Cape Town - Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers has approached the South African Rugby Union (SARU) about possible work.
De Villiers, who coached the Springboks from 2008-2011, spoke to Eyewitness News Sport about the issue.
De Villiers told them he approached SARU over a possible role of working with club coaches.
EWN Sport posted on their twitter page that De Villiers had received no response from SARU about the matter by Tuesday.
"#Boks Peter de Villiers says that he hasn't heard back from #SARU yet over his proposal of working with club coaches," EWN Sport tweeted.
De Villiers believes he gained valuable experience during his tenure at the Boks, which could be useful for the game in South Africa.
"I feel a bit useless at the moment. Sitting back home and nobody shows interest in trying to draw from experience that I do have," said De Villiers.

Pieter I reall ydo have sympathy for your jobless state as I would not wish tha ton anyone.

However it does beg the question. Here we have Jake, who ou pdv replaced, being considered as a possible England coach and then actually landing the Brumbies job.

Ou pdv should work with the club coaches they would teach him a lot I am sure!

Simple as this, PDV was a crap coach and that is why nobody wants him. End of story, case closed. Next article.

Sadly Pieter was or is a victim of his own circumstances.  He was so eager and willing to get onto his seat in the gravy train that he never gave a thought to the future.  This is how the political game works, especially if you are a puppet who can and probably will be discarded once your purpose had been solved.

Who can still remember the racist words spoken by Oregan Hoskins after the appointment of PdeV?

Now, he is like an empty beer bottle, the contents served a purpose and the bottle is thrown away.  In a sense I feel no pity because he the “God given talent” was aware that he was being used to satisfy a political agenda.  What will he really do without the knowledge and skills of those senior players who at times pulled the wagon?

Let him go train the Stormers and promote AC to the post Rassie vacated – maybe it will be an eye opener for him and his supporters.  Sorry Snorre, the bus is full!

All this may well be true but I hope he finds some work but not another gravy train appointment - something fitting to his merit. Nobody should be unemployed - unless they refuse to work etc.

Beeno, he does not deserve to be unemployed, I agree that sucks for anybody. But he does deserve to be employed at a level which befits his talent, and that level is currie cup at best, if not lower.

Agreed - something fitting to what he merits. Maybe school boy rugby?  Trust he hasn't squandered the good money he must have made while bok coach.

Please no talk of him coming to the Stormers. That is one nighmare too many - victor playing for the Boks again is the other

you lot are abit harsh on PDV - one wonders what might have happened if he had won the RWC! His resume is not bad - he won against the Lions, he won a Tri-Nations trophy, he beat the ABs for the first time in Duneidin! I for one wish him all the very best in his future!

hakwa the counter to that is that the Boks won dispite him. The senior players ran the ship - an unhealthyarrangement .

Ou pdv had rich talent available to him and they never reached their potential. If you have heard him speak its pretty mindless stuff and was seriously embarrassing for Bok rugby.

I wish him well too but not at the Stormers please!!!!!
