He did play for the WP today and even managed to score a try following up on a ball kicked into space by Elstadt of all people. At least that was a positive.
I was watching him playing today and I must say the display he put up was in fact dismal. From what I saw in the whole match his defenxe was a horror story. As far as i could see during the whole game he attempted to make six tackles. He completely missed three of those - made 2 - and the final one was dangerous tackle attempt for which he was penalised.
The last attempted tackle comprises a shoulder charge - no arms used - and the ball carrier swung out of it and continued with his move. De Jongh's second attempt resulted in a tackle- but the Griquas lost the ball in the resulting maul and after a kick downfield Kolbe within a minute scored a try - all for nothing and the players were called back and a penalty awatded against WP.
What was further bad was two blatant knock-ons by him so on balance he was not worth having in the team. That despite the try - since any backline player following up the kick would have scored it in any event.
This guy must have been borne under a lucky star - he remains in Meyer's squad - but if ever there was an iffy player - he is it.
