In losing Reinach, PSDT and Jordaan they pretty much lost the title winning credentials there in my opinion. I think Jake is looking to exploit Mvovo's potential strike power coming into the line whilst popping JPP there. Overall Mvovo has done a lot of work this season and deserves a shot in my opinion. If it doesn't pan out, then Marais is on the bench. Overall I would have JP on the bench to cover wing and fullback. I doubt he will be able to match what Mvovo has produced thus far. But we wait and see...

It's not exactly as if Swiel and Esterhuizen lit the world on fire last week, Stupid.
Some talented players hit the ground running ... others take awhile to step up. Seems Swiel and Esterhuizen fall under the latter.
Just cause they're your favourites doesn't mean Jake's wrong. How many times have you not put your foot in your mouth with the absurd picks you fancied (Jantjies, HouGat, JJ) only to come back feeling and looking stupid.

Jake did say that he wanted to bring Swiel into the reckoning much later into the competition; Jake knows he isn't ready yet. He looks promising so it would be a shame to destroy his development.

Alberts at close on 120kg and with grunt in the tight exhanges will do well at lock and deysel is in my view a better 7 than Alberts - much better work rate. The pack is about as good as they can pick. How will the backs go is the questions. Some bold moves by Jake as he explores the potential of his squad.Agrre re Sweil - handle with care.
Jake made a number of changes at the brumbies which came of spectacualry so lets see waht happens. Mvovo is a odd one for sure!!!

Moz I am inclined to agree with you. However there are risks involved here particularly with Mvovo but he has cover on the bench and can limit the damage if it is backfiring.

I poor performance is the norm for changing a team - then Francois Steyn should be the first one to go. He was atrocious last week and let me remind you about his stats:-

His kicking at goal was acceptable - the rest of his game bloody poor. Poor ball carries, atrocious loss of possession - poor tackling and atrocious giving away penalty straight in front of the posts. This is an atrociously poor performance which anybody would call making a farce of the game of rugby.
You again invented again poor play on the part of Marais and there was no evidence of that. But then invention and untruths are your stock in trade.

Once again Dave you miss the point. Mvovo is a competitive S15 wing....but hasn't shown the ability to step up to tests.

Mvovo has never looked bad under the high ball, and he's really best when he's in space. I only worry about his boot. It's a brave call, but i'm pretty optimistic that he can do well there.
I thought Swiel looked terrible against the Bulls. No problem with him being left out. Not sure why White hasn't slid Steyn into the number 10 jersey though. He did an admirable job there when Lambie had tickbite fever a few weeks ago.

I back Mvovo because he has shown an increase in work rate and much more accurate game. I think that if Jake can get the Sharks playing the right blend Mvovo at fullbak can work. It's not bias, it's just logic. Jake doesn't stuff players randomly in positions like our other coaches, he has a plan. That's the basis for my optimism.

White would not play Steyn at 10 -
* because other than kicking at goal - the rest of his play at 10 was poor; and
* because it would leave a gaping hole at 12 - since Williams is not really up to standard and I think White is hesitating about playing Esterhuizen at 12.

Are you saying that Steyn is the best option at 12? And that gaping hole at 12............... is that on defence, perhaps?

I think that Steyn this year was poor in his last four games - whether he was used at 10 or 12. Esterhuizen with 12 minutes playing time did better in the last Sharks game than Steyn did in 80 minutes.
Steyn is a gaping hole where ever he plays - but that is not what is happening at present. Play him at 10 and the gaping hole moves to 10 - otherwise it stays at 12.
