Johan Goosen's 2013 year end tour is over.

 Johan Goosen's hopes of going on the Springboks' end-of-year tour have been dashed.

Volksblad newspaper reports that the 21-year-old flyhalf has undergone surgery to remove an inflamed appendix.

This comes just a day after the Bok management had expressed hope that Goosen would recover in time, after damaging his knee in a freak training ground accident on the Australasian leg of the Cheetahs' Super Rugby tour.

Springbok team doctor Craig Roberts had hoped that Goosen would get some game time in the Currie Cup, so he could be considered for the end-of-year tour.

However, the latest setback means Goosen won't feature on the playing field till next year.

Hopefully 2014 is a better year for him.

It seems he may have started the 2013 season still injured from 2012.

In the overseas tour when playing against Australia he bruised his heal and could not do the goal kicking. 

Then in 2013 he had the freak injury when practising goal kicking. Seems like it was more than just ia brused heal in 2012.

Sorry to hear that - but he should be ok in 30 days time at the utmost - but then he will have no rugby before Super 15 next year.

 The kid needs to settle into his conditioning and get the right preperations for the riqours of rugby. He plays a very direct game which means that its already taking its toll. I don't want to the same fate happening to him that happened to Andrew Pretorius. 

In a way I'm glad, hopefully he will get time in the off season and come back strong next year.
