Just a question about the Aussie test yesterday

When the Aussie scrum disintegrated 5 meters  out and the ref awarded a penalty the Springboks decided to kick at goal,   To my mind that was the reason why they did not win the game - the AB's would have gone for another scrum.,
Fact is that if the game was to end in another three minutes time a kick at goal was OK and a three point lead could be defended.   However, there  were still 13 minutes to play and the Aussies managed to draw the game .
Lesson to my mind kicking should have been the last option considered - not the first,

Mike,I was actually seated behind the poles at the Test. I was screaming for the scrum and was disappointed with the Kick for goal. Eben obviously thought best to get the 3 and then hunt the converted try to equal up the scores at 20 all. I was also seated in the perfect spot willing Serf to make the line, and when Jaco spilt the pill with that beautiful run for the line as well I was just about screaming my head off. We pretty much had all the action down that end of the field. Great second half except for El ton's kicking out of hand.

 Thanks MB my idea as well.   I think that Ebe n took the wrong decision in that scrum situation.   A more experienced captrain would have done differently.
In a way it reminds me of the England case in the 2015 WC.   A stupid decision tio be regretted later on.   Bad news that decision.
