...to use a little Cape language. But what does he know? I fear in his heart of hearts he knows the streak of luck he has been riding is over. Fury will be back and normally that would be depressing news. But the gaping hole we have at 13 has to be plugged.

Ah yeah gaping hole.......that would be the one you thought existed until JJ silenced you in the Kiwi test.........evidenced by how much air time you are giving JJ.........Moz stop smarting man.

JJ is the incumbent 13 and he confirmed that more than ever against NZ, not that he ever had to........hell before that test it was 4 tries in 8 tests......a 50% strike rate.

Fourie is there to impart knowledge and provide back-up to our incumbent JJ..........at least we now have a real back-up unlike the sad excuse de Jongh we have had to endure over the past few seasons.

de Jongh was given a chance last year only the be kicked into touch by the impressive JJ this year. de Jongh has not had a sniff as JJ has been far too good and now finds himself in the test wilderness thanks to the return of Fourie.

Meyer has improved things at 13 despite bringing back an old fart. Its not the selection I would have made, but it beats the hell out of wee de Jongh who is not a test 13's backside

Crap JJ is now a 13 and that is where we need him. He has been good this year and was great in the last test against NZ.

This bullshit about his defence is just that - complete bullshit - look no further than his defensive stats against NZ, the best side in the world. In the first test against NZ he made 9 tackles and missed 0, in the second test he made 3 and missed 1.........in the same test Jean missed 2.

There is stuff all wrong with JJ's defence

JJ is the best prospect we have had at 13 since Danie Gerber, why the fuck would we want to waste him on the wing - what a stupid decision that would be. As for moving him to 15, well that is just plain rugby ignorance

 Mozart

This discussion was under another thread as well.  As per normal you got stumped and now opens  a new thread on the issue - trying to what was written about Engelbrecht - and your hero Morne Steyn.    Why not respond to that one also?

OK - now we are back solely to JJ - the points I raised all along remains - no double talk and no fabrication.

I do believe that there are deficiencies in Engelbrecht's performance.   However, I have some doubts as to whether Fourie is the answer.  There has been the case where Fourie du Preez with as huge a reputation as Fourie, came back from Japan - played superbly when he came from the bench in one game for 15 minutes and everyone was agog about his return.

Then a few weeks later he came back from Japan and he did not really shine in the first test an ran out of steam in the next one.   That was not a vey promising return to test rugby and it showed that players seemingly gets slack in a more relaxed Japanese competition environment.

This is not the only questionable case.   The great George Smith came back to play a few games for the Brumbies and the Wallabies.   He would b e very good in one game and out of sight in the next one - with injury absences in between. He was not as good a player as he used to be and against the Lions he really was nondescript.

That brings me to the point.   Will Fourie be  performing well enough to justify his selection for the Springboks or will he be bog ordinary and jo-joing insofar as actual performances are concerned?  Nobody knows whether he will be an answer to Mozart's daily prayers to find a replacement for Engelbrecht.

If he is selected you can expect one certainty - even if he buggers up, there will be a praise song like its unbelievable forthcoming from Mozart.

As a Bulls supporter it hurts to say this. JJ has  been disappointing in second half of the  RC. His defence  has become poor. His tackling technique is just not good enough and his defensive lines are worse.

You are big on stats, explain JJ's defensive record against NZ based on the stats stupid prick and hey make sure you dont resort to bullshit and while you are at it talk as through JJ non contribution with ball in hand in that last test against NZ.

Talk us through his beating of Savea, his beating of Cruden and his beating of Conrad Smith.

You are just another ignorant prick, but be a sport and counter my challenges

Credit where its due..JJ did silence me in his last game against the AB's..I mean, I was in chipper spirits after Jean's try and JJ's fuck up of a tackle (for lack of better words) on Barrett really silenced me. I was deflated, disappointed, angry, let down but most of all, kinda expectant of that from him..

When I saw the replay I was really silenced...No words for that shit!

To Dave's mind, JJ had a great test and won us the game but in reality, it was the exact opposite.

Welcome back Fourie...Hopefully next year we identify a real option at 13 in Super rugby..Look past JJ..When he learns to tackle low and make his one on ones, he can come into contention again..Even then, he has no real spark other than pace..Best suited to wing where he can use his pace to finish..He is not a creator!

Look let's just get a few facts straight...JJ is going to be 25 in a few months. In rugby terms he is mid career......not young.

In terms of attack Dave is hanging his hat on one  incident in 5 tests. The time he stepped Savea. In fact his record in terms of defenders beaten over those tests is 1, 0,0,0,4. And the four came, in part, at the expense  of the halftime AB try. He has been all but sterile all RC, and was outplayed by de Jongh and Sadie in recent matches.

In terms of defence the RC stats look okay....but only because of two things. He never, ever defends aggressively....ie tries to make a tackle deep behind the advantage line. Secondly he always gets help. So he tackles high in a flurry of arm waving and jersey grabbing. And about 5 metres later a second tackler flattens the man while JJ is still clinging to him.

But most importantly, this guy is not a competitor like Jean or Conrad Smith or any of the better centres. He doesn't take responsibility for results...just goes through the process. He is a process player, with little heart. Give me a team of competitors, guys like Aplon, any day.

No, no Moz, JJ kicked arse in that test and put to bed those question marks you had against him.......we knew JJ had pace, but you wanted him to beat a defender on the outside, he delivered.

JJ is 24 and has only played centre for 2 seasons, therefore bringing in his age has nothing to do with it.

He got no help in the 12 tackles he made against the AB's its simple another load of nonsense regarding his defence. His defensive stats against the best side in the game are better than Jean's.

JJ showed in that test that he can rip the best side apart with ball in hand, that is all we ask of our Bok 13.......imagine Fourie pulling off the Savea beat.......its just never going to happen.

Mozart

I do not know about what is worse - a process player - as you call them, or a physically limited player?   The process player will let through less than the physically limited player.   Both are weak in defence because the one use the wrong technique and are weak in execution - the other tries the right technique -  but is physically not strong enough not to be run over by stronger players or fast enough to be run around by faster players.

Although you may prefer what you call competitors - I prefer neither of the two categories on test level.   I think both have serious negatives and - since they normally also have limitations on attack against good defence - the selection of either of the two categories of players are extremely questionable and the search should always be on for better players not subject to the limitations mentioned herein .

What I do not understand is your preference for some process players like Morne Steyn for instance  and your dislike of others - as well as your total inability to distinguish the players with physical limitations and their effects on games.

Yes JJ has the ability on attack, he does make things happen, he has a sharp step and a lot of pace. He lacks though in decision making and in defence. Those tackle stats are not in context. He always gives up metres and has poor technique.

Name a tackle against NZ where he gave up space, you are speaking shit

Yeah running the ball from your own 22 and getting yourself isolated just before halftime is a fantastic decision, not kicking the ball out in another instance. Look jj is my current pick for the 13 jumper but i am not blind to his faults. You dont have to watch his games closely to know he gives up metres more often than not

Mozart

Both are terms of expression coined by you to describe in essence players you do not like - I have never come across such descriptions by anyone else.   As I understand your discussion above you talk of process players and of competitors.   In the first category you list Engelbrecht - but leave out Morne Steyn - and in the second you name Aplon, but thank heavens did no t mention your other favourite De Jongh.

I merely reacted to what you were writing and since you mentioned Aplon - look at his negatives - namely physical ability, especially in defence - since their competitiveness are serious limited by the said liability.   That is the same limitation you find with other players like De Jongh and even a player like the stronger but very slow Alberts.

Ha ha Dave you really are a laugh. I never said I had "boy band good looks!" You are the one that tells us of your stunning features.

I never said I had a hot chick. You assumed I would not have a hot chick because I was "thick and ugly!"

Dave, let me teach you a lesson here. If you are going to "slip one through" or try and blatantly lie, please make sure you dont provide contradicting evidence. I thought as a lawyer you would know this!

How can you say you are good looking and then post a picture of your mug staring straight at us whilst you squat on the shitter outside your home. I mean, we have Becs saying what a stunner you are and using Rooipoes' wife as back up but there is only 1 problem with that...WE CAN ALL SEE YOU!! Your mug is there for us all to see so I really have to question Becs and Rooineks mrs judgement and have to make the conclusion that they too dont amount to much if they are swooning over that! Very low standards or they just know their limits!

Dave, I am happy to settle this whose hot and whose not debate you love to have. I am a proof kinda guy but let me warn you brother, you are gona lose. Very badly too...I am no Becs that talks or implies..Im a proof man! With regards to the "hotbird" comment..Show me yours and I will show you mine..Once again Dave, you will lose! There is actually nothing you will beat me at..That much is clear and I can say that with confidence!

@Beeno..How is JJ getting better every game.. From his 1st to his last game, he has created fuck all, he has made the same errors on defence that he made in his first game..He will always look good against Italy and Samoa..Its not them that we need to prove anything to.

All the pace in the world and nothing else. CC is 100% right, nothing more than a club winger at the moment. He has no vision or flair. Should we all pitch in for apicnic and celebrate a 38-27 loss because JJ ran around Savea? Fourie is a must until we identify a real option at 13. Hopefully a sound defencemen with some sort of vision and skill on attack. He can run like the wind but the lights upstairs are dim..Do we really want Forrest Gump at 13 for the Boks?

Dave, I would rather have Pat Howard than Howard Mnisi or Elton Jantjies who have been "ear marked" by you amongst a whole bunch of other non-entities.. Didnt you rip into CC for picking Marnitz Boshoff and Volmink for potential Boks and like 2 days later you pick the same 2 players in an emerging Bok young side? I dont think you know what you want Dave but I will tell you what you gona get..A hiding to remember slob!

PS..Hakwa has to be joking. What would they want with JJ? They gona select him then "teach" him to play proper rugby. Surely if he was the finished product he would not have to be taught anything.

AB's have better centres than JJ that wont make it past Super rugby level. Some names that come to mind and my favourite first, Tim Bateman..Skill, vision, defence..He would walk any Bok team I will tell you that. Andy Horrell, Buckman from Hawkes Bay is playing great rugby this year, Fruean, Ray Lee-Lo...All these guys are more solid players than JJ and they cant get a look in right now. Now you want them to have to teach a guy to tackle and try instill some vision in him? You fucked in the nut fat man!

We have more players than NZL, no doubt but our players are nowhere near as skillful. Thats a fact. We just need to play to our strengths which is arm wrestling opposition and making them play at our pace. Hopefully we will see more of the same with a bit of an idea on attack when we do go wide just like 2007 when Eddie whipped us into shape!

If we are going to play "Ellis Park 2013" rugby every game against the AB's, we are going to lose everytime unles our forwards start playing like the AB's and thats not ingrained in them. They are fitter, more mobile and more skillful. We made 14 line breaks at Ellis Park for 4 tries. They made 9 for 5 tries. Thats 29% vs 56% finished off. Not good enough. With all this running space, where was our strike force in JJ?

Bogtwat you have to be one stupid fuck if JJ's display with ball in hand in his last test made no impression on you.........shit for a moment there I forgot you are actually a stupid fuck.

I can see exactly why Hawk would like JJ as an an AB, given JJ completely outplayed Smith in that last test and Smith is now an old man at 32 and the AB's have no 13's coming through.

JJ and Davies are the best young test 13's out there, Davies has far more caps, but JJ has more potential

Yeah he completed outplayed Smith:

13. JJ Engelbrecht – 6
Had a very good first 30 minutes but fell off the pace in the second half and slipped the tackle on Beauden Barrett when he scored the All Blacks' fourth try.

13-Conrad Smith - 8/10

In a loose game with space everywhere, it is remarkable this man didn't miss a tackle. Saved several line-break opportunities and made the smart choices always when the pressure went on.

Oh boy Moz, its not pretty.......yeah I can see just how much better Smith was than JJ in that last test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can see why JJ has you smarting. Here are the stats for that test.....it was rookie against the perceived best 13 in the game:

Passes made: JJ 5 - Smith 10
Runs: JJ 10 - Smith 7
Metres run: JJ 96 m - Smith 27 m
Clean breaks made: JJ 1 - Smith 0
Defenders beaten: JJ 4 - Smith 1
Off loads made: JJ 1 - Smith 1
Tackles made: JJ 3 - Smith 10
Tackles missed: JJ 1 - Smith 2

Game set and match as they say......it was a one sided affair, Smith never came close - FACT. The idiot that came up with those ratings is an insult to rugby

This Saffex oke is really to dumb to argue with..Saffex, you fucken prick, listen up good now..The way you are talking of JJ in this test would make any reader think the Boks actually won the game and won well. For all of JJ's 97m run, how many tries came from that? Did it ever occur to you that Smith saw much less attacking ball. Can Smith be blamed that the AB's kicked 25 times and the Boks only 10 in the match. The Boks attacked with more ball in hand therefore JJ had many more opportunities with clean ball.

Just 1 question..Are you trying to say JJ is more valuable than Smith?? You really need to think about this one now Dave.

A big reason most these breaks were not converted into points is Smith's ability to scramble on defence. Hell, JJ misses 1 on 1 tackles never mind if asked to scramble.

1 of JJ's runs probably bought him 40m's so dont read too much into that. JJ did not outplay Smith..The opportunities they had were different but believe me, Smith was more valuable to his team on the day than JJ was.

Can you not comprehend that players must be rated for the situation, not against each other. Not the same situations! Smith wont miss Barrett!

Fuck me......Smith wont miss Barrett, but hey ho he missed JJ instead........how fucking stupid are you......let me guess, you reckon Smith chooses which tackles to miss.......so when he missed the two tackles in that test, he was being selective............man, oh man its like talking rugby with a 3 year old........hellooooooooooo, that lift does not go to the top does it?

Smith was more valuable to his team on the day was he.......would that be the 27 m he ran, the 2 tackles he missed, the zero defenders he beat..............wow, talk about a plank.

I'm going to take great pleasure in giving you a hiding, your stupidity irritates the shit out of me. Make sure you fucking make contact with me you wanker when you arrive in mighty England!!!
