Bearing form and consistency in mind, the 23-man squad I would field in the quarter-final is as follows:

1. Steven Kitshoff
2. Bongi Mbonambi
3. Frans Malherbe
4. Eben Etzebeth
5. Franco Mostert
6. Siya Kolisi
7. Pieter-Steph Du Toit
8. Duane Vermeulen
9. Cobus Reinach
10. Handre Pollard
11. Makazole Mapimpi
12. Frans Steyn
13. Lukhanyo Am
14. S’bu Nkosi
15. Cheslin Kolbe

Subs: 16 Vincent Koch, 17 Tendai (Beast) Mtawarira, 18 Schalk Brits, 19 RG Snyman, 20 Francois Louw, 21 Herschel Jantjies, 22 Damian Willemse, 23 Damian de Allende.

>.................................................

I can't say I agree with all his picks, but he has put his finger on some problems eg Dud at 12. He is also not impressed with Lomp's bully boy play against weak opposition and keeps faith with our work horse Mostert.

Dalton is a refreshing commentator, not paying lip service to all the conventional beliefs.

Dalton is also suggesting [like me] Kolbe at XV, who could be even more effective on the attack from XV.

Koble would have more opportunity to counter-attack, and he is also safer under the high ball, and has a better touch finding boot than Leroux

Having Kolbe atXV would also free up a spot on the wing for Nkosi. Although Willie Leroux did play well in his most recent test as a play-maker...

This, however, should have been tested before the world cup, instead of playing Damien Willemse at XV. If Leroux was injured, the Boks are without a quality backup- other than Willemse who needs more time.

I am not convinced about Reinach. It was Canada who was hopeless in the first half.          Reinach is Hougaard version 2.0. In a tight test match, his basic skills might not be good enough. While his pass is much better than Hougaard, he does not have the same passing skills as Hershell Jantjes or Faff (assuming in form).

Mostert is mobile and can get to more breakdown's than Lomp, but is it horses for courses, or donkeys. Lomp is the better option at lineouts, and the Boks have been effective at this world cup with rolling mauls from 5-metre lineouts.

Good points Shark, but I don't believe we have a better lineout forward than Mostert. He steals oppo ball regularly and is money on his own ball.

Shifty Schiff Strzok

The idiot at it again - he likes the team that was selected by the biggest idiot I have seen playing rugby - the guy that nearly took SA out of the 1995 WC.

When somebody goes rogue it is necessary to point out why he is a rogue and the SS-S idiot has done it.

I laugh about how he lies and then pretend it is the truth.   Mostert is the weakest line-out jumper in the squad and was not used for the purpose in two matches this year to jump in line-outs because in the RC test against the AB' s Mostert was dominated by the AB's and in the subsequent RC game against Argentina and the WC game against the AB's he was cut out too.   No - the man is a top class liar as well.

Dalton clearly took too many blows to the head - selecting Mostert and Frans tells me he is as clueless as they come

The Japs field a mobile eight sixty kg pack. You could get away with playing the big engine mobile Mostert but not again in this RWC. Mostert could do a job for us against the Japs. Wonder how that rugby genius Rassi e sees it?

I prefer the more robust forward when going into the business end of the competition and that is why I will keep with Lood and not Mostert.

Pity Ruan Pienaar was never under consideration. He is playing excellent rugby for the Cheetahs at this stage. Ja, ja, I know it is not the same level, but still.

Let me explain again what happened in 1995 and why I referred to it above.   In 1995 there was a rule that somehow what would nowadays be called red card offence happened in any game and a player send off could have an impact on what happened should for some reason or another a play-off game could not be played.   In that case the game would be awarded to the team without a send-off nowadays called a red card offence,

So now back to the game against Canada in 1995.  People would probably remember the game also because of the fact that the start of the game was delayed for about an hour because of a power failure. However, it was a very ill-tempered game and Dalton was sent off the field for a serious case of assault on a Canadian player.

So now lets get to the French game in the play-offs in Durban.  The day before the game was played there was torrential rain in Durban and rain continued to hours before the game started , but there  was still showers even during the game,  The Kings Park field could not cope with the situation and Dr Luyt nearly went mad when it was reported to him that playing of the game would not be possible due to the condition of the field.   He managed to get extra experts and companies  in to have the field drained so as to allow for the game to start.  It was still a mud-bath but the game eventually was played.

If the game was not played SA would have been out of the WC because of the Dalton lunacy.   The guy was never the wisest player around - as dim as they could be - and now SS-S says we must take into account his  suggestions about team selection,   What a lark, LMAO      .

Hmm...so now the word out of second childhood is Dalton is no expert... 'as dim as they could  be'.  Interesting. Dalton was our starting hooker in every one of the tests in our  17 game winning streak, the longest in Bok history. But he knows less rugby than a bent Provincial government grunt.
Funny stuff.

Mostert adds huge value to the team, it will be interesting to see what has been lost. Counter intuitively Dud might have to play tighter, because Mostert protects the ball in every phase, I doubt Lazy Lomp  can sustain that.

Mostert protects the ball??? The guy never adds any value with the ball in hand unless he finds himself in space. If he takes it up he never makes an impression and his attempted clear outs are a joke The guy simply is not physical enough to make the desired impression. Why would anyone entertain a lightweight lock in this modern age. It’s just sad Rassie has taken this long to realise this What you see in this pretender is beyond me

My latest resolution is to be kind and considerate to you.  Please give me any example where  "Mostert protects the ball in every phase" because I have never really saw that in any match he played in.

Why bother, you just ignore facts, even totally dispositive visual  footage. Stick your resolution where all your other resolutions came from.

Imagined facts (your special field) or real facts?  I asked a serious question about a statement made by you and all you can come up with is a response that has nothing to do with the question asked,

Please give us examples of ball protection on the part of Mostert and visuals will be particularly welcome.

So we have another case of a statement being made with no evidence to support it at all and everybody by now know what that means.
