This is Jakes Whites justification for his selections.

If Jordaan was fit he said that he would probably have started with Frans at 10.

For Mvovo at 15, it is because he wants pace on the field to counter attack. Perhaps due to the Sharks weakening lineout and the Bulls beating them at the territory game. Ngunaie was considered at fullback with his past experience, but White opted against it.

The Sharks have a good scrum so a knock on could be better than conceding a lineout with limited territorial game.

Looks like SP Marais has been deemed slow and offering little on the counter attack

A lot has been said about Marais play......he has had some good games.
Many have predicted that he is a Bok #15, not so sure myself.
I prefer le Roux and Lambie in those slots.

I know you aw a great Francois Steyn admirer and so was I.   However, his performances this year did not come up to expectation.  His goal kicking was excellent - the rest of his game under serious question marks.  Handing over possession to the opposition 11 times and penalties conceded  (7) in five games make me wonder about him as a real contributor to the Sharks backline.
I hope he comes right and produce some really good rugby on Saturday - since the Sharks really needs a top class performance from him.   There is however, a lot of things that would need improvement and I must say frankly it is rather hope than certainty.

I am sure Jake White knows exactly what is happening on the field of play and also statistically wise.
We reallu do not know what happens in the team room and behind the scenes.  White will not say anything in public about his players - but whether they really get away with poor play will be will be discussed with them after games.
I believe that White is a perfectionist and if a player he coaches keeps on making the same mistakes and not mend his shortcomings the player will ultimately suffer the consequences.

My oh my. What a revelation. Frans Steyn has obviously suffered some serious consequences for his shortcomings. Since the beginning of the S15 he was only subbed once and that in the 77th minute. So, you are either talking kak about how White deals with players who have many shortcomings or you are talking kak about all Frans Steyn's shortcomings. Make your choice. Which one is it?

Plumtree went even further than White did  -  he made Steyn his captain last year and Steyn repaid him by performance flops getting worse in every match.  The public caught on and Plumtree's hand was forced.  Plumtree got blamed for the flops - but White is above criticism and there is not much said about failing players he selects.
Steyn this year is doing the same - but White is apparently still believing he can get him better.  Besides that Jake has a problem at center.   Williams showed nothing in the Lions game and Esterhuizen is very inexperienced - while Jordaan is on the injury list.
So despite poor performances White has to put up with him - not because he is so good - but due to the absence of alternatives.

The best Bok 15 since Monty's retirement is Kirchner, and he has been very solid under Meyer in particular. Lambie has done nothing at 15, as always he just coasts along. Willie was a flop at 15. Marais shows some potential as a natural, specialist 15. Not ready yet, but as an understudy to Kirchner we are sorted at 15. He certainly isn't slow, but Mvovo is extremely quick, and as the Sharks are very dangerous off turnover ball it makes sense to have him as an alternative. In my opinion Jake wants to push Marais for more.

Pfffffffffhahahahaha!

No surprise that the same half-wit who thinks Israel Folau is an untalented "snail" also thinks that the plodder Zane Kirchner is South Africa's best fullback in a decade!

Has there ever been a more ignorant contributor on this board than Dim Sum?

LMAO!

Yeah i am with Rooi here, Kirchner does the basic fullback functions well enough, but he has zero X-factor. Willie Le Roux type magic cannot be taught. He may have weaknesses, but his creativity is glod. Kirchner can only dream of such things.
As for Steyn, for me the jury is still out. I have never been a fan, and he was as useless as a chocolate teapot last year, but his game has improved a lot this year. If he can keep improving there may yet be a space for him in the Bok setup.

I remember there was a South Park episode some time ago where they ripped off the Scientologists and they had to put up captions saying "This is what Scientologists really believe!" to keep reminding viewers that they weren't making anything up and there were in fact people in the world stupid enough to believe some of the bizarre garbage that Scientology promotes.

I find I want to do the same thing when I quote Dim Sum . . . I feel the need to put up warnings saying "This is what Dim Sum really believes!" so that people don't think I'm making it up that Dim Sum would seriously select the useless Zane Kirchner as a fullback ahead of Israel "8 tries in 4 games" Folau!

Oh dear the fool who doesn't rate Eben Etzebeth, wanted Russell to play Bok flyhalf and wanted to replace John as Bok captain, with Luke Watson .....still thinks his opinions deserve to be read. Luke Watson as Bok captain, was there ever a worse call, but that's what RipRooi really believed.

It is so ....and now we have the deep dive.....waaahahahaha. This guy has a collection of goofs you wont believe.  Part of the reason RipRooi wanted Watson was he supposedly spoke better English. And I can't argue with that, Luke  certainly was much more adept in talking about himself.

Bluebok, you should know by now what a disgusting and reprehensible liar Moffie is.
The sad  and deceitful little attention-seeker is trying so hard to get me to respond to him that he's resorted to more of his pathetic lies in the hope that I'll rise to his rancid bait.
The last time I rated Luke Watson as a player was when he was still playing openside flanker for the Sharks and I never once called for him to be captain of anyone. Pinocchio PantsOnFire is also manipulating things that I said with his other claims. It's the usual childish garbage, he takes something I said and then twists it to suit his argument and then tries to peddle it as the truth. As an example, I've said on many occasions that I don't like Eben Etzebeth's attitude and his attempts to be the enforcing tough guy, but I rate him very highly as a player and anyone who's read my posts . . . anyone with a shred of integrity or honesty that is . . . knows this.
The Brent Russell lie is also a comment that's been manipulated and twisted. I once called Brent Russell's 2002 performance at flyhalf against the Wallabies - when he replaced the injured Andre Pretorius at the last minute - one of the best Springbok performances in recent memory and of course, the decrepit old coffin-dodger with the forked-tongue spent the next few months of his life shrieking that I wanted Russell as permanent Springbok flyhalf.
The fact that the sad old loser thinks I need to "deep dive" because of his stinking lies is further proof that he's a delusional and self-absorbed loser. As if I pay enough attention to him and his lies to actually care or avoid him . . . waaaaaaaaahahahahahaha!

Think most of you guys are off track with the topic!

Would agree with Jake. Steyn has played some great rugga and so has Mvovo.

Personally i would have put SP Marais in at fullback. Not sure why he has been blamed for the incorrect gameplan against the bulls. He is very safe and in good form. As Jake has put him on the bench i would have either Odwa or JP at fullback instead of Mvovo who should be wing.

Interesting to see four wings in the sharks backline. We cant complain about lack of speed !

Rip you have never proven I have lied once...but you are lying right here on this thread. Every word I said above is the gospel truth. But I'm not surprised that a guy who lied directly to the question of whether Jalapeño was actually Rooinek, would lie again through his teeth.
As for the arrangement where you are too chicken to take me on....I understand your reluctance, but have a good laugh every now and then at how you must be grinding your teeth.

So you say you never rated Luke Watson after he left the Sharks? Here is the form Bok team you picked after the conclusion of the 2006 S 14. I quote:

1 Deon Carstens

2  Schalk Brits

3 BJ Botha

4 Ross Skeate

5 Victor Matfield

6 Luke Watson

7 Juan Smith

8 A J Venter

9 Ruan Pienaar

10 Bradley Barritt/Earl Rose/Meyer Bosman

11 O Ndungane

12 Jean de Villiers

13 Jaque Fourie

14 A Ndungane

15 J P Pietersen

Excuse me for reproducing the whole team, but you have to admit, it's hilarious. It shows your great admiration for a bunch of useless players like Deon Carstens, Brad Barritt and of course Luke Watson. This was in 2006 and Watson left the Sharks after 2004. So of course you are lying....game, set and match.

Breath-mints, Baboon-ou, breath mints! Take some breath-mints before you post. Please!
Some years ago I jokingly suggested that the Springboks should play one of the Ndungane twins in the first half and sneak the other one on in the second half and no-one would ever know the difference . . . and here's the liar Moffie trumpeting how I would have picked both Ndungane twins . . . while Baboon-ou frantically licks Moffie's wrinkled arse clean trying to find some favour with his master.
It's really not a very pretty sight!

The anatomy of a lie... Another one of course....
According to Mr. Stupid Mike "Dipshit = Steyn was placed on the bench long before he was injured."

According to official SANZAR records:

Sharks vs Chiefs: 27 Apr 2013 - Frans Steyn starts at 13
Sharks vs Highlanders: 4 May 2013 - Frans Steyn starts at 13 (The match where he was injured)

 Tthe Troof Fairy
If you know anything about rugby - which I doubt - you would know that Steyn started as no 12 center in the following games last year:-
*   Cheetahs - 23 February 2013*   Stormers  - 2 March 2013*   Kingts      - 9 March 2013*   Brumbies  - 16 March 2013
He got progressively worse in each game and was a fiasco.  Plumtree then brought in Bosman at 12 and benched Steyn for the following games:
*   Rebels    -  23 march 2013*   Crusaders -  5 April 2013*   Stormers   - 13 April 2013*   Cheetahs  -  20 April 2013  The Sharks then went on tour to Australasia.  Before they could play a match there Jordaan was injured in training and returned to SA.   After Jordaan was injured Plumtree had a serious problem and brought back Steyn to play at 13 in Jordaan's place. He started at 13 in two games and was injured in the second game.
Steyn was benched as from 23 March 2013 and only started in the later games because of the Jordaan injury.
Now go back to your pram and do not try and discuss things on a forum where people know what they talk about.

Awww shame.... when you revert to attempt at insults like this, I know you are hopelessly lost in a your FANTASY(rugby) world again....

I suggest you go and find out what Steyn's performances were in those two matches after he returned to the starting line-up.

No-one denied that he struggled with form at the start of the season, as he was overweight and he was coming back from another injury... By the time he played those two matches, he had already lost about 10kg and was returning to great form...

That team is embarrasing! Shocking, woeful. A good laugh too. I believe it was this stooge who called for Jean De Villiers to play 10 in 2004.

"No surprise that the same half-wit who thinks Israel Folau is an untalented "snail" also thinks that the plodder Zane Kirchner is South Africa's best fullback in a decade!"

Folau was a chief culprit in the Aussies whitewash pasting against the Boks and All Blacks. Routinely beating on the outside, inside, every which way for pace.. he was nowhere. I particularly loved those deep run backs that got repeatedly turned over. He made a couple of good breaks but nothing came of it and the negatives far outweigh the positives. If you think Wales is a better bench mark than the All Blacks and Springboks than fine, you will no doubt say I am wrong, but I'm sure most would agree the invernse.

As per Kirchner? Year in and year out he was among the best contributing players for assists in Super rugby. He is a hard runner that can take contact and offload. He can also defend (loved that head-on hit on Hore, knocking him back), and can kick. He was the form fullback of the Rugby Championship and a key player in the Bok backline resurgence. Willie made too many mistakes and will only offer the chip time and time again. Of course the Willie fan girls opined that these were "good mistakes" that really were integral in taking the boks forward. I on the only gand laugh that the player with supposedly the most x-factor is the player that kicks the most at fullback. At wing he formed a good combination with Kirchner and Habana, that was another story altogether.

And it's not a decade, it's six years. Monty retired on the 30th August 2008, not 2004.
