Jacques van Rooyen

Why is no one talking about his performance this season? He has been nothing short of monstrous for the Lions.

Did anyone take notice of his try? He literally carried 2 players on his back, on his way to the tryline!

I'd be very happy to see him get a call up to the Bok squad. he most be one of the hardest working and talented props in the country!

 Lol I heard a kiwi bleating this morning, insisting that it wasn't a try ..... saying van Rooyen was held up!

 Read an article that said his try was the turning point in the game. I agree.

I agree. van Rooyen has had a great season. His contributions to the Lions has been immense and he seldom receives any credit for it. Absolute raw power. I'm hoping to see how he goes against Franks. That should give us a clear indication of his potential.

To think that Dylan Smith kept him out of the starting 15 for so long speaks volumes for Smith.

I would MUCH prefer van Rooyen in at 1 over Beast ... but we both know that's not going to happen.

Yep what has the Beast done...why would playing in 90 tests and hardly ever getting in trouble scrumming impress anybody.

 So because Beast has played in 90 tests  performance is of not needed in his case.   Are you not really open to change your mind and look at actual performance for a change.   Are we still to be blinded by reputation and age - Mozart style?

Beast has been largely ineffectual in the past few years.
I think people will agree that as of late, his selection has been based on race rather than on performance.

 
He's mediocre. 

Why select a tired old horse when you have so much better available?

You cannot differ from Mozart because he does not recognise performance as a selection requirement  I can remember many tests in the last three years Where Beasts scrumming was substandard and he approached .
He is at this stage a quota selection with both Kitshoff and Van Rooyen better performers.   

Disagree......all our props including Redlinghuis, Malherbe, Dreyer and Nyakane have been drilled in tests in recent years, including 2016. The one player who never has been is the Beast. A few months ago there were howls for Kitshoff, but he has never been imposing at test level....now based on one Coenie like run it's van Rooyen. ... The Beast is undoubtedly reaching the end of his career, but we still don't have a more reliable scrummager.

Na, don't agree. The beast has "held his own" at scrum time, but for the rest of the time, he looks like a tired donkey that needs to be put to rest in the barn.

Being in retreat at rocket pace against the Argentines still belongs to Beast and Jannie - but you knows Zero about rugby and less about scrumming  so your fuylminations is as per normal BS and lies.

Exactly Chippo ... he is tired ... and we've all seen an immediate improvement in our scrum when he's replaced.

He should have been sent out to pasture ages ago.

He's a liability ... one of many that need replacing.

Yes Mike ... I fully agree that he is a quota pick. The same goes for Bongi. Actually the only ones deserving of their spot in the front row is Marx and Kitshoff. I wish someone would wake up and see Marutllule for the talent he is.
