TEAMtalk Media, publishers of the websitesplanetrugby.com and SARugby.com, amongst others, are looking for a Junior Rugby Writer to add to a vibrant Editorial Department.
LOCATION: TEAMtalk media OFFICES – CAPE TOWN
The candidate’s key responsibilities would include the following:
· Generating accurate sports content in accordance with TEAMtalk editorial guidelines
· Subbing and publishing copy from external sources
· Conducting and writing up telephonic interviews with sports personalities
· Day-to-day maintenance of a Planetrugby.com and SARugby.com (duty editor role)
· Doing minute-by-minute text commentary for live events (accuracy very important)
· Performing any other editorial tasks as may be assigned by TEAMtalk Rugby Editor
The following are the key requirements for the job:
· A tertiary qualification – Diploma in Journalism or related field
· Impeccable knowledge of southern hemisphere rugby competitions, teams and players
· Excellent knowledge and interest in northern hemisphere rugby competitions.
· Rugby playing experience would be an advantage
· Knowledge of French or Italian would be an advantage.
· A sound knowledge of the digital publishing industry and digital newsroom environment
· Photo editing skills
· A basic understanding of Content Management Systems
· Excellent command of the English Language – written and spoken
· Computer literacy
· Candidate must thrive under pressure
· A good team player
Candidates must be prepared to work on weekends and evenings as dictated by sporting fixtures.
