Is there a faster loose forward in world rugby than Jaco Kriel?
Well done Lions!
Well done also to my beloved Sharks for giving the Cheetahs a good old-fashioned snotklap!
I love the Currie Cup!

Rooitwit he had a very good game at thsi level and certainly has good wheels. I checked hs eight and he is only 100 kg. So there are backas as big as him and faster. Wonder if weight is right.
The guy who has impressed me isWillie Brits when he plaeted loose forward for the lions. He also has wheels and weights in at 107 kg.
Tecklenberg at 105 kg and minnie at 107 kg form a mobile hard working loose trio. Lets see hwo they go at Super 15 level.
Another tight foward with real pace is Ruan Dreyer the prop at 110 kg - he can motor. Seemed okay in the scrums.
Boschoff weighs in at 88 kg.

Baboon-ou, if this is the first game where you've noticed Kriel's pace then I question how many Currie Cup games you've watched this year.
So far, the finds of the season are all Lions players . . . Kriel, Boshoff and Volmink . . . although Volmink made an impact last year already.
Of course its not the first time I have noticed Kriel's pace. I pointed out some time ago the 90 kg Volmink's potential. I have also highlighted Brits as a loose forward - who you have not even noticed.
I am now mentioning Ruan Dreyer - haven't seen a prop move that quick for some time. He is 23 and 110kg.
Make him into a hooker and you have a potentially world class player. Will he be strong enough to play at a higher level at prop. Look at Pat Cilliers simply isnt really strong enough. This guy though has real pace.
Anyway hats off to the policeman!
Ja this okie is the real kriel.
i like the fact that he doesn't mind doing the dirty work as well.
the lions have some classy looses in kriel, Minnie, tecklenberg. And Willie Brits.
hope they all stick together for the 2014 super xv.
IMO ardie savea is faster, but would love to see these two in a race.
also wouldnt rule out hooper, hes got some serious gas on him which help balance out the rest of his hobbit like dimensions.
Lol ardie savea.
so much hype around a loosie that plays most of his game in the back line.
look, he is fast. Make no bones. But I just feel that there is so much hype surrounding him, but he actually isn't all that great as a loose forward.
i think he should retread his game as a 13. He would be electric to watch.
@william,
"Lol ardie savea.

lolz, if u didnt watch any of his games then u shouldnt comment on his performance. playing out in the backs, meh.
not easy making 21 tackles from 21 attempts, 2 pilfers, getting his team a pilfer related penalty if spend most ur time in the back line, and that was just his debut match.
whats going to happen when now that hes been broken in a little bit more??? just cos hes faster then some backs dosent mean he should play in the backs.
in two years time ardie will be in All Blacks contention and after king richie retires, sam cane will be well groomed by then at playing 2nd fiddle to the incumbent 7, so the chiefs flanker will fit in comfortbly as ardies back up.
dont blame u for wanting ardie in the centers though, if he wasnt in my team, i wouldnt want him tormenting my forwards either.
Jaco Kriel is a great find, I just wonder why Ackerman leaves him on the bench at times - complete madness, Beenkop, wake up size has very little to do with an openside flanker....100kg is about par, much like it is with Brussouw, Kolisi, Fourie, Hooper, Cane, Warburton, Tipiree, Dusseltou, George Smith, Nyanga, Todd, Gill.
I like Volmink, Boshoff and Britz but the best Lions to come through thus far is Stokkies Hanekom at 13, who sadly is injured at present. Reminds me so much of Jacques Fourie.
Andries Coetzee is another good player, just back from injury
