Just heard on the radio that Jean De Villiers will captain the Boks for the tests against England. No real surprise there.

Well to some of us he was the obvious choice. Only appointed for the Negland series. Captain will be revised for the Championship.

Agree his captaincy against the bulle was superb. He is also on the ball as one could see by his question of Kaplan re any reason why I cant award a try.

A fitting reward for an illustrious Springbok held in high regard around the world. Meyer had said he would consult the senior paleyrs on this one and their choice was Jean. Those disagreeing need now to fit a cork!

An absolute gentleman with a wide knowledge of rugby.  He was right about Kaplan trying to give the Bulls a try which was no try at all.    Only choice available since Spies is not a captain's backside - or perhaps he is.

I think he will make a decent captain, he is just to old to do the job long term. At the moment it can be argued that he is the best no.12, so he is there because he deserves to be, but that is just because of a lack of options at centre. Frans Steyn should automatically be at 13, even though he is better as a 12. We have many good centres, but none that are really special.
