Jantjies ruled out of Stormers clash with Sharks

Elton Jantjies has a knee injury and will miss this week's Super Rugby match

Stormers flyhalf Elton Jantjies has been ruled out of this weekend's Super Rugby match against the Sharks at Newlands.

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has confirmed that Jantjies will not be available for selection due to a knee injury.

After the Stormers match against the Sharks they have a bye next weekend and then head to New Zealand to play the Hurricanes.

The Stormers also have the Blues, Waratahs and Rebels on tour and coach Coetzee expects to have Jantjies available for the tour.

Jantjies missed training last week with a chest injury but still played in the Stormers loss to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein.

Peter Grant is still out injured so Gary van Aswegen is expected to start against the Sharks.

Sasue

Bad news about jantjies - sorry he is injured.   However, from a team selection perspective it really is an advantge to the Stormers.  He definitely isthe poorest flyhalf in Super 15 and the struggling Storemrs can really do without him.   I hope they give Van Awegen a run and put Swiel on the bench

janties poor 2013 showing to date would warrant him not playing against the sharks, but i hope the stormers get a sports psychologist to help him with his game. janties problem now is aserious lack of confidence and if they can get on top of that, it will go a long way to helping janties regain some of that fantastic form he had back in 2011.

On current form I am not too concerned about either Asswagen or Jantjies. Neither have impressed me over the last 2 years, not bad just not great.

I am however very keen to get Swiel onto the pitch.

He may be young and small but his weight cant be much less than Jantjies.

I would like Swiel to get onto the pitch and if he does not get anough game time the Sharks can buy him for next year.

The last thing I want is Swiel leaving to play in England and then getting a cap for England
