He created something out of nothing every time he touched the ball.

14. ANDREW TRIMBLE
Fantastic under the high ball and the most physical back I’ve ever seen.

13. JAQUE FOURIE
‘Mossie’ was big and strong, and an outstanding defender.

12. TANA UMAGA
Great skill and speed for such a big man. He was very intimidating.

11. JOE ROKOCOKO
In his prime, Joe was impossible to stop.

10. DAN CARTER
Dan has everything you want in a flyhalf, including an unbelievable rugby brain.

9. RUAN PIENAAR
Always provides great service and has a fantastic kicking game.

8. SERGIO PARISSE
Sergio has a great rugby brain and skills. He can be physical, but also plays with finesse and flair.

7. JUAN SMITH
Juan was massively physical, a great lineout exponent and ball-carrier. He gave everything he had

6. JERRY COLLINS
The toughest guy I’ve ever played against.

5. PAUL O’CONNELL
Paul always had an unbelievable work rate in the loose and was a great leader for club and country. 

4. BAKKIES BOTHA
Physical, physical, physical. Bakkies was passionate about the game and it showed on the field. Our opponents feared him.

3. BJ BOTHA
Scrumming behind him for 11 years, I saw first-hand his incredible scrummaging technique and how powerful he was.

2. JOHN SMIT (c)
A phenomenal leader. Smitty was brilliant at scrum time and lineout throwing.

1. MARCOS AYERZA
The strongest scrummager I played against. He knows only one way, and that’s forward with force.

There is a lot wrong with this team. The first thing that stood out to me is that both flanks were blind side flanks. You cannot tell me that there is or ever was anyone better at the breakdown than Richard McCaw.

Chris Latham? Wow!!! I'm starting to understand why Johann Muller never featured much as a Springbok. Christian Cullen is without a doubt a better option at fullback. So is Percy Montgommery.

Jaque Fourie??? Boy oh boy!! Lol. Of all the greats out there he picks Jaque Fourie. How about Brian O'Driscoll, Sterling Morlock or even Danie Gerber?

It gets even worse. Ruan Pienaar??? This man cannot be serious. Joost Van Der Westhuisen, Fourie Du Preez or even the best scrummie currently playing Aaron Smith are much better choices.

What a lot of nonsense.

As much as I loved Cullen Latham was absolutely the best between the two. The man was lethal! Back when the Awezziez could actually win the odd Alp Black test. Buy Dagg is the best overall. Massive boot from 22 to 22 accurely and unbeatable under the high ball. Operates like a second 10. No weaknesses in his game at all! 

Fourier was a great finished and great defender but like Jean also when did you ever see him pass the ball? I actually liked Umaga on the wing more. 13 is between Mortlock, O'Driscoll, Little and Smith. Smith was part of the best and most successful centre pairing in history so I go with him. 

12 is a bit hard but I think I'd put Bunce ahead of Nonu. Can't think of anyone anywhere near these two.

11 is all about Habana for me. I love Lomu he was a revelation and nobody could play like him not even now but Habana is the complete package. Really smart guy too.

10 is easy. Dan Carter. Best ever. Larkham is an honorable memtion .

9. Pienaar? I can't remember any great service may be wrong on that one? But Due Preez is definitely the best South African 9 by a really really long way. Justin Marshall and George Gregan are others as well as Jooost. Hard call but Due Preez and Marshall are the more complete of the bunch. I'll give Due Preez the kicking edge and Marshall the passing edge.

8. Didn't Muller play Dallaglio? I'm sure he must have. Not sure what All Blacks he faced either. I'll go Read as the McCaw of No.8

7.McCaw easily. Best leader of all time. His movement around the field was so efficient he was always in the right place at the right times. Nearly to the level of being psychic. He wasn't fast buy he negated faster players this way. Great passing and defending too. Breakdown king.

6.Schalk Burger. I miss watching him play. He really rounded out his game after the raw early years. A real hard man.

5. O'Connell??? Really??? Wow. I think this guy is way overrated. Mayfield, Dan Vickerman, John Eales. I'd go for Nobody, because Nobody's perfect

4. Can't decide this one.

3, 2 and 1. The All black front row of 1996. Keith Woods get a mention.

You can't leave Os Du Rant out. I rate him as probably the best loosehead of all time.

Comparing the fairly good Marshall to Joost and Fourie Du Preez is crazy. He's not in the same league as either of them. Personally, Joost tops them all.

Dan Carter is a no brainer. Brilliant rugby player.

I forgot about Os pretty respected guy the world over. But he didn't get the better of Olo Brown. There are so many great looseheads to choose from. Castrogiovani and Tony Woodcock are other names too. Argentina and Italy have endless supplies of props! 

Mate Marshall was a damn good scrummie! Those battles with Joost were epic. Was technically better than Joosrt but both explosive performers. Joist was not a great technical player but was tough and competitive and had that confidence to turn 50/50 situations in his favour. Due Preez is technically faultless in his prime and still pretty tough. Back in the day even the dark days fifteen or so years ago South Africa had so many quality scrummies it was ridiculous. Hardly any now. Is super rugby creating a new breed of flawed athletes at 9 across the board? Can't I!agine today's 9s would hold their own against the old boys in their era. But they are fitter though so there is that in their favour.

My bad I was thinking of Lo Cicero. Dont know why I though Castro, guess I'm not that great with names. As a unit I still go with Woodcock, Fitzpatrick, Brown. That would be pretty scary!

An all time bok front would might be something like Os, Smit, visagie.

I am not all that interested in this thread - but I think Muller's choice is fklyghalf may have a lot to do with his Ulster Club mate Ruan Pienaar,    

I think that Joost must figure amongst that lot as well.   Definitely far better than Pienaar,
