endless.
Watch out the team that Meyer comes up with - it would be a regular chamber of horrors - a lot of rugby geriatrics that should be in an old age home.

To be honest ... there wasn't any other choice.
Bismarck is an animal. He should be loosed on the opposition. Besides that, I don't really rate him as cpt material.

This is a slap in the face to Bismarck who is the REAL captain in this team.Matfield will be undone...you all just wait and see.I had respect for Matfield for the player he was...but this stinks.All of them Burger,Matfield J Fourie and Jean De Villiers and J Smith are all over the wall and should not be considerd
But hey Meyer is soon to be the South African wheelchair rugby coach for the next Olympics and guess who is the captain...I give you all three go's.

One good win & all anguish will be forgotten.
Look at how you all reacted when the sharks struggled past the saders. Sure it was a stroke of luck that you had to play with 13 players while the saders had the extra burden of coordinating the actions of 15 blokes on the field at the same time but still you all were pumped & were on top of the world!

IMO Matfield is just a fill-in captain until De Villiers is back (injured but the rest before the RC is a good idea anyway).
Matfield represents stability & that is what Meyer wants. Bismarck has been sent a clear message, i.e. behave. He was losing it in his last game.

They don't want Matfield cause he's old.
It doesn't matter to them that he has more than 100 caps experience behind his name and that he just so happens to be the best option for us at 5.
They would prefer a temper tantrum, hissy fit throwing animal to lead us. They also expect this cpt to lead the rest of the team by example AND we're expected to win
What cracks me up is that these very same idiots claim to know something about rugby and are constant lecturing others on this board.
