I can't wait to see how Saff is going to explain why JW is still a crap coach. Without using the exhausted old arguments of the Brumbies easy run of games last year, and the 63% or whatever win ratio when he was with the Boks. Actually, I don't care what stupid argument you are going to use, Jake is a bloody good coach! He turned the Brumbies into a very competative side in one season, yes they missed last years play-offs, but were only pipped by the Reds in the final round. He turned them around with a squad of unknowns. This year they are the team to beat. They are very well coached, and the return of some of the old players, who Saff is convinced serve no purpose, was a masterstroke from white that has helped make up a VERY rounded team/squad.

I am ready for the name calling etc etc....but I want a solid argument, or an aknowledgment of your stupidity on the subject.

I think that White is a str coach.  He obviously made a study of the Sharks display in the previous rounds and targetted the weak spots relentlessly.   That made him the real top coach he has always been.

The weaknesses that became evident to him were the props - especially jannie Du Plessis - as well as the hooer and then also to have Kankowski and Damiel as loosies.  One of them is OK -two together is not.   And I myself think that Daniel was not really matchfit as yet after his injury.

The other realy weak spot in the backline was Steyn - the Brumbies targetted hm and his defence was poor   They also used his kicking game against him - he was poor in that as well.   They also know he was weak in attack and could therefore target Lambie and forget about Steyn.

Plumtree has a lotof homework to do and so has Coetzee.   I for some reasons think that the Stormers senior players are not going to lie down and be kicked apart like the Sharks were.   They are going to fight back.   The key for Coetzee would be to study the game plan of the Brumbies this past week and devise his own selections accordingly.   If Coetzee for instance pick Jantjies and De Jongh in the backline - it would be game over for the Stormers as well.   It would be interesting to see what Coetzee comes up with.

I have never said he was useless, I have said he is an average coach and stand by that. So his side beat the Sharks who in my view were taught a physical lesson which was always on the cards given the make up of the forwards.

Hell the S15 is not won in March, get a grip man. The Brumbies and Jake have done well in four matches, does that make them hero's?

SOme good points Mike, can't argue with your logic. Daniel and Kanko are the same type of player, effective in space and with ball in hand, but what the Sharks lacked was a hard nosed heavy weight loosies. Deysel and Alberts injuries hit them very hard in this area.

As for the Stormers, their forwards should be a lot more competative. It has to be Grant to start, I agree 100% with you regarding Jantjes. The Stormers need to play structured game and Grant is the man for that job. Regarding the coaching of Coetzee, and your take on him studying the gameplan, I agree that he should and will do that, but the problem is, Jake will be doing the same thing, and I think he is the better coach, so the Stormers will be up against it.

Easier said than done, Mike. This is Coetzee and his able assistant, Fleckie, that we are talikng about. LOL.

The season is just getting going Saff, can't argue with you there, so things may well change. My point is this, the Brumbies punched well above their weight last year, and now that Jake has had time to settle and the team as well, they are more than just a flash in the pan team, they are proper title contenders. The result on Saturday did flatter the Brumbies a little, because the Sharks were well under par. The loss of the Sharks two heavy weight forwards, Deysel and Alberts, probabaly had a lot to do with the result. But White still got away with a bonus point victory away from home, against what is arguably South Africa's strongest team. The Brumbies were well coached and got a just result.

I disagree, Jake is not average. He is at the very least amongst the top three coaches in the tournament, but probably the best in my opinion.

No Jake achieved nothing with the Brumbies last year, they failed to make the top 6 and played all the bottom of the table sides bar one or two. Sas provided a breakdown of the sides the Brumbies played last year - it was an eye opener.

Jake is nowhere near the best coach in the competition. He is no better than Plumtree, but I'd say he is better than Ludeke and Coetzee. The Kiwi coaches like Kirwan and co are better
