Golden Lions prop JC Janse van Rensburg will fly to London on Tuesday evening to replace the injured CJ van der Linde in the Springbok squad.

Van der Linde will return home to South Africa. He picked up a hamstring injury at training on Monday.

"Seeing that Gurthrö Steenkamp was also not feeling 100% on Monday and after the late withdrawal of Tendai Mtawarira ahead of the Ireland Test, we’ve decided it would be best to have proper cover at loosehead," said Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer.

"JC is an experienced player at Super Rugby and Currie Cup level and also captained the Golden Lions very well this year.

"He’s been knocking on the national door for long and this will provide an opportunity for JC to experience the Springbok culture and structures."

Fully agree and I believe that JC should have been in the original squad.

Ou snapster is probably outraged that Kitshoff hasnt been called up. Things not looking good re JP.

Seems he has a good chance. Nice to know he is on the radar so will possibly feature next year.

Beast, JC and Kitshoff our looseheads and Jannie, Malherbe and Coenie our tightheads. Not too shabby at all!

Yes Chiproll and you could add Marcell of the Cheetahs - who unfortunately has fallen for the big bucks and gone to the bulle!. Herbst of the sharks also looks capable.

I hope JC gets a shot. All these present troubles have definitely helped deepen our resources.

No doubt about it Meyer has great talent to draw on and I will not be defending him if there is no definite improvement next year - provided of course we are not into this absurd level of injuris again. That does worry me. Another hugely gruelling Super 15 with the guys having had a rediculous schedule this year is a recipe for disaster. We HAVE TO KEEP OUR PLAYERS FIT AND FRESH.

Good choice here.    Should have gone in the first instance - Vander Linde was a crap selection and that was proved in the performances of the latter.   Hope he is in the 22 as well.

I believe Janse Van Rensburg is going to the Bulls next Super Series season.   Is that indeed the case?   If so - he would strengthen their prop situation very much.

Indications are that Steenkamp may also be out - no big loss as well.   So chances are that JC will be in the march 22

Chiproll I cannot think of a time when we had this sort of talent available. Only question is how quickly will these under 21 type be ready. Etzebeth is leading the way. I could imagine Malherbe and Kitshoff being about ready next year etc. Jan Serfontein and Goosen well maybe by 2014 . It i sVita ltha tall th siis managed well. BUT what happens if these youngsters - including Etzebeth are played match after match next year?

eople talk about game plans and i agree tha is important nut I think even with ou rcurrent game plan, which needs to improve, we could win if we manage our player swell.

Managing the players is the biggest issue we have I think. Then its the whole attack issue and the integration of the younger players into the Boks which by and large is being done well.

One has to hope this potentially golden era in Bok rugby will not be wasted for whatever reason. The pdv era was wasted as we had the players etc to rule world rugby. Now the talent pool is even better but has to be managed.

Another pathetic call by Meyer. He seems hell bent on getting as many old farts on tour as possible. The guy is clueless

Ja Dave, just about as clueless as Os was, hmmmm?

Beats me why JC was called up and Meyer does not even include him on the bench.

Guthro better than JC? - rubbish, but Guthro has the right tan.

JC has been unlucky as he had a very good Super 15. I would guess Blikkies that Meyer thought Guthro might not be fit. He also hinted that JC could feature in future - had been on his radar I think he said.

I cant help wondering if Meyer wont try to get Guthro back to SA and use this time with him to get him to return. Guthro was playing excellent rugby before he left. Not a badidea for our propsto ge tsome NH expereince. It maybe an idea that some of our backs play in NZ for a season!!!!

Blikkies I see the bulle have pinched your Marcell van der Merwe. That is a bad loss as the guy looks very promising. Also hear somewhere they are getting JC? However, last I looked the Cheetahs appeared to have a decent squad and hopefully  Sadie can regain his mojo. Rhule will make some waves too as will Sarel as always and Robert Ebersohn - who is maturing asa decison maker. Could  have a nice backline especially if Goosen is fit and partnering Van Zyl. Not too shabby at all.

Makes me more annoyed re marcell as one needs a good pack to lay the foundation.
