We were second best for much of the match but pulled ourselves together and should have won by a few more points.
As usual, it was the backs to the wall attitude that got us the win in the end.
I'm happy
20 Jun 2014, 13:36#3
Bit contradictory there "We were second best for much of the match" then say "should have won by a few more points" Becs....
20 Jun 2014, 13:39#4
Cloudy, I think Bryce Lawrence came out of retirement in a guest appearance which was nice to see. Or should I say Rawrence,,,,,,,!Either way, England well worth their win.
20 Jun 2014, 13:40#5
Not at all.
We were second best for most of the match but when we had opportunities, as we did, we should have finished more if them off so it was not a one point win.
That is why I say we should have won by a few more points.
Can that clarify things for you ?

England worthy winners in the end after SA's kicking game and lineout caused England probkems. Billy Burns missed a simple kick, SA score a try straight after then a nervy 10mins, England defended well.
Consolation Handre Pollard got voted Junior IRB player he reminds me alot of Owen Farrell.
Both strong, combative leaders with good game management

I have been busy and did not watch the match. Will have to watch a replay.Thank you Becs your honest approach is in stark contrast with the kbbs who are trying to score cheap points at our expense. Glad to hear Boks were on top for most of the game.
SA and England juniors well ahead of the chasing pack it would appear over the last three years.Kiwis struggling because forwards are too small and lack clout. Backs though remain good but defences are becoming more proficient in shutting them down whilst opposition backline perfomances are improving all the time and matching the kiwis.
Where to go for the wee abs is big question! Going RAW seems to be the only hope. Hahahahahahahahaha the EGG lands and it's pie for lunch!

Wonderful news re Pollard and well deserved. Here is a vital cog in future Bok glory.
Oh can anybody seriously doubt who will contest the next WC final. Its England and Boks with the Mighty Boks to win. Wee abs to be onlookers once more!
Any other suggestions? For funs sake!

Beeno: can you tell us about your experience with RAW egg & humble pie please. A review of recent evidence shows you have an amazing ability to combine all 3, congrats but please tell us how it feels - we have no idea

Hasbeeno, no good getting player of the tournament when you come 2nd. Bit like kissing your sister which no doubt you will be familiar with!
20 Jun 2014, 14:27#13
Nice to win back to back Championships though....and both away from home !
20 Jun 2014, 14:30#14
I am still waiting for our resident kiwis and other kiwi sympathisers to start bleating that England do not deserve their title because they had an easy road to the final and did not play the Baby Blacks............
20 Jun 2014, 14:46#15
I am sure that will come, Ceradyne
20 Jun 2014, 14:49#16
Beeno it was Under 20's playing, as you recall NZ in the real rugby where it really matters, has been kicking your butt and the world but for years now. Besides predicting a wc final a year out is riduclous, ab well win it anyway .

What a lot of unfortunate bleats from the kbbs spectators.
Thanks windpomp for the comment I was wondering when they would trot that one out.
Mooooo la I would far rather loose a final by 1 point having had the better of most of the game (Per Becs) and get the player of the tournament than watching the final from the stands in my home country. Bwahahahhahahahahaha.
Cloudy having not watched the game I cant comment on the ref. I trust it is not a nz ref though!!!
The point though is the junior rugby is ruled by England and SA. This is about to be translated into senior level - I mention this as 3 IQ is confused and rashly predicts that the wee abs will win WC!!! Please kbbs lets keep it real.

Correct Cloudy!!! It was indeed Brycy's fault. The Kbbs are learning!!!Who said we labour in vain!!!
20 Jun 2014, 15:10#19
It was a NZ Ref..........
Who knows who will win the RWC ? It is a long way away and anything can happen. I think it might be a WC too soon for my lot, but here's hoping we give good account of ourselves at any rate

20 Jun 2014, 15:22#22
This is stupid we all know NZ refs aren't the only bad refs, its just more convenient then looking at your own teams frailties. SA Refs are just as bad, or maybe worser, we know how bent your tmos are don't me but I degress

Cloudy I will retain an open mind of course.
Have been watching the last thiry minutes of the game. England not in the match. Pollard just missed drop - very close. How unlucky not to win this!!! No wonder Becs said we had the better for most of the game! Junior Bokls obvioulsy very fit as have do minated closing parts of their matches.
Kriel twins look useful for the future.

Bok try prevented by forward pass. Was fractionally forward - nz commentators say they have seen worse. Amazing how nz refs can actually spot a forward pass when they want to!! SA scrum dominating but ref says Boks scrum inwards - penalty to England.Crooked lineout throw by England but no problem. It was on halfway line so it was easy to see.
What a great last scrum by Boks.
Well done England and great effort Boks.Nz commentators say Boks dominated first 40. I saw them dominate last 30 so how the heck did England win!! Can somebody that understands rugby please explain. Amazing.

SA kept kicking the ball out of touch kept winning the lineouts in the 1st half especially first 20mins then England slowly came back into it started making phases then scored a try before H/T after an impressive break by Nick Tompkins
England rejuvenated, SA's kicking game wasn't as effective didnt find touch ball was in play England started building phases/pressure got a lineout 5 yards from try went for a lineout drive and scored on the back of it.
Billy Burns missed an easy kick to increase the gap by 4 points soon after SA scored a try which made the last 10-15 mins very tense. It was all SA then, England defending. In terms of the context of the game England deserved winners.
SA were dominant at the lineout your number 4 is a giant, England were dominant in the scrum. It was telling SA made lots of changes just after H/T big forwards jaded
20 Jun 2014, 15:54#26
Hearty congrats to England for a cracker of a match.
Back to back wins!!! Impressive.
Defensively solid and a well disciplined side.
We had a few opportunities to take a drop shot right in front of the posts and never bothered setting it up properly. The shot eventually came from an angle and sadly missed by a whisker.
Great competition ... thoroughly enjoyed it.
Hope to see many of these promising, talented lads go through and dazzle us at senior level.
20 Jun 2014, 15:55#27
A forward pass no matter how small, is still forward, Beeno ! That is where you in the SH seem to go wrong. You allow such things because the Try was exciting or some such nonsense. Forgetting that it would not have been scored if the Rules had been adhered to in the first place.Dearie me !
I will tell you how we won.....we came back at you. Scored some good Tries and defended like demons.
Simple.

I agreed it was forward - I noted how the nz ref etc can actually spot a forward when they want to. I have no complaint about it being called forward as it was forward.
Nz commentators say Boks dominated first 40. I saw them dominate last 30 so how the heck did England win!! Can somebody that understands rugby please explain. Amazing.

The future looks good for both the English and the Boks.
Not so sure about the tiny little Kiwis though.
I guess it's back to combing those islands again huh!!??

... Congrats to the Nz Samoan team that beat the Springboks , leading at halftime only to throw the game in the second half....whoever said NZ aren't doing anything for the development of our Pacific neighbours in rugby only needs to look at this NZ based Samoan team that had the mighty baby boks dumbfounded at the halftime deficit...

Bryc I wasnt good at schoo lboy rugby level I was very good. Made our school first team in form 4 - we had form 6 guys in. I am watching the first half where Junior Boks in control around 30 minute mark. Pollard just missed drop.Man this was a very unfortunate loss. Better side lost for sure!!!!

As NZ commentators said after first half - England wont be able to believe they are ahead!! Please take note Moooo la la.
So there is only one conclusion to be reached. England take the Cup. Boks best side in comp.
End of Story.
NZ ref reasonable, a few mistakes but that is human - some crumbs for the kbbs!
20 Jun 2014, 17:03#36
Bean Brain I'm sure you were great at running out with the oranges at half time and excelled at shining boots or somethink...but was referring to being good at the game of rugby...very few players will go any further after that age as far as reps are concerned....and players like McKenzie . Lee, Hickey and Pollard are obvious exceptions...pity NZ U20s have struggled without the Mighty Chiefs coach Dave Rennie who had an undefeated record up until he left...
