IMO there is a good mix of posters on here - quite a few kiwi posters too but we all get along (more or less, lol).

No, a bunch of us were going to go, but our boys school game was too late to get to the Sharks game as well, so TV had to do.......given the result and weather, I am glad I missed it

I don't really have one, but if pushed it would have to be the Saints only because my son and many of his team mates have been in the saints academy through the years........I have been coaching rugby at Colchester for years
Where was home in SA?

And back in SA my home was/still is Umhlanga, before that it was Westville. How about you?

I was from Grahamstown in the East Cape.
Domestic rugby has always been good here........its up there with the SH, evidenced by a Saracens B team beating the Sharks.......we Saffa's arrogantly tell the world how average NH rugby is.......its all complete kak........SH rugby is better, but only marginally

Yeah, you're right, we are an arrogant bunch! Do you think there is a big difference between the quality of rugby player produced here and back home?
Also, what's your view on Deysel? I'm not saying he should be in the Springbok squad by any means but I was just wondering if anyone though he may get some Bok action this year?

We tend to produce better rugby players down south and that is evidenced in the domination of NZ and the Boks in the rankings.
I have always liked Deysel, the guy is pure power......however he lacks finesse to take him to that next level. Much like Alberts I guess, but Alberts has found favour in the test arena. I dont think Deysel will get a look in unless Alberts gets injured.......the likes of Coetzee and Arno Botha are ahead of him in the pecking order. There also younger options like Elstadt, Philip v/d Walt and Jacques du Plessis (better suited to lock).
Great test loosies have to have power, brains and skill.........thats what makes Read so good

M any of the best players in their league are from the Southern Hemisphere, this should not be discounted.
Plus Sarries/ aka Saffas had loads of SA players that were average in SA at best.
If it was only Northern Hemis phere players in their teams they would get their asses handed to them.

And saffex, I agree with your view on Deysel, you can't fault the guy physically - he's a machine but I am all for the young guys getting a look in.
It will be interesting to see which youngsters can make a starting place their own for the Springboks this year.
Hopefully our success in the 7's against the AB's will stay with us in the 15's

That's a point Sharkbok, I can't help but think that having so many different internationals and less youngsters given a go is harming some of the NH nations though

Yeah there is nowhere to go for English kids......once you finish with U20 level you are hung out to dry in favour of washed up foreigners.......makes no sense at all.
Saw a stat on the weekend where they said that of the 28 starting props in French club rugby, only 8 are French

Agpleez, Jean Deysel is one of the best ball carriers in the country and I can't think of any other SA rugby player who beats the first tackle as consistently as Deysel does.
Not sure if I'd pick him ahead of Willem Alberts for the Boks but I certainly wouldn't complain if he was picked for the Boks.

diesel powered jean has all the traits of the saffa rugby stereotype, a tough mean bastard who likes the physical stuff.
i remember a CC game between the stormers and sharks where candian jeb sinclair gave someone a nice punch and knocked him on his butt, can anyone tell me if that sharks player was deysel???
