JJ back in the Mix

Thank you - Thank you - Thank you.   This takes useless De Jongh out of contention - even him on the bench would be the worst nightmare imaginable - despite what Mozart thinks about that one . 

 and what's JJ done of note thus far....pray please tell?

 Pr obably for the best as it means one less disruption. Meyer needs to use his bench carefully and not keep players on who may be tiring.

Well it keeps Jean at 12, which is useful. And Oom is deliriously happy because de Jongh is on the bench, which is good for his dog. 

Denny that will be 4 tries in 8 tests........a 50% strike rate and a player who has scored more tries, run more metre s, made more clean breaks, set up more tries than Jean this year.......you getting the picture?

 Found it and read all of the blog.....I think this line in one of yours puts things into perspective....

 

"Stats are useful, but they only account for about 20% of the real picture"     personally I hope he blossoms into a real rugby player, he's athletic and young enough.  

Yes its early days and he is new to centre............he has the material to produce the goods........his start has been good and he has shown touches of class at times.

I live and breathe the game and the attributes he brings to 13 have made me rethink the requirements of a 13. In the past I was happy with a physical 13 who had enough pace to keep the attacking momentum alive........but JJ's sheer pace and step have set a new benchmark for 13 in my books.

Defences are so structured and tight at test level these days where centres find most of their time operating in traffic, that when the opportunity presents itself and space is found, you need a 13 who is able to exploit space.......JJ always looks to attack space with pace and a step. We need him running off the creativity of his 12 and upping the pace of that initial creation and feeding his wings or fullback running a great line.

Its hard work for centres to make an impression at test level, they need every advantage they can get......JJ has that with his pace and great feet. He is also physical enough to hold his own in traffic, which is essential these days and why a good player like de Jongh will never survive at test level.
