Jacques du Plessis the new Etzebeth
jacques looks the goods all right, hes already better then lady elizabeth was at the same stage/time.
surprised to see how tall he is, could easily be a lock, but i like him better at No7 or even number 8 where his mobility can be better utilised. reminds me of a bigger vermeulen, without the grandma turtle speed.
@bokbefsk,
same ol wishful saffa thinking rinse repeat cylce,,,,
1 - talk up the Boks
2 - lose to the All Blacks
3 - blame the ref
4 - repeat 1 through 3
last decade 25 tests between the All Blacks & Boks, All Blacks have won 17, Boks have won 8. let me know when u finally hit double digits, til then zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, :o/
Now Saf, with this I can definitely agree. This guy is more impressive than both Stef du Toit and Lood (even though i still don't see what you see in Lood).
This is the guy to partner Etsebeth. Play him at 4 and move Eben to 5.
Take out ou pdv and leave in Jake and add in fair competent refs and I am sure we would be well ahead of the abs since isolation.
However there is little doubt day of reckoning is looming and ou saSUE well knows this.
2014 is the year! Provided of course the entire Bok squad is not overseas by then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@mikey,
i had a long 5 day weekend and went on holiday with friends, so didnt have much time to blog and thought i would get my needling fix, LMAO, :oP
@beeno1 aka storminged,
"2014 is the year! Provided of course the entire Bok squad is not overseas by then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
i see, so last year when u said 2013 was the year, what u really meant was 2013 was the year that u will say the year it will "the year"??? o_O
i guess u dont have too much faith this year aye???? must be all those kiwi refs who will be reffing the All Blacks games, LMAO, :oD
Crumbs HOW new is Etzebeth...Steph Du Toit has a set back (both Saffex's choices). It's nice to have another arrow in your quiver but what's the excitement...only 2 locks can play the game.
We have greater needs as far as replacement depth is needed.

Sas, 2013 was our year in erms of AB's vs Bok performance. Our young tea that put it to the "mighty" AB's in Dunedin missed out purely on goal kicking. Every other facet of the game was dominated by the young Boks. The only thing saving NZL from a big, note big, defeat was a freak display of goal kicking by one of the best in the world.
The game in SA changed as well when Jantjies came on and our backs went to pieces. Can not afford to have one player misfiring in a test and Jantjies does not have a cylinder to fire in the first place.
What have we done about it this year? We trimmed the fat. Jantjies is gone!
I expect nothing less than a win in Eden park this year and probably more comfortably than we think. between 7 to 15points! With JJ and Willie we look more dangerous through the backs especially with Jean and Habana playing well. Should we throw Serfontein in there too just to give you the shivers! Thats the only thing we have been missing since 2009. I mean, any Bok forward pack just needs to rock up to dominate the AB's pack but now our backs will match.
Ben Smith (much better than Dagg) scares me a bit and Cory Jane is just too good but I reckon we got them this year. Sas, do you agree with me son? ;-)
On a different note, what time is the junior WC games on here in NZL and is Seabelo Senatla "mature" enough to become a senior Bok in the near future (as soon as this year) or is he still many months/years away?
I have seen him make an impact with his pace in 7's but have not watched him in the structures of the 15 man game!
Poly, The Boks play a full strength AB team everytime we meet. The AB's have not played a full strength SA team since 1998! With the quota's and shit in our rugby, our best players are left out for guys like Bolla Conradie, Elton Jantjies and co. Lots of those wins you talk about are ou PDV sending his Boks over here with all the "A" team with their feet up at home. Makes the stats look very flawed.
Dunedin certainly was not a moral victory for the AB's now was it. Their supporters admit they dodged a bullet big time.
Poly, im fucking with you guys buddy. I know the quality the AB's bring to the table and thats why we respect them so much. They are the bench mark of world rugby and the team to beat.
I just have a good feeling about Bok rugby this year and after that Dunedin test with a relatively young group of guys coming through. I guess we have to have a good feeling when we see guys like Kirchener, Jantjies and co not really in the picture.
I want nothing more than for the Boks and AB's to go into a test match equal at the TAB with the result up in the air. For far too long now the question has been, "Can the Boks beat the AB's?" and not , "Jeez its gona be a cracker tonight. Its gona come down to the team that wants it the most!"
Some of those results like Jake sending a "B" team to NZL and PDV doing the same has given easy wins to the AB's but then again, its not to say our "A" team would have won anyway. Its not the AB's fault. They never told us we cant send our best team.
p.s Poly, The Boks never surrended 10 points in SA. Jantjies gave those back and more ;-)
We didn't win in Dunedin and we know that. I guess what gets us excited was seeing a young Bok team in the middle of a transformation period put up a display like that against a pretty experienced AB team. Some of the dead wood from there has been scraped away and filled with more than capable guys. We starting to see a really good future team take shape now. I am starting to trust in what Heynecke is doing. He may surprise us though but so far so good. His biggest challenge will be politics.
It called nervous tension bordering FEEAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR!!!!
And rightly so.
The All Blacks of old are no more.
The time of the Bok is at hand.
Exciting times lie ahead of us and as Chubbs mentioed, we are spoilt for choice.
I love it.
Gooooooooooo Bokke!!!!
Poly,saSUE/akastormingED. Hakwa, abnob. brycy, Nuked kiwi, Poooie, sitting bull and all other very ignorant kiwi bird brains - Prepare for Bok rule! - The new hahahakka when the wee abs face the Mighty Boks!
We will be reverting to the natural order of things as per pre isolation. Only it will be worse for the wee abs as we will be drawing on a wider talent pool.
SARFU take the war to bent kiwi refs please - the last hope of all kiwis.
I really like watching JDP play against Enland on Sunday. The kid is pure class and would love to see him in the mix. Extremely mobile for a big guy. We have 3 world class locks that are extremely mobile. I think there is space for 4 locks, if you look at the amount of games the guys are playing these days, it only makes sense to have great back up.
I think Meyer and Rassie are doing some great work behind the scenes. This is the first time that the head coach of the national team is actually interested in the up and coming players.
I think JDP be can be a Danie Roussouw times ten.
What would your pack look like 2 years from now?
1. Beast
2. Bismark / Strauss
3. Coenie / Malherbe
4. Pieter Steph Du Toit
5. Eztebeth
6. Louw / Brussouw / Kolisi
7. Jacques Du Plesis / Lappies Labauscagne
8. Arno Botha / Vermeulen

another case of ur opinons leading u to make comments with zero substance.
here is a list of the match day facts in the dunedin test where the All Blacks beat the Boks, so reedit ur post or best u redefine the term every facet of the game, cos i have just taken the liberty of showing u exactly how delusional the saffa preception of that dunedin test really is.
i provided these numbers the last time someone said the same thing (i think it was shezza but cant rememeber), was i surprised to hear no more from who ever that person was after i showed the numbers??? not really, its like the whole blame the referee, boring and predictable, just like the Boks.
Aaaah ... look boys ... its poly come out to give me more lip!!!
We shall see who whips who this time round!!
Now be a good poly and go have yourself a cracker ... quietly ... back in your cage!!!
Sas, my boy! How are you buddy!
Sas, go have a look at the Francois Botha v SBW boxing match. Why dont you tell me who dominated that fight? Sure, SBW had the stats but did Botha not say before the fight, "I am going to take him where he has never been before. I am going to pull him to the deep him and drown him!"
He told SBW what he was going to do to him and the plan worked perfectly. A bit of cheating went on and SBW emerged a "winner" but lost many fans through the process. Cheating at its best.
I guess the moral of that story is dont let stats fool you or be a defining point. Watch the game for yourself. Go and do that. I expect an honest report back
We butchered a few tries. Could easily have had 2 more tries and 9 more penalty goals. Now if Morne could kick and we hung on to a few of those 1 on 1 with the line passes and the stats read 3 tries to SA instead of 1 and 10 penalty goals instead of whatever we had on the night, would you be showing me those stats?
Please SAS, I never said we won the game, I said we dominated and were the better side on the night. No doubt. More humble kiwi's than yourself were first to admit that. I dont let stats on how many steps a man took with the ball worry me. SA kick more therefore more return running metres. Dont be fooled. They were not line breaks. Stats suck..Go watch the game for yourself. You will see who was more dominant if you can be honest with yourself. Theres one for the books..Kiwi and honest just dont go ;-)
If you guys want stats we can have stats..Lets look at another stat. England beat NZL..SA beat England...Statistically, we must be better then??
Well, I hope you boys are happy with your efforts in Dunedin..If so, I hope you guys produce that performance against the Boks this year..All we needed that game, and I say ALL, was 2 passes to stick and a "normal" not even great, just a normal night with the boot from Steyn and the result would have been embarrassing for NZL. Thats all. Not much to ask. Thats the only fault on the night. The rest of the game the Boks were clinical in every dept. We lost because of a goal kicker. Thats it. Not bad structures or defence. We bullied your little pack man. I dont want an admission from you. I got plenty that night from humble kiwi's in Dunedin!
Sasuke WTF have NZ vs Boks record got to do with a player performing well in the U./20 JWC? Do you pull out your cock while in the stands in Kiwi home games and start to measure them and see who got the biggest ones?
NZ have been dominant in rugby. We all know that but take away the losses vs South Africa throughout hisotry and see what that winning percentage shoots up to.
Boklogic: England beat NZL..SA beat England...Statistically, we must be better then
Yeah, that pretty much sums up your rugby nous, mate. Love the fact that you still can't get over the Dunedin loss that happened nearly a year ago. Makes the win that much sweeter when it causes Yarpies like you to sob and cry for months on end! I can only imagine you must have wept like a little child after the drubbing in Soweto a few weeks later!
Polyboy Did you see those matches or did you hear about it from your fellow Kiwi's? That is a bit low making excuses cause of a referee. Leave that shit to us.......
You did not hear us bang about because of the referee in the 50's and 80's complaining about referees or planes dropping flour on the players heads or anything did you? No. Why? Because we just wanted to play rugby nothing else.
Making excuses due to losses and blaming referees is a sign of lack of respect for the opposition. I guess if you become use to winning you will do everything you can to keep on winning and when you lose you will make up the most horendus excuses to get a demanding rugby public of your back. Be careful of that spoiled luxury of winning. It turned some individuals and teams into biggest villians in sporting history. Like under arm incident. Hansie Cronje who never lost a game while at school.
Lessons are learned when you lose. It makes you better sportsman. I personally wouldn't mind losing every 2nd week if I can win the WC every 4 years due to learning from mistakes
@boklogic,
"Please SAS, I never said we won the game, I said we dominated and were the better side on the night."
wrong bro, what u actually said was what i was replying too was,,,
"Sas, 2013 was our year in erms of AB's vs Bok performance. Our young tea that put it to the "mighty" AB's in Dunedin missed out purely on goal kicking. Every other facet of the game was dominated by the young Boks."
so i guess what ur saying now is, Boks dominated the bame except when it comes to,,,
scoring more tries
making more running meteres
offloading the ball
breaking more tackles
making more line breaks
missing less tackles
winning the scrum battle
winning the lineout battles
and conceding less peanlties
is that what u meant by domiantion??? my bad must be a language thing, domination in SA must mean something different.
again ur posts are a lot of opinons, but very little facts, noted especially by bringign up the SBW/botha fight
not sure why u brought up the SBW fight, botha was the only cheat busted with drugs in his system "AGAIN", but i dont care cos both SBW and francois drug cheat botha are yesterdays news and thats all i have to say about that.
but as for losing to england, u sound like the pommy media who declared england to be the world champions after beating the All Blacks, o_O
but to claim Boks bragging rights though england who last oen a test against the ABs 10 years before lasty year as some kind of saffa bragging rights, lolz, yup, hope england give u another win on the EOYT, while the All Blacks have another feed of springbok in auckland and in joburug.
meats back on the boys, :oP
Polyboy. The bitching started around the loss against WP and snowballed onwards. The Kiwi media was more busy analyzing South African politics, people, referees they forgot to look at their own game. No one even mentioned that the Kiwi side lost 6 out of its 24 games on tour. The AB side lost because they struggled to score tries. Noothing else. The calls for a penalty try even points out that fact. They could not even score a try against the big unions like WP and NTVL.
Like I said leave the referee blaming for us. We are good at that shit.
But its not the referee. Its just look like that way because we supporters view from a bias point of view with lots of emotions poured into it.
We are not brought up to cheat. We like to win but we like to do it fairly. That is our culture. So thinking we would destroy partss of our culture to win a rugby match you do not know South Africans.
We are good at blaming refs because bent kiwi refs are the worst!
End of story
Oh Beeno cmon. Be honest. How many Currie Cup finals when seeing your Blue Bull mate or Natal mate you pointed fingers at the referee? We all do it. From the isolation days and onwards. But we et over it and accept it later on that we lost because the team we supported played like crap or did not front up on the day. Its better than starting conspiracy theories about poisoned milk and all that crap. And then get conned by a security guard making a bucket load of money out of ignorant supporters by selling a book writing any bullshit init.
At least blaming the referee we are not being conned with bullshit books
Ka Mate, how u doing mate? Before you jump in on a post, please do some research on what has been said prior so you dont look like a prick. Anyway, would rather have lower level of rugby knowledge than low levels of any form of knowledge that you so clearly suffer from boet. You will notice we had guys speaking of stats so if stats are so important, is that not a stat worth noting? It was further proof that "stats" are not all they seem and never tell a full story.
Sas, why do teams give away MULTIPLE penalties? Not just one or two but multiple. Pressure. Pressure exerted from dominance. I do not worry about stats showing the AB's ran 200 metres more than the boks. The Boks kick more therfore Dagg has 30 metres of space in front of him before meeting our defensive line. AB's kick to us, we kick it back. That is just the game plan they play so you are always going to have more "running metres" and Boks are always going to miss slightly more tackles as AB's run it more. The Boks wait for the "right" times whereas AB's have a crack more often. That is why you will always have more line breaks (expect that to reverse this year) so now you can see how game plans influence stats so that they dont tell a full story. Obviously with AB's running it much more, Boks will miss slightly more tackles as they are asked to make a lot more.
All I am saying is forget stats and watch the game. Forget tries scored. SA missed two 1 on 1 with the line. Signs of a new, unsettled team but still put up that showing. Go watch the game and give NZL all the points they had on offer. Every opportunity to score a point, add it in. Do the same for the Boks and tell me what the score would have been. Forget "blinding" stats man. 2 different game plans! Often a AB would break the first tackle but be met by 2 defenders 3 metres on. That counts as a missed tackle and a line break as he broke the first line of defence but really, it sounds like he broke a tackle and ran 50 metres up field which is not the case. Stats never tell a true story and I will say it again, with AB's running the ball more, they are always going to get more "line breaks" and "slipped tackles!"
@Polyboy nice stats but unfortunately it doesn't tell you the story like of how that tries were scored. No through good AB running rugby mate. They were more South African type of scores. Midfield cocking up and AB pick up a loose ball and scored.
The penalty try is a if. Was never scored nor awarded so its irrelevant. What IF the referee sin binned McCaw in this and that match we would have won. Can you see where this going to lead? Road to nowhere. So like us just get over it. We did but then again like I said we are not spoiled with wins and will later make any excuse if that loss comes.
Do me a favor show me a team photo of the NZ team who played in the 1956 2nd test vs SA? I can show you photo's of the first and other tests cause AB won.
And we do not go blame Kevin Skinner and a referee for the losses in 1956. We blamed ourselves and the way we played.
As for wee Samoans thing. That you should laugh of. Its just wind uup banter. You must understand we had build up a massive provincial rivalry between teams. And wind up banter is just part of us. In the end its just a joke and nothing serious meant by it. Just like a English man can tell you hello you silly cunt and will laugh altough it sounded like a insults its just part of their banter.
I love the Samoans dude Eliotta is one of my followers on twitter. Just like us and any other rugby player in the world when they step onto that field its search and destroy but after it they have a laugh together. Just like supporters do
