On the home page Jean is quoted as having said that Peter Grant has been the best player in the team this season. Now it may just be me, but when the Springbok captain comes out in support of a no.10 like that, when the current Springbok flyhalf is having a massive dip in form, could there be more to it than just a random Super Rugby related statement? I don't think so. Morne Steyn has been nowhere this year, both in tests and in Super rugby, and grant is enjoying the form of his life. Could this be an indicator of  things to come? Could there be a changing of the guard? The thing is, Steyn and Grant play a similar style of rugby, except Grant is doing it accurately, slotting kicks, playing well tactically and efficiently covering his channel on defence. Steyn has not been able to do those things consistently. Neither player is the best in the world at getting a backline going, although the Bulls backs are seeing more ball than usual, so Steyn appears to be working on that aspect of his game, but will still never be a world class distributer. Grant on the other hand, used to be seen a running flyhalf, but seems to be excelling as a more conservative number 10 at this point in his carreer.

I feel that Grant is the only answer at Flyhalf at the moment, and would not cause a major disruption in the Springbok gameplan due to his recent style of play being relatively similar to what we have come to expect from the Bok flyhalf.

Blue, most folk up north will have a fit if Grant is selected as Bok10, but I am sure he would not let the team down. Not the most flashy player, but he has been rock steady the last 2 years.

Db any Bulls supporter with more than a couple of functioning brain cells will admit that M Steyn is not playing well enough to represent the Boks at the moment. With Lambie being a much better 15 than 10, Goosen out injured, Jantjes way too hot and cold and Steyn just playing poorly, there is only one option, Peter Grant! Anyway, who cares if some folk up here (North) don't like it?

Peter Grant has become Morne Steyn. His passing was woeful during the semi final
