This kid is pure class. Has the best swerve and step I have seen in ages. His partnership with the in form Whitehead could be mouth watering. Has plenty of pace and runs great angles. At 94kg's has muscled up to a respectable size. Will be a star for this years Baby Bok side.

They just need to work out his best position as he has played 10, 12, 13 and wing........10 is the least likely

Yes definitely an exciting prospect and the Sharks backline looking rather good on paper.

Has Riaan Viljoen been dropped. I see the pretty ineffectual Ludik is at 15. Man the guy has faded away at the sharks like so many others. He had better take his chance.

Yes Viljoen has been dropped as he has been bloody useless. To think some wanted him as their Bok 15.

Agreed Ludik has regressed since moving to the Sharks, playing him out of position on the wing has not helped his cause

Maybe - just maybe - itt has dawned on theSharks that they need a proper center - not a wing playing at 13.   The youngsters coming through are really exciting'.

Mike, there's never ever been anything wrong with the talent and the amount of talent coming through at the Sharks......what's missing is why that talent is not harnessed to produce positive results.

Yep Mike, not a peep from the Sappster about JP's return to the wing. But it's clear the Sharks have options and they wouldn't be doing this if JP was a success at 13.

Keo opines: "Pietersen has been ordinary as a midfielder and will benefit from a shift to his preferred position." And the Sharks defence might actually function, one might add.

Game over, case closed.

Moz, I liked JP at 13 so its sad to see him moved, but am more than happy to see Jordaan given a go there as this kid is a real talent

Little man?  You just don't seem too upset that your pick for the Bok 13 jersey is being shifted out, that's all fat man.

What is being overlooked is that the sharks are trying to optimise their resources.

JP had a successful stint at center . Personally I wonder why Jordaan who appears to have real pace is not on the wing. JP lacks a yard of pace for  a wing.

Plumtree so often gets these things wrong. Has he again?

Fresh coming from a clown who wants Jean at 13, failing that de Jongh or Ebersohn. I'll stick with my grasp on the requirements at centre. If you dont like the heat little man, don't start the fires - get it?

Saf, if Jean is fit, he will be in the starting 15 for the boks. Most probably at 13, as HM seems to still have faith in WO and is bringing Fransie into the fold. De Jongh will also be in the mix somewhere. You can bet your gerdenshed on it. Don't wager your house though, strange things have happened in rugby...

You are beyond grasping the obvious aren't you? Where did I say that defence in structured play was all that counts.

Let me paint some pictures for you - I said the measure of whether a centre is able to cope with his defensive role was whether he was able to contain his man in structured backline play - be it his opposite number or your wonderfully insightful take that introduces the fact that possibly its not always his opposite number that he will be marking - personel aside, I'm talking structured backline play.

The fact that said player misses tackles in broken play is not a good thing, but is NOT a measure of whether he will work out as a centre defensively. No doubt you wont grasp this at all.....but hey who cares.

JP was good at centre and the fact that Plumtree has moved him mean nothing, for Plumtree is an average coach who sees positives in the likes of Joubert, Adi and Bosman at centre

Right got it Dave - some tackles are more important than others - ignore missed tackles from phase play, only count those missed from 'structured back line play'.....a missed tackle's a missed tackle Dave any way you slice it or dice it, the fact that you find it more acceptable that JP could miss 5 tackles from broken play as long as makes a 1:1 in "structured back line" play speaks volumes about your criteria for a centre's defence...but let me ask you this, if there were no problems wth JP's centre play, including his defence, why is he now shifted to the wing with a relative youngster starting at 13?

Fuck me talk about brickwall!!! I did not say JP missing tackles in broken was a good thing did I????? I said his measure defensively as a centre was in structured play.

If missing tackles according to those stats was a measure then Conrad Smith should never play test rugby again get it, irrespective of whether he has established himself in tests as a centre or not. You want to denounce JP on the strength of those stats then in the name of consistency Smith needs to suffer the same fate.

Why is Jordaan playing 13 and JP playing on the wing. Simple, Jordaan has been a shining light at 13 in the last few weeks in the Vodacom and JP is historically a wing. Plum wants to accomadate both of them

And I'm trying to tell you a centre's defensive ability should primarily be measured on his ability to make a tackle....FULL STOP.

But if JP is going to be the next Bok centre, why replace him with a rookie?  We both know the answer Dave but I'll keep dangling you from a string for a bit longer.

Who said he was not going to be a Bok centre? Fuck you are stupid.......Lambie is playing 10 for the Sharks under Plum, does that mean Meyer wont select him at 15 for the Boks?

Let me break it down for you, if a provincial coach doesn't rate your boy JP at centre then he won't see much game time there for the rest of the season - so would HM select a specialist wing to play centre on the strength of half a super season at centre with some of the worst defensive stats going around?  Post angry Dave, makes you look 25% more of a mug.
