Nope sadly JJ has yet to make it....but all of  Jordaan, de Jongh and Ashley Cooper have picked up the award playing against this chappie. And honestly Sadie was a strong bubbling under candidate a week ago as well. A soft touch?

All Daves posts regarding JJ only serve to try convince himself that JJ is good as even he can not seriously be convinced.
We have seen so many posts regarding JJ for nearly 12 months now. Question is, why does Dave just not engage in the JJ talk and keep his beliefs to himself. Is he trying to convince us or convince himself because if it's us he is trying to convince, that is not happening.
Sorry Dave. Like most everything else rugby related, you stand alone!

I do not like JJ at 13 -  I do not think he brings enough to the game to justify selection in that position.
We know your repeated statements on the issue and your main aim is to taunt Saffex in the process and see his furious expected response.  That is interesting - but does not produce any positive outcomes in the end.
The real issue of importance is who do you see as the better center combination for the Springboks and the motivation both in respect of attack and defense to support your selections in that regard.
My own selection will be De Villiers at 12 and De Allende at 13 - so what is yours?

 Seriously now...we are talking Bok 13 are we not?...so what's the palooka JJ done to deserve selection, just one damn thing will do. Throw that other pretender, Jantjies, in  the mix and we'll have the funny version of a Bok backline. Not only will the oppostion kick our funny asses, they'll be laughing away doing so.

Stats don't lie, they show that on average De Jongh is going to do more on attack then JJ, but defensively JJ is much more sound. This by no means, should be taken as a basis for Bok selection, just stats based on this years super rugby competition.

I do not believe both Engelbrecht and De Jongh for different reasons:-
*   JJ is not suitable from an attack perspective - his running lines are wrong (directly at the first defender)  and does not aim at creating of space for himself or any player near to him.   In other words a deficient attacking player.
*   De Jongh is a serious defense liability and is easily beaten by attacking players - theye ither runs over him r through him.  In the last two tests he played in (in 2012) he went AWOL in both attack and defense - so maybe looking good on Super 15 level from an attacking perspective - but test rugby is way above his level of competence.
The question remains - who should it be to be played at 13?

 Mike, so you want great pace, great feet, great centres brain and solid defence?? The best we have in that mould is Paul Jordaan bro..He is worth a shot in my opinion..Wont be worse than JJ..Thats for sure!

I have been a supporter of Jordaan over the pasty two years.  He was the best defending center last year and also this year in the whole of Super 15.  He had minimal chances in attacking play - he played outside of Steyn and that is an absolute killer of attacking play play of players outside of him.  Jordaan did very well with the minimal balls he got this year - so I would have no problems with him being selected.
I had a quick look at the profiles of O'Driscoll, Jordaan and De Jongh respectively - a;; three being regarded as smallish players:-
O'Driscoll  =  178 cm                    93 kgs
Jordaan  =   180 cm                   91 kgs
De Jongh =   175 cm                    85 kgs
Speedwise Jordaan is definitely speedier than O'Driscoll and De Jongh and he also is a much cleverer player.   I have regarded as the top outside center for years up to about 2 years ago when his age really started to count against him.
The moral of the story is that an outside center needs not be a "baby elephant" to play top class rugby.
I think outside of players like De Villiers an De Allende he would do exceptionally well - so i will be able to live with that one.

Well at least JJ can tackle unlike de Jongh who proves week after week that he is a liability in defence.

JJ skinned him with ease within the first 3 min of the game on Sat

As for team of the week......that's hardly going to happen to a centre playing in a Bulls gameplan now is it?

Its called perspective - given the attacking game the Cheethas employ, you would think Sadie would have made the team by now.

Imagine if Serfontein and JJ played for the Cheetahs

Saffex
If they know what is good for their careers - both Serfioontein and Engelbrecht should le ave for the Cheetahs - they are being killed by the Bulls.   I think a backline with Serfontein at 12, Sadie at 13, Engelbrecht at 14, Rhule at 11 and  with Le Roux at 15 would really show up well in Super 15 and score oodles of tries.

 You guys are deluded. JJ is a terrible defender, he never makes a clean tackle....a tackle is not a commodity, it varies.  JJs tackles are the worst.
De Allende is still very suspect on the "agility" tackles a centre has to make....he looks to be easily beaten laterally
And Jordaan is a small guy...hardly suitable at 9 canyou imagine him defending Basteraud? De Jongh who is technically a better tackler faces the same issue.
All these guys will be exposed in  the kind of tough test we are likely to face in the RWC playoff stages. You need powerful agile players. Serfontein would probably be ok but not great at 12, but Jean plays much better at 12 vs 13.
That's our dilemma, no use in sugar coating it....we are still looking for a solution.

Onto your unsubstantiated bullshit stories again.  And Basteraud on the brain disease as well.  But then why discuss rugby topics with a rugby illiterate?  De Jongh is NOT a bet ter tackler than Jotdaan - he is shit tackler - go and look at his stats for that.

Mozart deals with a few issues above and I will be civil this time:=
He tackle issues and especially also the quality of tackles   What types of Missed tak;es occur kind of missed tackles are there:-
*  The first one is where there is technically a speed problem on the part oif the defender and he is too slow to prevent players running around them,  mostly on their outside.  The worst offenders here are Francous Steyn, Jacque Fourie and Juam de Jongh
*  The Alberts Treeby tackle - the worst kind of tackle attempt there is. When a player is trying to tackle a player and ended up on his backside.  The inventor name says it all/ up.
*  The third category is where a tackler is pushed off and is unsuccessful in his attempt;
*   The next category is where players use thee wrong technique and miss tackles.
*    The last category is where you are penalized for unlawful methods.
As t the quality of tackles - there are various categories as well:-
*   The worst is the jersey grabbing tackle attempts - sometimes suffessful but totally ineffective.
*   Where a player grabs the legs of a player and the player remain standing upright able to pass the ball at will - Juan de Jongh special - this one.
*  Where a tackled player goes down - but is able to off-load the ball in a tackle situation;
*   normal good tackles - where the tackled player cannot release the ball;
*   a hard tackle where the takled player lose possession of the ball.
Al players have off days when their tackles are below their normal standards and all tacklers have various categories of tackles and there is not one that can be said of as not making mistakes in tackles.   I mentioned some names - but those are habitual offenders r inventors of the name of the category.
