Even though he was very lucky not to be yellow carded....JP had a brilliant game. Looking for work, fearsome on the high balls and hard to bring down.

Bosman was also very effective....Fransie better, but erratic, Reinach solid  and Lambie guaranteed money.

In the pack this was one of Coetzee's better games....and Steph du Toit continues to get more impressive. The scrumming of Herbst is also to be commended.....once again the Sharks scrum was  better after Jannie went off.

On the negative side Jordaan was embarrassingly bad. Fruean who was held to 12 metres by de Jongh's positive tackling, gave poor Jordaan a lesson in centre play. Jordaan also lost balls and threw some poor passes.

The Saders did what they could, but the wave of Sharks energy in the second half was irresistable. I thought the Crusaders made a very poor decision letting Bleyendaal go for that second  penalty in the last 10 minutes. It was clearly going to be a stretching his range. A kick to the corner would have been far smarter

Agreed - terrible call going for poles at that point. Before lining up that kick Blyendall was only 4 for 7 and it was a monster kick. Gifted the Sharks possession.

Kudos to Steph du Toit and those on the board who saw this coming - he looks like he belongs. For a tall guy he was impressive on the ground - possible Bok "7" instead of Louw who is overseas?

No if we include overseas player who we must if they are good enough the loose tri is, Louw at 6 Vermuelen at 8 and Du toit at 7. Add in Bissie, beast and malherbe, Etzebeth and Bekker and you have by some way the finest pack in world rugby.  If you want to speed up the loose trio play Deon Fourie the best small flanker in world rugby bar none.

Moz your points are spot on bar perhaps being a bit harsh on Jordaan. Jordaan needs to study how De Jongh brings down big men. Jordaan is somehwere around 94 kg so is not too small to be an effective tackler if he improves skills wise.

The point I made to Oom Mike after last weekend, was the push nature of de Jongh's defence. He got up fast on Fruean before he could get into his stride. Then he went in low and scythed him down. Jordaan in the mistaken belief his pace allowed him to give Fruean the outside gap....mostly allowed him to build up speed. After which a guy with puny upper body strength like Jordaan was always going to struggle.

Mozart

Are you not more embarrased about the bullshit you wrote about Jordaan and Frueaen already?  You really reached the puits with your comments on him in that game.   I have elsewhere quoted the Foxsport stats on Jordaan and Fruean - but then you are so stupid that you cannot understand anything about a game and always base your assessment on 1 incident in a game.

I am waiting for the ESPN stats as well and then put it here on both games - showing what De Jong did against Fruean as well as the stats on Jordaan.   In the meantime please read what i said elsewhere about the issue.

However, I might as well save me the trouble to put these stats down.   After all you only believe stats if it serves to support your idiotc comments on players.

Strong terms - but in this case you are an embarrassment.

Oom Mike,  Fruean ran over Jordaan twice in open field play.....right through the outside gap. Once leading to a try....once a near try. If that had been Jantjies or de Jongh you would be jumping up and down in glee. Now you are merely lying....what  comedy routine.

Agreed Moz, it was good to see JP back to his best. Coetzee and Steph du Toit were huge. That Steph du Toit is going to make one hell of a lock combo with Eben.

That match proved that Jordaan is not up to playing 13 at this level. Fruean embarassed him today. As I have always suspected, he is just not physical enough for the role. He is a good attacking player who needs to devote his future to wing. 13 is defensively too demanding for him

Unfortunately with regard to Jordaan that's also my conclusion....even though I initially felt he could be an international centre.

While I wanted to buy into the fact that Jordaan was physical enough given some stats had him down as 94kg's, it is clear he is not that big.

While he has muscled up to around the 90kg mark, it not natural bulk and Fruean showed exactly why these little guys cant be considered at 13 at the highest level. Fruean slapped him out the way, with ease - it was man vs boy stuff.

Maybe its time for the Sharks to move JP to 13 and move Jordaan to the wing. Or better still bring in 19 year old Tyler Fisher who is in the Baby Bok squad and playing Vodacom Cup rugby for the Sharks. I hear the kid is a try machine, big, strong and fast.
