According to this article, Joke White's contract at Montpellier will not be renewed next year.

The reason?

Well apart from the fact that Joke is a very average and overrated coach, the Montpellier owner is still annoyed that Joke applied for the England job when it became available.

In typical Joke White style, he was ready to renege on his contract and jump at a better opportunity . . . as he did at the Brumbies . . . and the Sharks before that. It remains to be seen if anyone will be stupid enough to hire this opportunistic job-hopper once he's replaced after the 2016/17 season.

Hope he stays overseas is all I can say.

Altrad is wise to get rid of the unreliable White.
It's only a matter of time before Jake drops him in the dwang.
He's well known for it. I'm surprised he was appointed to begin with.

This is exactly the reason why White is an impossible person to contend with as a coach.   The man is just not reliable and he makes enemies easily.   White's roll at Montpellier in contracting 24 foreign players is also a problem - it is supposed to be a FRENCH club site, not the Barbarian mix it  is at present inevitably also played a roll in the scenario.   He has been heavily criticized in the French media because of it and I would not be surprised if that is not an issue as well.
By the way I wonder what will happen to his soul mate Fat Fransie next year with White leaving Montpellier.

The owners of these French clubs sound like inflated egos . The buy these rugby teams like a toy and want to be the centre of attention.
Although Jake White was stupid to once again express interest in another job-

Jake might as well come out and admit it: he wants to coach at test level and will jump at every opportunity to do so.

Funny stuff. The English head coach search was settled in November last year and Altrad has supposedly nurtured his discontent all that time? He keeps Jake on for the season, keeps him on through the whole off season.....and then supposedly his indignation gets the better of him and he acts.
It's perfectly obvious, something else triggered this event and the owner has used the England thing as an excuse. Don't believe everything you read.

It is entirely logical,   White had a two year contract with Montpellier and the club owner got mad at him when he tried to get the English coaching job - not mad enough to terminate the contract midway through the Montpellier season.   I bet you they were looking for a good coach ever since.  It is clear that they put specific requirements down as a basis.
I think that he will have to find another job - but it is clear that would be difficult bearing in mind his history.   Wonder what will happen to Fat Fransie - nobody bar perhaps the weaker Japanese clubs will contract him.

Piffle....Jake would have taken a lucrative buy out. So instead they announce his departure 20% of the way through the season, putting the entire budget at risk with the team being run by a lame duck. More here than meets the eye.

And it's confirmed.

The same link I provided in the opening comment has now been updated to confirm that Scotland coach Vern Cotter will be replacing Joke White at Montpellier at the end of the current season.

Gregor Townsend will be replacing Vern Cotter as Scotland coach.

As for this speculation as to why Joke got dumped, I doubt it's a big mystery. The Montpellier owner is sick of paying big money to see his side play uninspiring Jakeball.

He's also twigged that Joke can't be trusted to honour his agreements . . . although you would have thought he would have realized this when he first signed him!

What Jake would accept and what the Club would consider is vastly different.   Rooinek is very near the mark.  Jakeball is not acceptable anymore and Montpellier loses when they play Jakeball and the opponents play rugby.   However, if White was so good - would the club not extend his contract?

So they keep a disenfranchised coach on Board to save double payment on what 5% of their cost  budget, and in the process put their whole revenue stream at risk. I have seen this Neanderthall logic before in rugby arguments. No trained businessman would even consider leaving a demotivated man in charge for 8 months.

Motzart I din't know why you bother to respond to the continual snapping. Logic and reason does not apply the the majority of threads. The characters are too entrenched in their opinions. Jake may not be perfect but with the SA set up who the hell can be. .. he is a hell of a lot better than anything that has come after him. Having said that HM got us to the knock out. That is never ever going to happen again.

 Yes he did.
He also coached the Bok side that lost to Japan.

True and that will forever be a black day in Bok history. Had Div or AC been in charge we would never have made it out of the group. AC couldn't beat a 14 strong Irish B team!Poor selections and ga me plan but I have to say I just loved HM passion, he wore his heart on his sleeve. The cut aways to the coaches box during the games were priceless.

Yes, I also liked HM's passion. Pity he was such a poor selector and couldn't develop a game plan.

Joke White was also a poor selector who couldn't develop a game plan but - unlike Heyneke Meyer - he had the passion of a robot and was about as likeable as a plate of cold vomit.
