Dispelled Moz's take on the lad being a one dimensional runner........look and learn Moz, its about time you started watching the actual games - JJ was the Bulls best back by some distance. Great looking runner, with that break show casing speed, step and power
JJ in the 47th minute

That run of Engelbrecht was as I described it elsewhere beautiful to behold. I think he went up in my estimation as a player - but I am still not sure of him at 13 - to my mind he has much more ability as a wing. One thing that counted in his favour was that he stood out as a player in an otherwise pathetic back line display by the Bulls - he definitely was the only back line player on the side of the Bulls that could be considered for selection on higher level.
I thought the strategic play of Morne Steyn today was bad. He neutralizes the rest of the backline completely. I always said that he and Olivier combined negates any possible backline performances and that statement was confirmed again yesterday. He is a kicker - nothing else.
Nice run, but that's all. One swallow does not make a summer.

There is no presemt vacamcy for the number 13 position - but should one comes available as a result of injury - I would prefer Serfontein and Jordaan - despite their youth and relative inexpereience - to fill the void. I think you would probably not agree - since only Jordaan played in Super 15 and Serfontein not yet. However to my mind both has class and I personally - despite his better display yesterday - would put Engelbrecht below them
No that single run showed you up with your take on the lad, according to you, he runs straight into people. You say the same about Taute, again complete bullshit - watch and learn is all I have to say
Mike your take makes no sense at all. JJ has just displayed great attributes for a 13 and you want to keep him on the wing - do you know how stupid that sounds and what little sense that makes
Hell, why dont we pick Mapoe for 13 on that basis. He gained 54 m in 3 runs against these same Sharks, beating 2 defenders as well. That's better than JJs 9 runs for 74 metres. And unlike JJ, Mapoe made 10 out of 10 tackles.......yeah, Mapoe for Bok 13.
No we will stick with confirmation that JJ is not a one dimensional runner as you asserted he was. He sure proved you wrong today and that is all that counts. Thank you JJ is all I can say - you should start watching rugby for what its worth, an opportunity to embrace what is good in our players instead of the predictable negative crap you throw out week after week. For the record I rate Mapoe
Hell we have Steph du Toit playing a great game yesterday and trust you to come along and throw some negative slant at the lad when clearly everyone thought he had a good first outing, including Bob Skinstad.
Your take on our players is complete bullshit. Players like Kirchner, Mvovo, Taute, JJ, Whitehead, Jantjies, Greyling, Flip, Steph du Toit, Coetzee, CJ Stander and Josh Strauss are all far better than you make them out to be.
I have no problem with Taute at 15 and JJ on the wing. Steph needs lots of time. Coetzee is a terrific young player....we'll know more when he plays the ABs. The rest wont play any significant international rugby.
De Villiers played such a bad game today - I would replace him by a dozen youngsters. First on the list would be Jordaan and Serforntein - but there are at least ten other options.
Saffex - you cant be serious with piss-poor Greyling, Whitehead and Jantjies amongst the list mentioned by you.
Oh the good old yawn of Taute at 15 and JJ on the wing - talk about short sighted - lets keep the ineffective Jean at 13 and Morne at 10 and take on Oz and NZ - what a joke.
For the record in case you had missed it - Taute and JJ are playing their current rugby at 13 for a reason - they are good there. Why on earth would you want Taute at 15 when we have Lambie, why on earth would you want JJ on the wing when we have JP, Habana and Mvovo........how much more obvious should we make it.
Is Jean a longterm solution at 13? NO - do we need a new 13 - YES, so why on earth would anyone want Taute and JJ currently playing as 13's playing anywhere else - brain freeze gents, catch a wake up
Saffex
The only reason why I would suggest that Engelbrecht has a chance at wing is because in respect of wings there arre less competitiors for wing than for 13. There are in fact in years to come youngsters like Jordaan and Serfontein also in the mix - as well as Howard, and numerous others.
The same applies to 15 and Taute would be in a less competitiove environemtn there. Let me explain something else - the best try I can remember of Taute was in one game where he ran through the whole opposing team from his own 22 and scored under the post - cannot remember which game it was - but the commentators were raving about it.
I think Engelbrecht are Taute are top youngsters - but we cannot have them and all others mentioned competing for one position - we must spread our assests to cover all eventualities.
Well Mike my point is that Taute and JJ are the leading contenders for the 13 spot - they are certainly ahead of Jordaan and co......so if I selected Taute at 13, I'd be more than happy with JJ on the wing. But for now I want to see them both competing for the Bok 13 spot. Lambie walks the Bok 15 spot so why would I want to see Taute wasted at 15?
Saffex
You cannot have only one reliable player per position. If Lambie get injured - like he is at present - you immdeiatly ahve a repalcement problem. I like Taute as a player - but why should he be at 13 - when we have a relaible player - with better potential than Taute - already playing Super 15 - ie Jordaan. Also Serforntein I believe will be outstanding in that position.
You say - forget about Jordaan and others - but why should I? I think that potentially Jordaan and Serfontein - a real star if ever there was such a youngster - have a better "rugby brain" than Taute. In any event - what are we argueing about? meyer has appointed De Villiers as captain till the end of this year and if there is a vacancy in future - then we can discuss it.
Well I disagree, Taute is our best prospect at 13, followed by JJ. I am not convinced Jordaan is physical enough for a test 13, he is probably better suited to wing.
Serfontein still has to play S15 rugby, until then we cant really tell and chances are he will play 12 for the Bulls given Olivier is leaving.
And yes you cant have one player per position, but that does not stop you selecting the best possible side and the best possible side would have Lambie at 15, Taute at 13. If Lambie got injured then there is always the option of moving Taute to 15 and playing JJ at 13
