Firstly caught in no mans land for Jordaan's try and secondy, in the 46th min he is caught ball watching and skinned on the outside by Jordaan.

This is the man Dave reckons should knock Jean De Villiers off his perch RIGHT NOW!! I am not convinced at all.

50 mins gone and still a very quiet game from the much talked about centre pairing of the Bulls. Crossing fingers that doesn' t change though.

48th minute and Serfontein is bumped off his feet from a far superior player in Steyn.

Belittling?? I think you are a little confused Keegan. I am just not convinced what all the hype is about him right now and definitely sure he is nowhere near the player JDV is.I am just stating facts..Not belittling the oke.
You are clearly a Bulls supporter so if you dont like the facts, stay off the thread.
Oh and Shezza, it must be gospel now that you have said it! If no centre could stop it, why not run the play every move??

haha i am a bulls supporter but im an SA supporter first, i agree with you that he isnt ready to take JVD place yet but he is the future 12 of SA, and you must be a sharks supporter to find fault in someones game who had nothing but defense to do.
Bok mate must not play rugby, no play works twice once you see it once you dont fall for it again.
Tbh you cant take anything from this game from the bulls center pairing as they didnt even get the ball just defense, however what you can take from this game is steyn is look bright for a return using his head and jordaan has good pace and line running, be good to them against others but it looks bright for you!
Im a fair supporter bud ill say when the bulls play shit which they did today the game plan is useless amd we didnt use the big weapon of the centers as personally i think jan would targeted lambie and jordaan but fair play to styen he did make him sit down! haha
IMO sharks look strong and some players are becoming better than last year coetreez was a beast today

 Boklogic

I am not really impressed by either of the Bulls centers.   Jordaan virtually played the fool with Engelbrecht and I do not expect that from a Springbok center.

I was disappointed when Serfontein got into clear and had only one player to beat - but was hauled in by Jordaan - does he have a bit of a speed problem?

Steyn had a very quiet first half - but did a couple of good things in the second half.   The competition was not strong insofar as the two center positions are concerned but for 12 and 13 for the team of the week it should be 12  Steyn and 13 Jordaan.

Jan Serfontein was considered the heir apparent for the number 12 position, but no more.
He was completely outplayed by Frans Steyn who will now be pushing Jean for the starting position.
Serfontien does appear to lacks pace and his step seems pretty average. (old man Jean Devilliers is much faster even past his prime!)
It looks like he also has a tendency to allways step of the same foot which is probably picked up by opposing defenses .

Bulls got completely outplayed by the Sharks, it wasn't a one vs one situation were one player triumphed.
Boklogic, teams adapt, all the Bulls had to do was widen their defence  or play a better rush defence to shut Lambie down before he could get his pass of to Mvovo.
Bulls are screwing Serfontein over, he plays in a team that doesn't support backline plays but brute force. Bulls need a new coach.

Sharkbok:  yes F. Steyn looked really good, he is the player who stands out in my mind. Especially when you consider that it was the first game of the season.
Cornal Hendricks had a good game & earned me some points for fantasy rugby so he also sticks out in my mind but he is nowhere near Steyn in overall ability of course.

Apologies. I was simply going to add Serfontein has been cruising based on his junior reputation. To me he looks, slow, not particularly strong and a serial inside stepper.

Keagan, you the one that must not have played the game if you think a move wont work twice once you have seen it. If that is the case, why do the Bulls try the drive all the time?? A move can work as many times as you make it work. Its about earning the right and once that is done, execution.
Mvovo was not invisible. It was 1st phase ball and a "smart" defence ie. Stormers and JDV would have seen Mvovo and expected him to get it or at least cover him running a dummy line. Serfontein rushed up and got caught in no mans land.I am not saying he is the only one at fault there but fact is, from 1st phase ball, the good centres dont get themselves into those positions. Rushing up on 3rd or 4th phase is much different than 1st phase as the attackers are usually not as fluently placed and you can identify mismatches. You are also not seperated  by 25 metres (the defence back 10m and the attackers usually at least 15m deep) and can defend as shallow as the last mans feet at the ruck so you can get up quicker with better effect.
All I am saying is you will never see defences like the AB's or Stormers breached in that manner, that easily.
JJ and Serfontein were again poor and neither should be Boks right now.Moz, you are 100% correct. Serfontein is not quick enough and thats why he relies on his inside step. Sure, ppl get mesmerized watching the bloke beat 1 or 2 defenders with an instep but it has little effect in making metres or creating tries. The cover defence usually swallows him up quick and fast!Clevermike. Agree with your post 100% except I thought Frans and Jordaan combined very well on attack and defence. Steyn had a few awesome touches. None better than the cross kick to put Ndungane over but also his long, flat pass across the face of the Bulls defence that put Jordaan into a bit of space. The game did seem to draw out about for like 25 mins in the second half but lets put it down to match sharpness.
Shezza, the reason that move worked is because Bulls rushed up too quickly. You are never gona shut Lambie down on 1st phase ball. Not possible. He wanted them to rush up at him so he can get a last second pop off to Mvovo in space and the Bulls played into his hands.

From a Bok point of view all is good. We suddenly have two more centers competing for Bok honours. Jan is gifted but Hogaard is devastating that backline. Van Zyl MUST start. Bulls need a quicksilver scrummie and van Zyl is their man. Same as last year when vermaak came on they looked far better.Visser needs to attack the line at times or they need a new 15. Wonder how Hougie would go at 15!

Dave, search "sharks vs bulls 2015" in YouTube and freeze the 5min video at 2.05 mins and that's what no mans land looks like in terms of rugby defence. Sharks ran a switch an Serfontein had 3 possible attackers to cover all of about 5metres of space. Guess how many of the defenders he would have successfully tackled??You guessed it. None. He rushed up being beaten for pace on his outside by Jordaan, he never laid a finger in Lambie or Mvovo either. He rushed up ahead of his buddies and was caught in no mans land. That created the hole for Lambie or Mvovo to walk through!
You will try counter this but you are and idiot so don't waste your time. Review the video and look at what a fool Serfontein looked like. You are right though Dave. He is better than JDV. Ha ha fucken goon!

Geez Dave about your 100 pound bet, I hope you were not alluding to JJs brief run before the Fouche drop ....Shown on the BL video at minute 1.00. JJ never stepped Fransie. He just ran laterally back into the forwards. Fransie just let him go knowing he was heading straight into defenders. You owe me  100.

Wrong Moz, he slips past Frans with ease......you don't normally let a player slip past you in the hope that your team mates tackle him. Nope JJ beat Frans with ease

Saff bok is right jan was in no mans land much like many centers would be, boc you say abs or stomers wouldn't fall for a try like that? didn't the abs let habana score a try similar off a set piece from a lineout in the championship which won him try of the year?
And i do play rubgy buddy im just pointing out a try like that rarely works twice a year let alone a game? bulls bully the ball up the field is a different matter to a finess try like the one we are discussing??
Tbh JJ and jan didn't even get the ball enough to make an impact like styen and jordann did that's no me saying that they didn't have poor games they did, also remember there young and still need some time to learn like every player JVD wasn't as good at reading the game as he is now when he was jan age jan will learn to read the game better on defense, as for his speed the kid isn't slow and most 12 are not built with pace i mean sonny bill yes but many like tuilagi haven't got pace. Give him time he is 2 years older than me and 1000 times the player i will ever be so ill wait as see he is one for the future and while you have the use of JDV i would keep jan in SA team to learn from him

How was Serfontein in no mans land

How in one breath can you say that JJ and Serfontein did not get enough ball to make an impression and then say they had poor games - what utter bullshit - in what possible way did they have poor games??????

he was in no mands land as he is a 12 he should always have the a reciever lined up in his sights ready to tackle, if you watch the game he had one either side of him poor play you defend from the inside out. Thats plain and simple defense.
they both had poor games as JJ missed a few tackles and also with the times he got the ball in hand he was 1st pushed backwards and then he knocked the ball on! poor game by my standards
Jan although had good tackles he had to be assisted in many of them on the big blokes and also hardly made any ground when given the chances.
Although they didnt get many chances they didnt do anything with the ones they were handed.
Hey im a bulls supporter and even ill say that was a poor game for them

You are speaking utter shit and you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Serfontein would have been marking his man, no one can be expected to cover your man and a wing running a great line and receiving a perfectly timed pass from his flyhalf......if you dont know that, its because you have never played the game.

JJ missed a few tackles did he, stop speaking shit.....the stats say otherwise. JJ was never pushed backwards with the ball. The first time he got the ball he breezed past Frans and took contact, presenting the ball for 2nd phase, the next two times he received the ball it was in traffic and he took contact and again set up 2nd phase.......the 4th time he got the ball he passed it. The last time he got the ball, he spilt a high pass, regathered it and then had it bashed out of his hands by a defender.

I suggest next time you decide to speak shit about players, its best to get your facts straight first

see saf im too chilled out to get into this dick measure compition with you about my facts vs your facts, the thing is if jan had his man then he would of had a man infront of him on film! but he didnt he was inbetween the two. Come on bro you cant argue with film! the only thing he could of done to stop the try was to read the run which is a hard thing to do the next best thing was he could of at least been in the right place to make the tackle on his guy if he had got the ball.
and i really didnt see when JJ slipped passed frans but hey never know im only human may have missed it but the last pass was hardly what i call high maybe a bit higher than the bread basket but nothing a super rugby man cant handle.
The funny thing is if i was "speaking shit" about players that agreed with you, you would welcome me with open arms, chill out old boy somethings arnt worth insulting people over.

Agree with your posts Keagan and regarding Saf..Dont worry about him. You join the 99.9% of us that have seen the game the same way and without prejudice.
Funny thing is Saf sings Frans Steyn's praises but is now almost saying JJ will run rings around Frans...Ha ha I just want to understand how Saf sees things so wrong when we all see it as it is which is always totall different.
Saffex, please brother, mail me some of this shit you are on..Is it a tablet or you smoking it?
