On the weekend, the didn't get many/any chances but he showed a nice bit of acceleration between defenders and looked to offload. He didn't break an lines open but he's agile enough that he can aim for a defender, change direction at the last second into a gap and get over the advantage line. That's something Jessie and Am and never really been able to do consistently and it means something.

As I recall, he did lose the ball in contact once, perhaps twice, but he does have an air of pedigree about him when he has the ball in-hand.

He seems to have natural ideas on attack and doesn't overthink good decisions.

I do believe your call is still very early, too early, but he's showing some nice signs.

All I care about is that he keeps chipping away and improving. As long as he does that, there is still a chance I might buy a ticket for the hype train.

The problem is that JJ needs better coaching and especially better thinking ability in rugby. He together with the unthinking and slow Esterhuizen will never be a winning center combination. Erasmus would instruct him to go to the Rugby Development Center in Stelelnbosch where Ackerman will get hold of him and teach him how to play tthinking rugby..

Ackermann is with the Junior Boks as a consultant at the moment. I like his coaching and I hope he’s reached his full potential as a coach….

He did take the lions to 3 Super Rugby Finals, but he couldn’t manage to win any significant title’s.

That is why people saying that Dobson and Jake is bad coaches, are just Biased….

They have both won title’s and knows what it takes to win. Not saying Ackermann won’t win any title’s, but he still needs to break that barrier…..

Yeah Plum there is something about this lad that excites me. He came close to scoring a try after beating two defenders to get close to the line.

His weapon is that explosive pace off the mark, if he sniffs an opening he uses that pace to try exploit it.

There is plenty of rugby IQ there as well, he gets into good positions

He is definitely a Bok in the making - it’s not helping that he is playing in a misfiring Sharks side

Dave, I'm honest. So if I say I see a guy progressing that is what I mean. In none of my posts about him do I say he is not good enough or he will never live up to what you are expecting and certain off.

Let me dumb it down for you. You think he is God's gift. I reported honestly that in a particular game he showed some good signs.
