JONES WANTS ENGLAND TO TAME SPRINGBOK BULLIES; Rugby 365

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: ENGLAND COACH EDDIE JONES HAS TOLD HIS STARS TO TAKE THE FIGHT TO SOUTH AFRICA'S BULLIES WHEN THEY CLASH AT TWICKENHAM.

The Springboks are renowned for their physical brand of rugby and have overpowered England during a 12-match unbeaten run stretching back a decade.

Jones believes it's vital for England not to be intimidated when they launch the first of four internationals at Twickenham on November 12.

"We'll certainly pick our strongest team to play South Africa and will then take it from there," Jones told BT Sport's Rugby Tonight.

"We haven't beaten South Africa since 2006. You know what they are like - they are just bullies, so there's a big task for the first 23."

It has been two years since the last meeting and this time the Springboks will be facing the Grand Slam champions and 3-0 conquers of Australia.

Jones' England have amassed a flawless nine consecutive victories in a stunning maiden season at the helm for the veteran Australian coach, who transformed the team from World Cup flops to a genuine force in the global game in eight months.

"I thought we'd win the Six Nations and without being arrogant, I think England should always win the Six Nations or be in contention to win it because you might have some bad luck along the way that stops you winning it," Jones said.

"Given the players and the resources we have, we should always be in a position to win it.

"I thought we could beat Australia 2-1, but I have to admit I was surprised how well we played in the third Test because we were tired and they had everything to play for.

"It was a real credit to our players, how they picked themselves up and got through that game and that's a great sign."

Jones believes that a factor in England's success has been the growing professionalism of the Premiership clubs.

"Having been in South Africa for a couple of weeks and seen how the Super Rugby sides operate there and having coached in Australia, you can see the clubs here are so professionally set up," he said.

"The quality and quantity of the coaching staff and facilities is outstanding and I believe that is starting to be replicated in the standard of play."

Well that's something for Bok fans to be proud of. However, IMO the Boks have not been the bullies boys of the past, not since head butting Bakkies left. Eben tries his intimidation techniques but even he has gone quiet lately. I wish the bully persona of the Boks would come back, it might signal the return of their mojo.

 I don't think they'll have much trouble with the Boks this time round.
Louw, Lood, Beast, Strauss, Mbonambi, Trevor, Mnisi, Whiteley, Elton, Paige, Morne and Habana are definitely not classified as "bullies" ... 
That's the problem with our team today ... we want to play as bullies but have no bullies to do the bullying.
I suspect we'll be coming away with beaut of a shiner.

This is where we are at the moment, we have a coach that only knows a defensive 10 man game plan that relies on an accurate goal kicker and dominant bruiser forwards. We don't have dominant bruiser forwards or an accurate goal kicker, but even if we did, it would come to nothing, because that game plan no longer works. As for our players, all we have is a bunch of slow obsolete has-beens, mixed with a new batch of more dynamic and mobile players, who are all rendered obsolete because we have a coach that knows nothing about dynamic running rugby. Throw some quota players in the mix and what do you get? A competitive loss against an almost equally inept Wallaby side, a cricket score loss against the NZ'ers, and total humiliation against the Poms at the end of the year. 
Time to start betting money against the Boks boys!

True Rooi...call me an optimist! 

 I have loved to watch the Boks whip the Poms and have been to each game bar the PE draw since 2006....... when we played them twice on successive w-ends, loosing the 1st but winning the second under White.I am not spending any of my cash going to watch our third rate team and 5th rate AA coach drag our rich rugby history through the mud.
We do not have a hope in hell of winning when only 3 or 4 merited players are selected. 
It hurts me deeply to say it but the Springbok is dead the only hope we have is to preserve its history by changing the n ame to the Proteas and putting the flower on their jerseys.     

 No not the Proteas but more suitable would be the "Goatees".

The current generation of players are average at best- with very few worth mention of making the top 5 slots in their position in world rugby. 
The coaches are worse. The coaches are useless and just try to put their head in the sand- and we have more quota players in the team than ever before. 
We can't pick combinations- because a spot has to be made for quotas.  Look no further than the Springbok back row- which is the worst at ball retention than any other team in the top 10 in the world. 

The logical thing was to pick Kriel at 6, Flow at 7, and Whitey at 8. This would have been a more balanced back row- that could at least compete at the ruck.
Our ball retention at the rucks is probably not even in the top 10 in the world. 
Lineouts and scrums only make up part of the game.

 Now let's see.....who are these players we aren't selecting who are going to change the Boks into All Black tormentors and Pom pulverizers.
1 Janse van Rensburg....yes a good player, but his defence isn't too swift.
2 Lambie.....hahaha.....I'm not going to bother defending this nonsense.
3 Kitshoff as a starter....perhaps a superior scrummager to the Beast, but it's not proven. What we do know is the Beast is more mobile. Nor is Kitshoff a step in the flavour of the day handling forward direction.

4 Stephanie as a starter. This was tried in the second and third Irish tests.....and frankly he was better as a sub playing a loosie/lock hybrid role.
5 Kriel for Louw, but Kriel was monstered by Savea in the Super final and for those who watch honestly, not much of a factor against the Bargies.

Now ask yourself, are those changes really going to change our fortunes?

 We could still pick a pack to beat up the poms but its not going to happen under the anc and Coetzee.

 I don't buy into the biased refs, but asseblief, no more French refs for us this year . Mediocre ..... bit Clousseauic .

 Peter Sellers would make a good ref in his alter ego ? I do so hope your boys kick some pommy butt this year ,they need putting in their place as too much of a win now and then makes them all lippy .
